Show notes
First in Deerhoof and then on his own over four consistently brilliant solo LPs (including the brand-new Hardly Art release Paint A Room), Chris Cohen’s been gifting us with projects over the last 25 years that’ve run the gamut stylistically. Massive success inevitably beckons, and that’s the objective truth.
Here’s just a few of the things Chris and I discuss in this podcast:
- How his creative process fundamentally shifted for the construction of his brilliant new LP, Paint A Room;
- A shockingly bare and extremely in-depth discussion of his father’s addictions and indiscretions, not to mention the trauma that created for Chris (which was then funneled into the autobiographical bravery of his third album);
- And a song-by-song analysis of both Paint A Room and 2019’s self-titled LP!
I support a wife and a five-year-old son with Discograffiti as my sole source of income. If you love the episode, please see fit to toss me a tip. Venmo Gebroe @David-Gebroe (and yes, even a dollar will be massively helpful), pretty please & thank you! See below for other ways to support the show where you get stuff in return!
