A Prayer for Listening to Our Children with Love by Rachael Hartzell

Think about the power of listening well. In this episode by, Rachael Hartzell, we look at Proverbs 18:13–14 as a foundation, we explore how impatience and inattentiveness can unintentionally crush the spirit of those we love, and how God’s example of patient, joyful listening invites us to do better.God delights in listening to His children, and we are called to mirror that same attentive love in our homes.

    Reference: Proverbs 18:13-14

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, it can be so easy for me to choose impatience and careless words when I’m not in the mood to listen to my child. In those moments when I am weary and my patience is thin, please strengthen me to respond and listen with the loving gentleness and patience that I find in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer to Remember that God is Faithful to Give Rest by Erin Warren

In today’s devotion, by Erin H. Warren, we explore the promise of rest found in Jesus’ words: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” While life can be physically exhausting—especially in seasons filled with challenges—Jesus offers a deeper kind of rest: rest for our souls. In Him, we find release from the pressures of performance and perfection, and we experience the peace that only His grace can provide.

    Reference: Matthew 11: 28-30

Prayer: Lord, I pray that your presence will be with us today. I pray that we will be aware of your presence with us. Breathe your restful life over our souls. May we remember that we do not need to carry the burdens that we feel. Instead, we can lay them at your feet, take your yoke, and rest. Thank you for coming to redefine Sabbath rest. Thank you for showing us the way in which we should walk. Thank you for the promise of rest, even when we feel anything but restful. And it's in your name, I pray. Amen.

A Prayer to Partner with God for the Hearts of our Children by Nicolet Bell

What does it really means to pray “according to God’s will"?In today's episode by Nicolet Bell, we take a look at 1 John 5:14 and we’re reminded that while we can bring anything before God, our confidence comes not from getting what we want, but from knowing He hears us and acts according to His perfect will.

Praying Scripture for our kids helps us align our hearts with His purposes and focus on what has eternal, kingdom value.

    Reference: 1 John 5:14

Prayer: Father, I am sorry for all of the times I neglect coming to you in prayer. Please help me to see prayer as an invitation to partner with you for the hearts of my children. I trust you with them, knowing that you desire what is best for them and you love them more than I can comprehend or imagine. Help me to make praying for my children a priority today. A Prayer to Take Off the Costume Oct 31, 2025

A Prayer to Take Off the Costume by Nicolet Bell

In this episode by Nicolet Bell reflects on the truth that nothing is hidden from God. Just as children wear costumes to pretend to be someone else, we often try to cover up parts of ourselves—our sin, our shame, or our struggles. Yet God sees everything, and still, He loves us completely. This truth brings both conviction and comfort: conviction to confess and turn toward Him, and comfort that we are fully known and still fully loved

    Reference: Hebrews 4:13

Prayer: Father, remind me that I don’t have to cover up or put on a costume to come into your presence. I thank you that you see everything, nothing is hidden from you and you love me anyway. Help me to lead my children with honesty, inviting a culture of openness into our home, even when it is a challenge. Allow my children to know the depths of your love - that you see all and you love all. In Jesus’ name, amen.

    A Prayer to Practice Oct 30, 2025

A Prayer to Practice by Nicolet Bell

Just like physical training strengthens our bodies, spiritual training strengthens our hearts and faith. The habits we repeat daily become second nature, shaping our reactions and responses when pressure comes. In today's episode by Nicolet Bell, she encourages us to consistently practice prayer, gratitude, worship, and scripture reading. When we implement habits, they become our spiritual reflexes—helping us stand firm and respond with faith in life’s big moments. God uses the quiet, unremarkable moments of obedience to prepare us for greater challenges and opportunities ahead.

    Reference: 1 Timothy 4:8

Prayer: Father, help us to not be afraid to put in the practice of spiritual discipline. We know that the quiet, ordinary moments are preparing us for the big moments and the challenges we will face. Show us when and where we need to put the reps in, knowing that we don’t work to earn our salvation but we do work out our salvation, each day drawing closer to you. In Jesus name, amen.

S51 Ep 21 - A Prayer For God to Continue The Good Work He Has Started, In My Adult Children and in Me Oct 29, 2025
    Show notes

A Prayer for God to Continue the Good Word He Has Started by: Gina Smith

Parenting doesn’t end when our kids become adults—it simply changes form. In this episode from Gina Smith, we reflect on the truth of Philippians 1:6 and the lifelong process of trusting God to continue His good work in our children. From the early days of learning that every child is uniquely created, to the complex seasons of parenting adult children, this devotion reminds us that God is the one shaping their hearts and guiding their growth.

    Reference: Philippians 1:6

Prayer: Father, thank you for the promise that you will complete the good work that you have begun in my children, in me, and in our family. Help me to rely on you as you grow my children into their new roles as adults and help me to not have expectations or make everything about me. Help me to be able to patiently step back and allow them to learn and grow as adults and help me to continue to grow and learn in my new role as mom of adult children. I want it all about you and your work in their lives, and not about me and what I hope our relationship might look like. Amen

A Prayer for God to Keep You Oct 28, 2025
    Show notes

A Prayer for God to Keep You

The short letter of Jude—only one page in most Bibles—packs profound truth for believers. Today's episode by Brooke McGlothlin dives into the first few verses in Jude and she remind us that those who belong to God are called, beloved, and kept.

The word “kept,” or “preserved” in the King James Version, speaks of God’s continual care and protection over His people. To “preserve” means to safeguard, protect, or maintain. Unlike our own imperfect efforts to keep things in order, God never fails to keep what belongs to Him.

    Reference: Matthew 6:34

    Prayer:

Father, thank you for keeping me and thank you for keeping my children. Left to myself I know I would never, left to myself I know I would never be able to stay. There's too much sin still in my heart and it's prone to wonder from you. The knowledge that you will preserve me, that you will guard me and keep me from stumbling, brings me so much peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

A Prayer for When You Feel Like Your Prayers Aren't Being Answered

Have you ever prayed for something and felt like God wasn't answering? Today's episode by Nicolet Bell takes us through the words of Psalm 34. Reference: Psalm 34:4

Prayer: Father, help me to believe that you hear and respond to my prayers. Help me to trust in your character even when life doesn’t go the way I want or expect. I release my expectations to you and trust you with the outcome of my requests. Strengthen my faith by the power of your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
