Could chronoworking make you work more efficiently? Jul 11, 2025
    Show notes

Most productivity methods aim to boost your efficiency during office hours. But a new technique, based on your biological clock, might be the key: chronoworking.

The term was coined by British journalist Ellen Scott in early 2024 in her newsletter “Working on Purpose.” She predicted that working according to your body clock would be a major trend. Chronoworking means tuning into your natural energy peaks and dips throughout the day, month, or year, and adjusting your work schedule accordingly.

What is chronoworking? How does it work in practice? What exactly is the biological clock? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

How to follow the beach flag system? Jul 09, 2025
    Show notes

The beach flag system is a way of indicating the safety conditions of the water and the beach. It helps you to avoid potential hazards and enjoy your time at the beach.

Not all countries use the same flags or have the same meanings for them. In some countries, such as the USA and Canada, there are more than four colours of flags, such as brown for rip currents or double red for water closed. Therefore, it is important to check the local signs and flags before entering the water in a any country.

What do the different colours mean ? Do all countries follow the same rules ? What other flags might you see in the UK ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Is palm oil really bad for your health? Jul 08, 2025
    Show notes

We know that palm oil cultivation isn’t great for the environment, but it’s also not the best for our health. Despite this, palm oil production continues to soar, reaching a record 77.5 million tonnes in 2023, primarily from Indonesia and Malaysia. It’s the most consumed vegetable oil globally.

The main reason is its cost-effectiveness. This vegetable fat is derived from the fruit of oil palm trees through hot pressing, which extracts about 30% lipids. Its smooth, creamy texture is highly valued by manufacturers for use in both food products and cosmetics like shower gels. Additionally, it has no odor or taste, making it ideal for preserving food.

Why is palm oil so popular? Why is palm oil considered unhealthy? Does palm oil have any benefits? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

How to make the most out of a rental property? Jul 08, 2025
    Show notes

There are lots of advantages to renting rather than buying but one of the pitfalls is you have to live with your landlord's style choices. But just because you are renting does not mean you can’t adapt it to your own personal style without jeopardising your deposit. So here are some tips and advice about how to put your own flair into a temporary space.

First of all, if you do want to make changes like painting walls, adding wallpaper or putting up shelves you need to ask for permission from your landlord. Although these can be aesthetic and useful they can also be pricey and once you move out the landlord might ask you to put things back to how they were so it is worth considering carefully if you really need or want these changes. But there are lots of things you can do without making permanent adjustments to your home.

How can I personalise my rental home? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What is the Matilda Effect? Jul 07, 2025
    Show notes

Imagine humanity only using half the brains at its disposal to solve the many scientific challenges it faces in the present and future. While such an idea might seem crazy, it’s not so far from reality.

Over the years, very few female scientists have got the same level of acclaim as their male counterparts, whether it be in the history books or on award winner lists. As a simple illustration, if you ask someone to name a female scientist, Marie Curie may well be the first name they come up with. Even so, her husband is often referenced as having contributed to her work, and she is rarely referred to by her last name alone.

Where did the name Matilda effect come from? Do you have any examples of forgotten female scientists? What can we do to help these female scientists be remembered? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Do penises really get bigger in the summer? Jul 07, 2025
    Show notes

Many men feel self-conscious about the size of their penis, and it’s often down to constant comparisons with other men, driven by pornography.

Interestingly, some men have noticed that their penis appears bigger during warmer weather, and online discussions of this have led to the phenomenon becoming known as "summer penis."

Is there any basis to those claims though? Just how much bigger can it get then? What determines penis size? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
