None other than the German-Japanese Legacy globetrotter Kai Sawatari is rejoining the cast tonight! Following many years of great success on the European circuit, Kai relocated to his native Japan a couple of years ago to follow his passions. Inspired by a guest appearance on Everyday Eternal in January of this year, Kai recently set up his own stream and has been taking Legacy by storm…or rather Doomsday! On top of being a distinguished crafter of 5-card decks, Kai has also made a name for himself for his card alterations which often feature prominently during his broadcast.

These Cards Are Gonna SMASH! | EP.102 Jun 16, 2021

Modern Horizons 2 looks to have at least just as much of an impact on Legacy as its predecessor. Thus far a ton of playable cards have been spoiled, with some of them even looking to become absolute format mainstays for years to come! Callum and Julian go over the most recent spoilers and break down 15 selected cards and how they fit into the format. We generally tried to step away from dedicated episodes of set reviews, but with Modern Horizons 2 bringing the big guns, it was more than worth it! Highlights include some of the most powerful one-drops Delver has ever seen (#eaththerich), but also a super rare triple-crossover sideboard card for green decks to take on Delver, Graveyards AND Doomsday! Even though some of those cards might turn out problematic in the format, we’re excited to see them put into action. Also: Callum makes another prediction to shut down the podcast if a specific one of these cards ends up breaking the format.

Being A Scrub & How To Avoid It | EP.101 Jun 16, 2021

“Playing good decks gives you a feeling of growth.”

What makes one a scrub? And what does it even mean to be one? Callum & Julian explore the meaning of the term and why it fundamentally has nothing to do with how well you play Magic – but whether your expectations align with the amount of work you’re willing to put into improvement. Becoming aware of your self-imposed rules in playing the game can both help you level up your game, but most importantly prevent frustration with plateauing. One of the most excellent resources on this topic is David Sirlin’s Playing To Win – Becoming the Champion (2002) that dedicates an entire chapter (available online!) to this today’s topic.
