    Dueling Decades

Dueling Decades is the totally awesome adult retro game show you’ve been looking for! Listen as the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s square off and do battle! Because it’s your history, we just fight for it!

The rules of our game are simple! A coin flip shall decide who picks first, out of the 5 dueling decades categories (Movies, TV, Music, News, & Hot Products).

The judge’s ruling will determine who wins each round, allowing the victor to choose the next available category.

The first 3 rounds are worth 1 point each. With rounds 4 and 5, worth 2 points apiece. The winning decade shall be decided by the highest overall score after all 5 rounds.

Keith Coogan drops some serious knowledge on the guys this week. Having been involved in Hollywood his entire life, Keith has some tales to tell! There is so much great nostalgia in this episode! Fast soundtracks, creatures that spray children, Tom Green's favorite vehicle, turtles with baboon arms, highways to the netherworld, an album close to Beau's heart, prostitutes who cook eggs in their underwear, houses that kill, a cosplaying John Leguizamo, the financial realities of motion pictures, Universal strikes a deal, Keith's uncle plays a priest, the real reasoning behind reboots, getting punched in the nuts, the Battle of Los Angeles was actually drug smugglers, Keith loses his virginity to ACDC and then gets caught, more stupid network decisions, Letterman watches a man get the taste slapped out of his mouth, gameshow disclaimers, a school for dicks, The Rolling Stones get paid a lot, The Fox and The Hound, listener questions, and who was Keith's favorite person to ever work with?

Original video vixen Tawny Kitaen shows off her judging skills on this duel between 1975, 1987 & 1994! Jul 29, 2020
    Show notes

We're excited to introduce Tawny Kitaen, the original video vixen from the 1980s who was kind enough to stop by the show. Even though the guys woke her from her slumber, she's still here and ready to swing the gavel as our guest judge; live from her bed. Mike Ranger took some time away from the Video Rangers podcast to bring the best week he could conjure up from mid-July 1994. His first opponent, Joe Findlay of Miscast Commentary is back with his first-ever helping from the 1970s, as he brings his week for the ages from mid-July 1975. Back on a losing skid again, Mancrush looks to find his mojo with his best offering from mid-July 1987. This episode is packed with nostalgic goodies!

Tawny was so extremely happy to be awoken by these three hooligans that she even offered them one of her new exclusive candles for the Podcast New York studio. She loved them that much, but will she love the picks that much? Bet your bottom she did! In this episode, you may find stories about Tawny nitpicking a pitcher's decisions, the best things you can buy for a dollar, a movie no one really liked, cartoons from the 70s, a musicians philanthropy, a metal god's first show, cake and sodomy, Tawny wants Taco Bell, a kingdom collapses, everyone loves the long ball, obscure comic books, another big weird ball, a game you can't play in the backseat of a car at night, a spokesmodel that outshined his or her product, another multicolored ball no one in the US cares about, David Lee Roth's insatiable appetite, one man's trash is another man's treasure, a good movie that seems to be forgotten, a collection of legends, Tawny marries Joe and divorces him, and what's in the box, and what does it smell like??

Do you agree with Tawny's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors is here to oversee this battle between 1989, 1991 and 1999! Jul 22, 2020
    Show notes

Marc James is a Spin Doctors superfan, and nothing was going to hold him back from being on this episode of Dueling Decades, not even when his Internet lines get cut! That's right, the gods were against us for this recording. Two hours before our recording with Chris Barron, Marc's Internet lines got cut in a crazy construction snafu, then Mancrush's network card took a dump 30 minutes before call time! That said, we adapted, and we overcame! No pandemic, cut Internet, or faulty computers were going to stop us from recording this episode. But, just in case Joe Findlay from the Miscast Commentary Podcast is here on backup! With the contest underway, Marc stacked the deck to impress Chris Barron with his 21st birthday of 1999! Drew Zakmin from the One Headlight 90's podcast is back with the funnest 11th birthday he could muster from 1991! And to round everything out, Mancrush is looking to find another lucky shirt with his own 11th birthday from 1999!

It's been a whole lot easier since tonight's gremlins are gone, it's a whole lot happier without their faces around! Chris Barron is still rocking on his live "Thirsty Thursday" shows on StageIt, make sure to drop on in. Don't worry, the Spin Doctors are still together as well, and he gives us some deep musical introspective on the past and present! It doesn't end there though, find out how the Spin Doctors came to be, Mancrush's second favorite Kickboxer of 1989, wearing operating room attire to dinner, the best way to conceal your peppermint schnapps, three teens that could have saved Al Capone from syphilis, two nearly identical stories about an ageless legend, a beastly beverage we've all purchased, our wives keep our childhood memories in the basement, watch Wapner wherever you want, knockoff birthday gifts, showing up at a movie and your song is unknowingly in it, dark 90's music, the birth of a musical legend, a reptile that looks like John Goodman, a musician you put on when you turn the lights down, things you do in the passenger's seat of your best friends vehicle, things people say about Chris' bandmates, playing games in a Craftmatic adjustable bed, snitches get stitches, Marc uses AOL instant messenger to meet a stranger in New York City, and what is it like to know your album is basically available anywhere you go?

Do you agree with Chris's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Who had the best July to kick off their Summer - 1970, 1980 or 1990? Jul 15, 2020
    Show notes

This week the boys of summer are back and you won't forget this steamy blast from the past! What year had the best summer to start off the decade? Dave Schultz from the Selling Out Show returns to judge this epic "best of" July battle between 1970, 1980, and 1990! Will Mancrush’s new lucky shirt turn out to be a winner as he competes with July 1970? Or will Marc James’ selections from July 1980 topple the pack? Drew Zakmin of the One Headlight 90’s Podcast drops some knowledge as he defends the best of July 1990!

The Dueling Decades gang tunes into some iconic radio and takes a trip down the highway of forgotten memories in everyone's favorite affordable 90's automobile! Is that an Alanis Morrisette song? Other than that, you're going to hear about annoying Nickelodeon show tunes, Playboy bunnies who serve you dinner, long-distance dedications, summer fun with the man in black, the successful acting career playbook, the Cannon group brings you full-frontal, Miller High Life's musical companion, 50-year-old predictions become real life, a new band emerges from the ashes of another band, working with clay, a strike kills an industry, scifi toys that everyone owned, an album full of sexual innuendos, Peter Boyle's butt, and who doesn't like movies about gladiators?

We had a most triumphant time with Diane Franklin judging this worst of duel between 1976, 1986 & 1996! Jul 08, 2020
    Show notes

We're joined by a real Princess this week, Diane Franklin joins the show to determine who had a "not so excellent" decade! Diane Franklin, the beautiful Princess Elizabeth from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, John Cusack's muse in Better off Dead, and everyone's favorite "Karen" in Last American Virgin grabs the gavel and deliberates this "worst of" battle of the decades! Joe Findlay from Miscast Commentary came to battle with the worst of the first week of July 1986! Marc is looking for back to back victories with the most awful first week of July 1976 that he can muster. Mancrush is still looking for his first victory in over a month; so he delivers an inferior first week of July 1996 to get back on the winning path.

Diane Franklin brings some brutal honesty to this episode of Dueling Decades! Aside from her unwavering judgments, she also tells us what her worst movie role ever was, what her favorite role was, the real reason why you watched Second Time Lucky, the worst Independence Day movie imaginable, the difference between east coasters and west coasters, invaders from another planet, the end of journalism, Bo Derek, Cannon Films rules no matter what, toys that are a step above coal, cooking with chemicals, a movie Disney wishes didn't exist, a "regular guy" heads to Hollywood, mysterious albums, don't touch Marc, fake coups, intergalactic failures, the price is wrong Bob, boring BBC shows, John McNamara screws Roger Clemens, filming awkward nude scenes, life after Mental Health, and who was the funniest man on the set of Better Off Dead?

Do you agree with Diane's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

RJ City is back for round two of this showdown between the last week of June 1978, 1988 & 1998! Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

A few weeks back we had professional Wrestler RJ City on the show as guest judge and he dazzled us with his knowledge behind the bench. However, being that the episode was all about wrestling, he felt typecast! In spite of that, we invited him back to judge the "week experience", and he didn't disappoint! Our old friend Beau Becraft is back, and he brought the best of the last week of June 1998 to the party. After a week off from competition, Marc James is back in the fold, and he's got a first-rate week from the end of June 1988. Their final opponent is a man that's been left off the victor's stand for nearly a month, Mancrush looks to finally get off the schneid with the finest he can muster with the last week of June 1978. Will this one be close, or will we see a landslide?

RJ starts the episode off with a special message for our oldest fan, David Moble. Davy boy has been singing our praises for years, and we wanted to share with him how much his loyalty means to us. From there, the competition is as stiff as a lariat from Big Van Vader! In this episode, you might find sexual swing music, the end of prank phone calls, some guy named Coper, sweaty nether regions, Moble's preferred operating system, JLo in a trunk, Hugh Hefner has an auction, Eddie Murphy's extended Universe, potential spoilers from a 1978 classic, an homage to Ben Vereen, hot foreign music, ways to ruin a classic film, immovable rubber toys, men's fashion, smelly math teachers, and how is Beau connected to RJ City's first sexual conquest? All this and more on this episode of Dueling Decades!

Do you agree with RJ's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! The Dueling Decades' crew stays "Up All Night" w/special guest judge Rhonda Shear in this B-movie battle between 88, 91 & 93! Jun 24, 2020
    Show notes

This episode was extra special to all of us on Dueling Decades because, like many of you, we spent our formative teen years watching Rhonda Shear on USA's UP All Night! Not only was Rhonda amazing, but she also introduced us to a whole new world of movies that we might never have seen. Had it not been for Rhonda and UP All Night, we might've never found the love for B-Movies that we have today! Our parents also thank Rhonda for being a free babysitter on Friday & Saturday nights as we sat there until the wee hours of the morning watching Reform School Girls and Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death, much appreciated! Sit back, relax, and re-live some of the best B-Movies had to offer. Brent Hand from Hysteria 51 is back and brought the very best of B-Movies from 1993, Mancrush delivers with B-Movies of 1991, and Mike Ranger of the Video Rangers completes the competition with B-Movies of 1988!

There is a ton of B-Movie madness in this episode, and lots of Rhonda stories to satisfy! In this episode, you might find stories about monsters, bad wigs, creepy ex-boyfriends, Rhonda's first episode on UP All Night, cannibals playing instruments, schlinging schlongs, B-Movie mockery, slithery tentacles, Cannon Films, the man responsible for the death of the B-Movie industry, stars that should never get naked, killer clowns, top-secret projects by the government, Gilbert Gottfried, zombies, lack of sleep, lingerie, foot fetishes, Mel Brooks is a good guy, destroyed master tapes, killer bimbos, entrepreneurship, all of our listener & Facebook questions for Rhonda answered, and what sitcom star got Rhonda fired and is a mega douche?

Do you agree with Rhonda's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Guest Judge RJ City presides as the crew Wrestles with the history of 1981, 1989 & 1995 Jun 10, 2020
    Show notes

It's been a while since we talked about wrestling with someone who cares! The Honorable David Schultz turned his nose up at every wrestling selection we brought to the table, so it was time we found the right Judge for the case! Professional wrestler RJ City answered the call, and he must have been fresh off his morning coffee in his underwear because this guy is a walking encyclopedia of ALL things; not just wrestling! When he's not tag-teaming with David Arquette, RJ must be reading anything he can get his hands on, because he literally knew about everything we threw at him! Beau Becraft joins us this week, and he's happy as a schoolboy on pizza day to be back with all the wrestling accolades of 1995! His first opponent Mancrush is still reeling from defeat and looks to right the ship with wrestling of 1989. Rounding out our contestants for this week, Marc James prepares to dismantle the competition with wrestling of 1981.

RJ City is ready to deliver a "Knee Arthur" to anyone who steps out of line, but did we give him a reason to? There are so many deep dives in this episode! RJ's thoughts on signing with a major organization, cobb salads, the return of the Mongolian Stretcher match, the birth of real wrestling competition, empty arenas, The Oak Ridge Boys, David Moble loves baklava hausen, 5 Star matches, Hall of Famers, rubber toys that don't belong to Mom, Vince McMahon stranded on a roof, the best linebacker to ever live, horrible movies, good movies, horrible TV shows that paved the way for a new world order, local bands that suck, 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon that's beyond belief, Lewis Arquette is super fly, Ox Baker is everywhere, grabbing cake, the WWE's most successful movie, arcade games, Snake Plissken is the coolest name ever, The Wrestling Boot Band hurts our ears, a legitimate wrestle war, wrestling is "fake", and just what does RJ City think about Kayfabe in the year 2020? Show notes

The Dueling Decades crew took a trip down to Malibu and picked up the most wanted judge in Southern California! No.....not Judge Ito. It's the star of such cinematic classics as Scream, Three Kings, Malibu's Most Wanted, and The Jamie Kennedy experience, it's Jamie Kennedy! Fresh off his new stand up comedy special "Stoopid Smart" on Tubi, Jamie joins us poolside with his gavel in hand to tackle this "worst of" June showdown! We're also excited to welcome back Hysteria 51's Brent Hand! Being the gentleman that he is, Brent brought the very worst of June 1999 along with him. Brent's first opponent is coming off some tough defeats as of late, and he's armed with a plate of turd sandwiches from June 1976, it's Mancrush! But wait, there's more! Marc James is back to make this contest complete, with some disgusting, flat non-alcoholic beer from June 1983. Thanks, Marc!

When Jamie's not chilling at Usher's house, he likes to sit back, and reminisce about the days of old! So here are some of the things you might find in this episode, Jamie will take us back to his childhood, comics that James Gunn suggests, paying your boyfriends way through medical school, stars that enjoy wearing their girlfriend's knickers, more annoying songs, Michael Douglas pulls a power move, a comic love triangle that results in death, Jamie digs Anthony Spinelli's work, the most annoying character in the world, Jamie is a product of Yoda, filthy funeral escapades, BBC, Publisher's Clearinghouse, fists in random places, spelling bees, horrible sequels, Will Smith's biggest blunder, computer viruses, Hollywood rumors, the worst gift to buy your girlfriend, the most honest celebrity in the world, Randy Meeks lives, ass blasters, graboids, and how did Jamie end up doing stand up in the back of a bowling alley?
