In season two, this series expanded its scope from just anime to animation styles from around the world, including, in these two episodes, those two countries that have always gotten along swimmingly with each other, Ireland and England!. Ireland's Cartoon Saloon studio, of The Secret of Kells and Wolfwalkers fame, brings us a striking, dark, violent, morally ambiguous fable about everything one must sacrifice to obtain one's goals in life, and England's Aardman Animation brings us a bright sunny claymation romp through what can only be described as "we have podracing at home," complete with slinky droids, Vader hairstyles and freaky-deaky claymation hippie wookiees! It's Week #3 of Patreon Request Month 2023, and the randomizer is going all the way back to 2007 to pick Jinx Productions and Jonathan Librach's request for the long-awaited (though I'm not sure by who) live action feature film adaptation of a 1960s animated series that millions of people watched in reruns while enthusiastically cheering "okay, I guess this exists!" And the movie boldly exists as well, transforming the uniquely-designed clothed bipedal dog-like characters in the cartoon into boring ordinary dogs, replacing Wally Cox's cartoony voice with the snarky rasp of the guy from Mallrats, and casting Tyrion Lannister and Kronk as the bad guys and unfairly expecting them to carry the whole damn movie when they don't really seem to feel like doing that. It's Week #2 of Patreon Request Month 2023, and the randomizer is going all the way back to 1997 to pick Andrew Weiss's request for Disney's very first live-action direct-to-video sequel, continuing the wacky adventures of Wayne Szalinski, the genius inventor played by easily one of the six or seven funniest people from SCTV (that's not an insult, they were just all really great and it's really hard to rank them) who miraculously invented a shrink ray that could solve world hunger and revolutionize practically every industry known to man, but instead was mostly used to shrink kids, shrink parents, shrink audiences and briefly turn a toddler into a kaiju. This third movie had the lowest budget of the three, and hoo boy does it show. This week, the randomizer goes all the way back to 2009 to pick yet another Disney Channel Original Movie, and in this case, it's a DCOM about that strange mysterious fantastical creature known colloquially as the "chicken." What is a chicken? Where did they come from? What do they want from us? Which came first, the chicken or the guy named Pete? What does a guy named Pete have to do with any of this? Why in God's name did the Disney Channel think it was a great idea to make a movie about a basketball mascot that's just an ugly chicken suit? Why is the town in said movie full of grown-ass adults with seemingly nothing better to do with their lives than obsess - there's no other word for it, OBSESS - over said ugly chicken suit? How long can you watch this movie before your nose starts bleeding? What's the meaning of life? What happens after we die? Regular or extra-crispy? And for the love of God, who the hell is Tommy?
