Could Highlander syndrome help humans become immortal? Apr 15, 2026
    Show notes

Humans have long been intrigued by the idea of achieving eternal life, and wondered whether it could ever become possible thanks to medical and technological advances. But in the case of some individuals it seems that it may even be randomly bestowed upon them. Let’s take South Korean man Shin Hyo Myung for example.

Ever since he appeared on eNews24 in 2013, he’s been used to being the centre of attention. In 2015 he then appeared in a documentary, and was widely described as a 26-year old with the appearance of a 12-year old boy. These days he’s a social media influencer, but even pictures from 2023 show him still looking like a teenager.

How do doctors explain his condition? What are the causes? So can the Highlander syndrome truly make someone immortal? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Why do doctors advise against chewing gum? Apr 15, 2026
    Show notes

Chewing gum first appeared in the United Kingdom in the year 1911, when AMerican manufacturer William Wrigley founded a British subsidiary. And it’s only become more and more popular as time with time. During World War II, American soldiers traded sticks of gum with European locals for rations.

More recently, a widely-cited estimation from the early 2000s suggested there were 28 million regular chewers in the United Kingdom, making Brits the second biggest consumers of gum in the world!

Why do people say it's bad for us then? What about oral health? There you have it, now you know why doctors advise against chewing gum! In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What threat does the Year 2038 problem pose to our computers? Apr 15, 2026
    Show notes

Millennials - how well, if at all, do you remember the Y2K bug hype? Back in the 1990s, everyone was freaking out about computers crashing when the clock struck midnight on January 1st, 2000. That was because when computers were first built back in the mid-20th century, they stored years with only two digits instead of four, due to memory limitations. It was feared that when the clock ticked over from '99' to '00' in the year 2000, computers wouldn't recognise the new century and might revert to '1900'.

In the end, it turned out to be much ado about nothing - the widely predicted chaos didn’t materialise. But fast forward two decades later, and some people say we're looking at another potential computer meltdown on January 19, 2038. And at 3 hours, 14 minutes and 7 seconds past midnight, to be precise.

Why is 2038 the new date to watch out for? Is there any way to avoid this? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What is quiet hiring? Apr 14, 2026
    Show notes

After the emergence of ‘quiet quitting’, it's now the turn of quiet hiring. And although the term is relatively new, the practice is not. The term "quiet hiring" first appeared in the report "9 Future of Work Trends for 2023" published at the end of 2022 by Emily McRae, a philosophy professor in New Mexico, USA.

She explains that this phenomenon follows on from the quiet quitting craze that emerged in 2021 after the Covid-19 pandemic which saw a huge wave of resignations sweep the country with nearly 4 million people quitting their jobs every month during this period. Quiet quitters complain that their workload was too heavy for their salary and that Managers were unclear about their tasks or workload, rewarding best performance and thus pushing them to work more.

Where does it come from? But what does this have to do with quiet hiring? But doesn't that open up more opportunities? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Are my smart devices spying on me? Apr 14, 2026
    Show notes

Smart devices can be very handy, but increasingly people are worried about exactly how smart they are, what they know and what they are doing with our data especially after a rogue Roomba ended up sharing embarrassing photos of one young woman on the toilet.

Smart devices are electronic devices or gadgets that have the ability to interact, connect and share information with other smart devices. It is often associated with the term the ‘internet of things’. The Internet of things refers to a network of devices that gather data and share information with each other through the internet. This includes things like smartphones, fitness trackers, smart tvs, smart speakers and much more.

What are smart devices? What are the advantages of smart devices? How can I protect my data from misuse? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

How can I beat Monday morning syndrome? Apr 13, 2026
    Show notes

As the sun sets on this rainy Sunday evening, reality sinks in. You didn't quite muster the energy to venture out, and now it's back to the grindstone. Tomorrow's Monday, signalling the return to work, and with it, a familiar wave of anxiety known as Monday morning syndrome, or the Monday blues.

It's not officially recognised by the medical community, but many people identify with those feelings. A study conducted by Korean researchers in 2010 found that levels of stress hormone cortisol are at their highest on Mondays and Tuesdays, adding weight to the connection. But fear not, battling this weekly struggle isn't as daunting as it seems.

Where can I start in shaking off those Monday blues then ? What are the best ways to bounce back swiftly ? What if I’m still feeling stuck after that ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Is taking milk with coffee good for you? Apr 13, 2026
    Show notes

Coffee purists tend to look down on the likes of the latte, cappuccino and mocha, suggesting that only black coffee is the real deal.

They often double down by saying that drinking coffee with milk causes bloating and messes with digestion. But a recent study from the University of Copenhagen found that it might actually be beneficial for our health, after all.

How so? Is the link proven then? It should help to change some people’s mindsets though, shouldn’t it? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
