Are ‘Manningcasts’ the new way of watching sporting events? May 10, 2022

-The concept isn’t completely new, as we did see past national championships in college football have rooms of coaches watching the game and commenting, but it exploded last year with Monday Night Football

-Last week, it was learned that Joe Buck’s first broadcast with ESPN will be in a Manningcast form for the PGA Championship this month. Also, 2 MNF football games have been announced..

-Is this the future of broadcasts? Are you in or out on it?

Today is the 6-year anniversary of ‘Early Break w/ Sip & Jake’….is this show the curse of Nebraska men’s athletics? May 10, 2022

Show notes

-We say it in jest as we celebrate 6 years on the air and hopefully many more going forward. But seriously---it’s been a lot of bad Nebraska sports to cover in our time together

-The only bowl game we’ve had the chance to cover was the first year of this show’s existence in 2016. Baseball has had some moments, but came to a crashing halt this year

-Are Sip and Jake the curse of Nebraska men’s sports?

Jake would like to know if anyone is still watching the USFL / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) May 09, 2022

Show notes

-Did you remember it was still going on? Jake didn’t until he saw a tweet over the weekend. No fans at the games in Birmingham, and average football at best. Seems like it won’t last…again

-Also, a PGA golfer got mad at a fan for chewing his chips too loudly this weekend….

Are Nebraska’s strong odds to win the B1G West based on reality or on excitement from fans? May 09, 2022

Show notes

-We talked about the odds in recent weeks, but Nebraska has the 2nd best odds to win the B1G West behind Wisconsin and 4th best odds of winning the B1G Championship according to FanDuel

-Is there any reason to expect that though? Nebraska was listed as one of the winners of the transfer portal by CBS Sports

-Maybe the Ochaun Mathis and Devin Drew additions help out excitement…

Nebraska baseball really might not make the B1G Tournament in Omaha and that is…not good May 09, 2022

Show notes

-Nebraska went to Minnesota for a 3-game series this weekend, and lost 2 of 3. It was just the 2nd series win over anyone on the season for the Gophers

-Nebraska is now 10th in the B1G, and only the top 8 teams qualify for the B1G Tournament in Omaha. If this team, which won the conference last year, fails to even make the tourney…that’s just sad. The overall record is 19-27 and conference record is 7-11
