Jawsapalooza aka The 1916 Shark Attacks & The USS Indianapolis Jul 26, 2021

Show notes

In this episode Regina and Lynn share their love of sharks, particularly their love of all things Jaws related with two true life tales that lent inspiration to the movies.
Regina tells us the tale of the 1916 shark attacks on the New Jersey shore that inspired Peter Benchley's break away novel Jaws. We all know Regina loves delving into that era in American history, and yet again she comes back with the glaring truth of just how little people knew about things we take for granted today.
Lynn brings us home with the real life horror story that fueled the character Quint's hatred for sharks, the story of the USS Indianapolis and the fate of the 1,196 man crew who went into the water. Delving into the darker side of terrible we see how assumption, poor communication, and baseless blame can equal tragedy.

Public Spectacles: The Shakespeare Riots and the Absolutely Bananas 1904 Olympic Marathon Jun 29, 2021

The Shakespeare Riots, that's what. If shouting "fire!" in a crowded theater sounds like your idea of a good time, this episode is for you. Or, if you happen to be a sports fan or just a fan of absolute and complete mayhem, our dive into the 1904 Olympic Marathon, aka the most demented race ever run, might be up your alley. So lace up your running shoes, choke down a strychnine and egg white omelet (breakfast of champions!) and try not to die on your way to the finish line of this episode.

Criminally Dumb AKA The Murder of Albert Snyder May 03, 2021

Show notes

In this episode Regina tells us about one of the most famous crimes of the 1920's, the Dumbbell Murder. This is the sensational murder of Albert Snyder, and of the two people who put the criminal into criminally dumb. Ruth Snyder and Henry Judd Gray, also known as the Granite Woman and the Putty Man will never be known as masterminds, and in this episode we see why.
With a murder trial that was attended by celebrities, a Guns-N-Roses connection, and the tag line of "a cheap crime, for cheap people" it has a little bit of something for everyone!
