It’s one thing to name an interim coach during a season---but something else to name an official head coach midseason, but it happened in college baseball Mar 26, 2025

Show notes

-Rice baseball started off 2-14 this season and fired Jose Cruz, Jr.---a player who had an excellent college career with the Owls---but they moved quickly

-Rice had pitching coach Parker Bangs act as interim coach for just a few short days---and they named former Texas head coach David Pierce the new permanent head coach midseason, NOT in an interim basis

CBS Sports went through every game for each B1G team and takes Nebraska to go OVER 7.5 wins in 2025…would we take 8 wins right now and run? Mar 26, 2025

Show notes

-Tom Fornelli went through Nebraska’s schedule and said that FanDuel has the Huskers’ over/under at 7.5 wins for the year, but he sees 8 wins: Cincinnati, Akron, Houston Christian, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, USC and Iowa

-He has Nebraska winning all their home games (plus the neutral-site game vs. Cincinnati), but losing all 4 road games at Maryland, Minnesota, UCLA and Penn State. Nebraska would start 5-0 in this scenario….do you see it?

The transfer portal opening has already affected a team in the Sweet 16…will anyone else follow before tomorrow and Friday? Mar 26, 2025

Show notes

-The portal officially opened on Monday, and Michigan freshman guard Justin Pippen—son of Scottie Pippen---entered his name in the portal and will not be with the team going forward

-Pippen played in only 12 games this year, the most recent being vs. Michigan State in the season finale, and only averaged 1.6 ppg and 0.7rpg—so it’s not a big stats loss but is still a body that was there all season no longer being on the bench
