Show notes

It's time for a tidbit of next week's delicious offering, when we find out what happened last summer when the team took the show to Hannah's home Island as part of the Ventnor Fringe on the Isle of Wight!

In a tent literally packed-to-the-trapeze, the team solved a historical, local crime, while being joined on stage by the man who did the impossible and made an honest woman of Hannah - right before he knocked her up - yes, it's Mr Hannah George, otherwise known as actor and writer, Toby Williams... The full episode will be available next Wednesday 21st February.

In the meantime, why not catch up with the vast back catalogue of DWSC eps, featuring amazing guests like Katherine Ryan, Sara Pascoe, Desiree Burch, Samira Ahmed, Fern Britton, Shazia Mirza, Susie Dent... the list is (almost) endless.

The Drunk Women are at The Museum of Comedy in March, April, May and June - so join them at their London residency, book early to avoid disappointment, as it's likely to sell out! For info and tickets head to - Drunk Women Solving Crime - The UK's hit true crime comedy podcast

The Bones of Spying with Ava Glass Feb 07, 2024

Show notes

In today's episode, the gals are joined by the fantastic spy-crime writer, Ava Glass, who is behind the brilliant female lead spy books such as The Traitor, The Chase, and Alias Emma.

These stories may (or may not?) have been inspired by her real-life encounters with female agents and the insight she gained while working with them.

So, as well as finding out which Drunk Woman would make the best spy, Ava also shared a couple of crime stories from her own real life, one of which is proof of the lack of pockets in women's clothes makes us more vulnerable!

The team then picks the bones of a true crime case from history, before hearing from a listener and DEFINITELY not making things worse for them.

We also get Taylor, Hannah and Catie's take on the brilliant new Sky series, True Detective: Night Country.

COMING UP NEXT WEEK.... with Ava Glass Jan 31, 2024

Show notes

As the Drunk Women continue to ease their way into 2024 with fortnightly releases, the gals think it's only right that we should get a little nugget of what we can expect in next week's episode, and so here's a taste of what happened when writer of female lead spy fiction, Ava Glass popped into the studio to tell Taylor, Hannah and Catie all about the spy who loved her (at least that's what she thought), how not having pockets made her an easy victim, and to help put some flesh on the bones of a case from history.

All this and much more will be ready next week, but until then, why not go back through our back catalogue and reacquaint yourselves with some of the other 277 amazing episodes?

DWSC LIVE: With Alexandra Haddow Jan 24, 2024

Show notes

Here's what happened in the 'second show of the show' at the very last DWSC residency of 2023, and as you may have heard in the teaser trailer, it's a riotous affair!

The hilarious Alexandra Haddow joined the force to help the gang maraud through this tawdry tale of a VERY rare situation.

Before we get stuck into that, Alexandra starts things off by sharing a crime against dating (and trainers) and then at the end, a brave audience member tells us the most millennial crime of the millennium ... well, of the bit of the millennium it was recorded in anyway.

COMING UP NEXT WEEK.... with Alexandra Haddow Jan 17, 2024

Show notes

As the team releases episodes fortnightly during January and February of 2024 so our Hannah can have some restful maternity leave (maternity leave IS restful, right?), we thought it only fair to give you all a sneak peak of what happens on next week's show, with the hilarious, Alexandra Haddow, recorded at the final London residency of '23.

What was the intel that Hannah received during the interval? Who is Catie singing 'Happy Birthday'' to? And what does Taylor think is 'even better than murder'?

Well, there's not long to find out my friends, but until you get to hear this episode in all its glory - why not go back through our back catalogue and reacquaint yourselves with some of the other 276 amazing episodes?

DWSC LIVE: With Alison Thea-Skot Jan 10, 2024

Show notes

New year, new you? Not for the Drunk Women it's not, they plan to continue exactly how they've been going, as today's episode proves!

As you'll hear, it's very much business as usual as comedian and improviser, Alison Thea-Skot joined the ladies on stage during their final residency show of 2023 to tell us about the time Paul Abdul was stolen from her life and help solve a crime from the 1990s that will have you looking at cardboard cut-outs in a whole new light.

We continue with the 90s theme for the listener story, as a member of the live audience shared the only crime to have happened in Finland during that decade, which also happened to involve the disappearance of a UK Britpop band.

Throughout January and February of 2024, the Drunk Women will be releasing episodes fortnightly, to allow for some well-deserved materiality leave for our Hannah, but don’t worry, weekly episodes recommence at the start of March 2024!

In the meantime, why not go back and remind yourself of some of the other amazing episodes that are already out?

AND for as little as £3 a month, you can support them on Patreon and get access to live Zoom recordings, ad free episodes AND be the subject of one of Taylor's amazing shout-outs! Drunk Women Solving Crime | creating Podcasts | Patreon

It's the DWSC Christmas Message Dec 20, 2023

Show notes

It's CHRIIIIISTMAAAAS! Well, it is now that Catie, Hannah and Taylor have given us their festive message!

So much has happened in 2023, from selling out our biggest room yet at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, to another storming London residency, winning an Independent Podcast Award AND Hannah bringing us a brand new member of the force in the form of her daughter!

There's also a lot to look forward to in 2024, so see ya there!

Thank you all for another amazing year, we couldn't (and wouldn't want to) do it without you and we can't wait for all the adventures we're going to have in 2024, see ya there!

All that remains to say is, have a very happy Christmas and New Year! XXX

DWSC LIVE: With Rosie Dempsey Dec 13, 2023

Show notes

It's part two of the DWSC Flo and Joan special, when we welcome 'Joan' aka Rosie Dempsey to the stage and enable her to get some closure on being the subject of two very different crimes, one of which will make you shake with fear at the thought of visiting the Isle of Wight!

The team then solve a case which reads more of a map of Hannah's places of residence than it should do and proves that the written word falling into the wrong hands can be way worse than your WhatsApp messages being made public.

Lastly, what better way to wrap-up a lovely evening than hearing about the time an audience member was the victim of criminal activity, although this case is proof that sometimes crime DOES pay!

BUT this isn’t all! We take a short 5mins in the middle of the episode to find out what our gals would do if they won the lottery, AND they speak to another podcaster about what they might do with this instant wealth. This has a particular interest for Catie, as that podcaster happens to be her husband, Richard Herring, who may, or may not tell her if his numbers should come up (AWKWARD)!

DWSC LIVE: With Nicola Dempsey Dec 06, 2023

Show notes

This episode was released in the darkest days of winter, BUT it was actually recorded back in the heady days of summer when Taylor, Catie and Hannah took to the stage for one of their infamous DWSC residency shows in London, in which they achieved the impossible and split apart comedy double act (and real-life sisters) Flo and Joan - aka Nicola and Rosie Dempsey.

You can now hear show one of that night, when Nicola (Flo) joined the ladies on stage to recount the time she stood next to a crime, which involved a celebrity friend and saw first-hand how the police reacted to the famous prey.

The team then dive straight into a story which has all the hallmarks of a tale you couldn't make up - and will confirm your lack of even the most basic of survival skills.

We then hear from an audience member whose crime story is a hard one for anyone to follow and had a sticky start rather than a sticky end.

Next week, it's part two of this Flo and Joan double bill, when you'll hear what happened when Rosie Dempsey joined the force, and helped solve a crime which straddles the stomping grounds of our very own Hannah George.
