**MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: DECEMBER 7!** Are you paying too much for your Medicare coverage? Your Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan could cost you more in 2027, even if you keep the same plan. Don't let an expensive Medicare mistake take money out of your pocket!
In this video, Dr. Ed Weir, former Social Security District Manager and Medicare specialist, explains what you need to know before the December 7 Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) deadline and how reviewing your coverage could help you save hundreds or even thousands of dollars in 2027, depending on your situation.
**Your Medicare plan may be changing, even if you aren't!**
Medicare Advantage and Part D plans can change their premiums, deductibles, copayments, prescription drug coverage, pharmacy networks, and other benefits each year. Your doctors and hospitals may also no longer participate in your Medicare Advantage plan's network.
And here's something many people don't realize: **Your current plan may automatically renew for 2027, even if a different plan would save you money or provide better coverage.** Some plans won't be available next year at all.
    In this video, we'll explain:
✅ **December 7 deadline:** What happens if you miss Medicare Open Enrollment?
✅ **Save money in 2027:** How to compare premiums, deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket costs.
✅ **Keep your doctor:** How to check whether your doctors, specialists, and hospitals will still be in your plan's network.
✅ **Prescription drug costs:** Why you should check your medications and pharmacy coverage, even if you like your current plan.
✅ **Medicare Advantage changes:** What to do if your plan is being discontinued or your benefits are changing.
✅ **Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC):** The important Medicare letter you should read before making your decision.
✅ **Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage:** What to consider before changing your coverage, including Medigap eligibility.
✅ **Financial assistance:** How Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help may lower costs for eligible beneficiaries.
**IMPORTANT MEDICARE DATES FOR 2027 COVERAGE**
📅 October 15, 2026: Medicare Open Enrollment begins.
📅 **December 7, 2026: Last day of Medicare Open Enrollment.**
📅 January 1, 2027: Coverage changes made during Open Enrollment generally take effect.
You don't have to change Medicare plans every year. But you should review your coverage every year to make sure you're not paying more than necessary or risking unexpected medical bills.
**Don't just renew your Medicare plan without checking it first!**

Social Security: 73 More Full Checks Before a Possible 22% Cut Oct 10, 2026
    Show notes

Your Social Security check is too important to let myths keep us divided.
“It’s going bankrupt.” “It’s just welfare.” “There’s nothing we can do.” How much of what you’ve heard about Social Security is actually true?
I’m Dr. Ed Weir, former Social Security District Manager. In this video, I break down the myths, misleading political talking points, and misunderstandings that distract us from the real questions: What threatens your benefits—and what can Congress do to protect them?
We’ll examine claims about the trust fund, government borrowing, who receives benefits, and whether benefit cuts are unavoidable.
The stakes are personal. The 2026 Trustees project that retirement and survivor benefits face a 22% funding shortfall when reserves run out in 2032 if Congress makes no changes. That is a warning we can act on—not a cut we must accept.
Whether you vote Republican, Democrat, or independent, you deserve accurate information about the benefits you earned. Let’s stop arguing over myths and start demanding answers.
Which Social Security claim do you want me to explain? Leave it in the comments.

Start Social Security Before 2027: Know the Monthly Earnings Rule Oct 04, 2026
    Show notes

Should you start your Social Security retirement benefits in 2027—or wait for a larger monthly check? Before you choose, understand what that decision could mean for your money and your family.
Dr. Ed Weir explains what to consider before claiming: your age, monthly expenses, work plans, health, savings, and household needs. Learn how starting at 62, full retirement age, or later affects your benefit—and why waiting isn’t the right choice for everyone.
We’ll discuss how working can affect payments before full retirement age, why Medicare enrollment needs separate attention, and how spouse and survivor benefits can influence your decision.
YOUR NEXT STEP: Get your personal Social Security estimates for the start dates you’re considering. Compare those amounts with your expenses and the money you would use while waiting.
This video covers retirement benefits. SSI and disability benefits have different rules. Examples do not promise a specific 2027 payment.

Why AI Promises Won’t Help With Today’s Social Security Costs Oct 03, 2026
    Show notes

Elon Musk says AI and robots could bring “universal high income.” But if technology creates enormous wealth, what makes sure any of that money reaches YOU?
After Musk’s remarks alongside President Trump at the White House, Dr. Ed asks the question missing from the rosy predictions: who gets the money—and what happens to people struggling while they wait?
We’ll discuss universal basic income, AI replacing jobs, billionaire wealth, healthcare costs, and what this debate means for seniors, workers, people with disabilities, and families living on Social Security.
This is a discussion about Musk’s prediction—not an announcement of approved payments or a new benefit you can apply for.
