Synanon AKA Jet Skis, Not Cults May 29, 2023

Show notes

In this episode Lynn tells us about her recent kinda run in with Synanon while in Europe, and about the wild California cult that started it all. The phrases, 'tough love', 'today is the first day of the rest of your life', and 'cold turkey', may not have the happy origin that we want them to since they were all popularized by megalomaniac and cult leader Charles Dederich Sr.
Just remember folks, brainwashing is never good.

Lucky Koala Farts aka Douglas Snair & Drop Bears Mar 27, 2023

Show notes

In this episode Lynn brings us the story of Douglas Snair, the Luckiest Man in Canada. The ladies have seen some interesting titles assigned to people over the years, and they are mostly deserved, Douglas lives up to this rule! This story shows that The Halifax Explosion seems to be the subject material that keeps on giving.
Meanwhile Regina forces us to ask, do you want to play a game? That's right, she is bringing us the first game of Real Animal, Cryptid, or BS as she tells us about Drop Bears. That's right, Australia's most horrifying creature since the Magpie makes for interesting subject matter.
Do Something: The ladies are recommending reaching out to your local area SPCA, or animal shelter, in honor of the menagerie that season five is turning into.

Ines de Castro & Owls AKA The Corpse Queen & The Bard Feb 27, 2023

Show notes

In this new tale Regina brings us a love story of the most gothic kind while Lynn delights us with owls.
First Reg dives into the story of The Corpse Queen of Portugal, Ines de Castro, and her love Pedro the First, The Cruel. In a gruesome love story for the ages Pedro coins the term "f@ck around and find out" while inspiring art for generations and winning the heart of every little gothling to come for ages after.
It looks like the ladies dynamic is back to normal since Regina is back to being the darker side of terrible. We have not seen her so excited about a story since she pitched the tale of Tararre to Lynn...
Then Lynn brings us home with owls! If you are wondering how owls are disturbing, well just you wait...
With a plant queen, goddesses, a really specific way to die, and the tale of Lynn the Bard being robbed in her prime it is a wild ride.

Hippo Ranching & Lizard People aka The Great Fever Dream & The Coldest Blood Jan 30, 2023

Show notes

Season 5 is off with a bang as Regina tells us the tail of hippo ranching and what could have been a very big aggressive problem in the south. This story is busting at the seams with kooky characters, bad ideas, and a sense of entitlement that only the early 1900's can bring. It also makes us question what might have been if 'lake cow bacon' had become a core element in the American diet.
Lynn comes back with the whacky wtf'ery that is lizard people. People really believe in this stuff and take innocent lives because of their delusions. This cast is definitely NOT run by lizard people...
