CBS Sports says there are 12 coaches on the ‘elite’ level in the NFL…is that right or too high or low? / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe) Jul 15, 2025

Show notes

CBS Sports put the NFL coaches into 3 separate tiers, and in Tier 1 were these coaches, in order: Andy Reid, Sean McVay, John Harbaugh, Nick Sirianni, Dan Campbell, Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Shanahan, Matt LaFleur, Kevin O’Connell, Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton, and Sean McDermott

Putting the coaches in 3 tiers vs. 7-8 tiers seems easier to assess…is saying there are 12 elite/”cream of the crop” coaches proper for the current league?

Once on the same page, and now----apparently not….Greg Sankey makes it clear the SEC and B1G differ on playoff preference Jul 15, 2025

Show notes

The SEC commissioner kicked off SEC Media Days by saying that if the SEC and B1G can’t get on the same page regarding a 16-team playoff, then it could still remain as a 12-team playoff, with the deadline for any change being December 1st

He seemed more than fine to keep it at 12 teams in his comments…he also said regarding college athletics, “it’s not broken—it is under stress and it is strained.” There’s a lot of ways to try and describe college sports right now…

He says he’s not apologizing if he and his wife go out to golf after 4:30pm if they both have time to, and that his goal remains to win at a high level
