    Disability After Dark

This is a podcast that looks at disability stories. it’s like sitting down with a really close friend to have real conversations about disability, sexuality and everything else about the disability experience that we don’t talk about; the things about being disabled we keep in the dark. The show is hosted by Disability Awareness Consultant Andrew Gurza.

Episode 073 - Promposal or Pity-Posal? The Rise of Digital Ableism Feb 16, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I talk about the rise of viral promposals where non-disabled people ask disabled teens to the prom in high school or middle school and have it recorded and it goes viral or gets picked up by the news outlets. I share why I think this is problematic in all the ways and why I think we need to reconsider our consumption of "digital ableism" and promposals, and suggest that the disabled person may feel differently about the whole thing, and that the media must also focus on them. I have included some examples of this digital ableism below.

Episode 068 - Do You Even Crip, Bro? The Gym, Sex and Disability Jan 12, 2018
    Show notes

In this first episode of 2018, we look at how gym culture and the pursuit of the gym cut body we all want so we can have "better sex" aligns with (or totes doesn't) with disability culture. I share some of my experiences at the gym as a queer cripple, we can giggle at how inaccessible some of the workouts for better sex actually are, and I suggest that fucking a cripple might even be a better work out. Enjoy!
