    Show notes

In this reflection for the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, Kristen Fisher inspires us to press in and hold onto Jesus instead of relying on our own strength to get through the narrow gate.

When we look at the saints, it can be tempting to just look at their behavior and just look at their actions and say, “well, of course, look at how good they were”. And it’s true. They were very, very good. Maybe what we don’t see so readily is that they were good because they were pressing in and holding onto Jesus.

In this reflection for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time, missionary disciple Meg Hunter-Kilmer reflects on how the readings show that God has chosen us to be his own, and what that means for us.

The Lord has chosen us to be his own. We say we are blessed because God has chosen us. He’s chosen every single person, friends, and we have said “yes”, by our baptism, by our faith, by our faithfulness, we have said “yes”.

In this reflection for the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Kristen Fisher reflects on the ways that the Scriptures encourage us to spend our lives on the things that matter to God.

How can we make sure that we are not like the man in the gospel, storing up things in a barn, storing up treasures, that will not last? How can we make sure that we are spending our lives doing the things that matter? Doing things that last?

    Enkindle 116 – 07.24.22 – Every Day Missionaries Jul 22, 2022
    Show notes

For this reflection for Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Fr. Erik Arnold recaps the last month’s readings and the way they challenge us to be missionaries in every day life.

The readings from this month teach us four simple ways we can me missionaries in our every day lives:
1 – speak good news to others.
    2 – to bandage wounds
3 – to show hospitality and
4 – to pray and intercede for others.

The scriptures from these last four weeks teach us how we can be missionaries in our daily life by loving our neighbor, right where we are. It’s not too hard, and not too complicated, and doing it will have a huge impact on the world around us.

Jesus wants us first and foremost, the one thing necessary, to recognize him, to meet him, and to welcome him into our homes, into our hearts. He wants us to truly encounter him and to let him fill us with his joy.

God loves us like the good Samaritan. He loves us in a way that is generous and abundant and personal. We owe him our thanks. We absolutely owe him our thanks, but God does it because it is good to be good.

For this reflection for Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Meg Hunter-Kilmer inspires us to ask for a deeper joy that only comes from Jesus.

The thing that brings us our greatest joy is not our accomplishments in this world. It’s not the achievements that we experience. It’s not money. It’s not even a beautiful family that loves us well. The thing that brings us the greatest joy is the love of Jesus.

All of us, young and old married, single students, moms, dads, kids, priests, sisters brothers…we were all made with a heart that was designed by God to give itself away radically to Him.

    Enkindle 111 – 06.19.22 – Yes and Amen! Jun 16, 2022
    Show notes

In this reflection for The Feast of Corpus Christi 2022, Adam Novotny inspires us consider the Mass differently this Sunday as we recognize the presence of the body of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Let’s really think about Corpus Christi, the body of Christ when we walk into the church and make the sign of the cross, saying: in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let’s think about Jesus and his body, which hung on the cross, and which is then offered to us as a gift in the Eucharist. Then as we walk forward up to the Eucharistic minister, they will say “Corpus Christi”, meaning, this is the body of Christ. The body of Christ. And as we say “Amen”, let’s say it a little louder, and let it resound in our hearts. Yes. And amen!
