Episode 94: Think on your Feet X Dec 20, 2018

Show notes

Join Frank for Think on your Feet episode ten! How did we get to ten episodes of Frank struggling at Arkham? Who knows? But this description won't have answers because this is a surprise bonus episode!
In Think on your Feet episodes, a live play series of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There may be mistakes and misplays, but hopefully some successes too.

Episode 93: Did You Think Azathoth Had Forgotten You? Dec 13, 2018

Show notes

Join Peter and Frank as they go toe to toe with the blind idiot god itself, Azathoth... aka Matt Newman, lead developer of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. Which is kind of convenient given this is a podcast all about Arkham Horror: The Card Game!
Huge thank you to Matt for joining us for a post-The Forgotten Age debrief. We get a chance to talk player cards with Matt, including the seal mechanic and relics, then go through the scenarios of the cycle and delve into some of the knottier questions around TFA. Was it a harder cycle? Was Alejandro really that untrustworthy? Are snakes actually bad? And then, finally, we take a look at The Circle Undone and what's ahead in the game.

Episode 89: Opening Moves Nov 08, 2018

Show notes

Join Peter and Frank as they talk about opening moves. What's the best way to exploit a mulligan? How important is it to play assets turn 1? What do you even need to keep in mind when getting the best start in a scenario?

Episode 88: Trick or Treat Oct 31, 2018

Show notes

Join Peter and Frank as they talk to a special guest from across the ocean - not Matt Newman, but nearly as good, and certainly as friendly. They talk about Arkham Horror (surprise!), what cooperative players want and announce a really cool new Arkham playing augmentation you definitely want to take a look at. Thanks for joining us, Steven!

Episode 87: Think on your Feet IX Oct 25, 2018

Show notes

Join Frank for the ninth Think on your Feet, in which Calvin Wright – or his successor – continues investigations into the madness and mystery surrounding the King in Yellow.
In light of the Patreon support and because I want to enhance listening to Drawn to the Flame, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the experience. Toot toot!
Note: there was a microphonic problem in the latter stages of this episode, and I've spent a decent two hours trying to remove it, but I haven't quite succeeded. Think of it as atmospherics rather than just incompetence, and I hope it doesn't spoil your listening experience!
Here's the deck before Black Stars Rise: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/238566.
Here's the deck before Dim Carcosa: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/238606.
During the edit I spotted a misplay I made while playing. At 1hr11 minutes, I believe I played True Survivor even though I had Whispers in Your Head (Doubt) in my hand. Believe me, it didn't matter!...

Episode 86: Thinking about Carolyn Fern Oct 18, 2018

Show notes

Join Peter and Frank as they talk about Carolyn Fern. This isn't quite a Carolyn Fern investigator-specific episode so much as a 'one deck we made together for Carolyn'-specific episode. We talk about her deckbuilding rules, what sorts of ramifications they have and the challenges they pose for playing the game.
Here's the deck we built together: https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/7593/mind-over-madness-1.0

Episode 85: Frank's First Look at The Depths of Yoth Oct 11, 2018

Show notes

The depths of Yoth! The depths of Yoth! Join Frank for a first look at the player cards of the fifth mythos pack in The Forgotten Age cycle. His mind is well and truly fed!
Howler warning: I called "I've got a plan" "I've had worse" at about 7minutes. What a dummy! I've definitely not had worse than that!
