Lane Kiffin and Paul Finebaum are proof that we need more feuds between coaches and broadcasters in sports Jul 19, 2024

Show notes

-There have been feuds in the past between broadcasters and players/coaches, but it’s not very common anymore---but Kiffin and Finebaum have had interesting encounters

-Earlier in the week, Finebaum said he doesn’t think Kiffin is that funny when others think that he is, and they’ve traded barbs in the past that seem like in good fun, but maybe not so much

-Yesterday, at SEC Media Days, Kiffin said to Finebaum that “he’s not sure what he’s really good at”

Can you get kicked out of Blue Blood status in College Football? One respected media member says Nebraska isn’t in the club anymore Jul 19, 2024

Show notes

-On3’s Andy Staples listed his Blue Bloods ahead of the 2024 season, and mentioned these programs: Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, and Penn State

-When asked about Nebraska, he said it wasn’t a mistake to leave them out—he doesn’t consider them now a Blue Blood—he says 3+ generations of elite history (which must have the last 2 generations to be considered)---and Nebraska doesn’t have that, even with their 5 national titles.

-Also, ROLL CALL (sponsored by Madsen’s Bowling & Billiards): where are people listening from today?

Greg Sankey might be done at the podium at SEC Media Days but he’s still talking on radio—and taking aim at a school Jul 18, 2024

Show notes

-Sankey, the SEC commissioner, was on 1010AM in Jacksonville, Fla., and said “Georgia was one of the best four teams in the nation but didn’t get in the playoff. But you didn’t see us jumping up and down and complaining and hanging national championship banners.”

-This is an obvious shot at Florida State---now, to the Seminoles’ credit…there was already an SEC team in the playoff (Alabama) and none from the ACC, so maybe that’s where they’d fire back…
