Last year’s Husker game vs. an FCS opponent left fans a little uncomfortable despite a 34-3 result…did the Akron game already take that potential uncomfortable feeling out? Sep 11, 2025
    Show notes

Last year, Nebraska beat Colorado, 28-10, and came back down to Earth a little bit in a 34-3 win over Northern Iowa---the game was not really ever in question (21-3 lead at halftime), but fans didn’t like UNI having a 16-play, 62-yard drive that led to a FG

UNI had 301 yards in that game, with their QB having success on the ground…having already beaten Akron by a million and this being an 11am game, would anyone be surprised if Nebraska looks sluggish? And is that acceptable in any regard?

Last week, the NFL had the complete spotlight on Thursday, with the Eagles beating the Cowboys to kick off the season

Tonight, there’s a phenomenal NFL matchup---Commanders @ Packers (7:15pm, Amazon Prime)…AND one college football game (NC State @ Wake Forest, 6:30pm, ESPN)…how many eyes will be on the college game vs. the NFL game?

It’s not the case at Nebraska this year so far (thankfully), but it has in recent years---how do you overcome slow starts and early losses and bounce back? Sep 11, 2025
    Show notes

Clemson is off to a slow start this year (17-10 loss at home to LSU, and a 27-16 win over Troy). Head coach Dabo Swinney said in his weekly press conference, “this group ain’t had the rat poison---they’ve had the ‘you suck’ poison, and this is the first time this group has really had to manage that.”

Dabo pointed out that his 2016 team had a slow start like this and still won the national championship…but how hard is it to get going when you had high expectations and such a slow start?

Two NFL franchises announced new stadium plans yesterday…both are cold weather cities…should they embrace the outdoor elements? Sep 10, 2025
    Show notes

Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren (yes, the former B1G commissioner) wrote to season-ticket holders that the Bears will build a new, fixed-roof stadium in Arlington Heights with hopes of hosting a Super Bowl by 2031

The Broncos also announced they would be a new world-class retractable roof stadium in Downtown Denver with hopes of opening by 2031…we know the Bills are building a new stadium, too that is NOT a dome…should cold weather teams embrace the cold and play without domes or not?

We knew Nebraska would likely have few issues beating Akron, but did you or anyone envision 68-0 being possible? How impressive was that beatdown on Saturday?

Nebraska does play a game this weekend---vs. Houston Christian—but it’s hard to not look ahead to Michigan…how much has your opinion about Nebraska’s chances in that game changed from before the season, if at all?

Nebraska had more punt return yards in the Akron game than they had the entirety of last season…was that just a bad punter for the Zips or signs of the punt return game being a factor the rest of season?

Sip believes Nebraska’s secondary is its strongest unit…does defensive coordinator John Butler agree with that assessment? Sep 10, 2025
    Show notes

Sip wrote about it yesterday for Husker Online, and it’s hard to push against that with how good the secondary has been so far in completely shutting down the passing game of Cincinnati and Akron

Those aren’t great teams, but Cincinnati did pass for 300+ yards vs. Bowling Green after having just 69 yards vs. Nebraska…what does Butler think about that group and the defense in general after his presser yesterday?
