    EQ Gangster

EQ Gangster is specifically for leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs & other influencers who are honest enough to admit that they just might be the ones holding themselves back & who are brave enough to change that. Research is showing that your Emotional Quotient (also known as Emotional Intelligence) is a bigger indicator of success than your IQ, your education & your experience.

In each episode, Noble offers practical, candid, and often humorous clarity for the modern leader who is brave enough to do the most uncomfortable work they’ll ever do: change THEMSELF! Interviews with other leaders help you see how EQ can transform the way you lead, do business and live your life.

Noble Gibbens, West Point grad and Army veteran, has been coaching people for over 20 years. After an uncharacteristic fight with his wife a few years ago, he started learning about & growing his own Emotional Intelligence (EQ). What he learned transformed him from the inside out – in every area. He’s sharing the breakthroughs here on the EQ Gangster podcast, in his membership, EQ Mafia, and with his corporate clients.

#391: Huge Insight From Jordan Peterson On The Impact Of Our Environments Oct 23, 2023
    Show notes

    Boom! This one is fire.

Jordan Peterson was sharing this insight w/Joe Rogan on the role, nature & effect of different environments on our psyches, mindsets & motivations.

I've done multiple episodes on the power of different environments on our lives.

What environments bring the best out of you?

    Mountains

    Beaches

    Cities

    Wooden chairs

    Comfy chairs

    Bright rooms

    Dark rooms

    Suit & tie

    Dresses

    Shorts

    Sweats

Jordan P. took it to another level. He said when we get into an environment (i.e.: our home office or workspace), does it give us inspiration & direction?

That question hit me like a Mack Truck.

How can you create your environments so much so that they create inspiration & direction everytime you enter it?

#390: How Do You Assess the Emotional State of Someone? Oct 19, 2023
    Show notes

    Why is this question relevant?

There are a number of relevant scenarios for this question:

    Parenting

    Leadership

    Coaching

    Developing teams

    Navigating conflict

Maximizing a team or individual's momentum

If the emotional state of someone is not considered, it could affect their ability to receive whatever guidance or leadership you're attempting to impart.

How aware are you of others' emotional states?

How do their emotional states affect your leadership effectiveness?

How often do you miss-assess someone else's emotional states?

What are 1 or 2 things you can do to increases your social-awareness to better assess your team's emotional states?

    #389: I Completely Wasted A Client's Time Or Did I? Oct 16, 2023
    Show notes

Real client story of a client telling me at the end of our coaching session he learned absolutely nothing. He got nothing out of it.

I was taken aback b/c I've never heard that before in the 25 years I've been coaching leaders.

Professionally he's fairly dialed in, but personally he definitely has some room for improvement.

In his EQi2.0 assessment, it was clear he's lacking the EQ element of Impulse Control.

My line of questions was specifically exploring some reflection on this particular aspect of his life. An area of his life that he doesn't normally do a lot of reflection about.

    Questions to consider

    1. Whose "fault" was it that he got nothing out of the session?
    2. What is the solution going forward so that he does get something out of future sessions?
    3. When have you felt your time was wasted?
    4. Were you still able to learn something - even if the speaker/leader - wasn't to your liking / standard?
    5. Whose responsibility is it to learn - the leader being coached or the coach?
    6. How "good" are you at learning…from anyone?
