31. Evan Mathews (Tomahawk Baby/MALIA) Dec 07, 2020

Show notes

weeoo weeoo! Bromance alert! My guest this week is the sweet soul, Evan "E.T." Mathews a.k.a. Tomahawk Baby. I love this guy so much. We met working together a while back and instantly fell in love, bonding over music, comedy, art and hating our job. We talk about interning for Syd, making music with his two younger twin brothers, being a transplant from the South to LA, working with his long-time collaborator, MALIA and more. Thanks for the support with last week's episode. I'm feeling the love. Enjoy the show!

28. Dave Monks (Tokyo Police Club) Nov 17, 2020

Show notes

Loooooove chatting with heroes. Dave is Canadian indie rock royalty. And though he denies being part of the "money club", there's no denying his influence on practically any indie band over the past 10 years. We talked through each of his records, discussed what makes one a "nerd", how to discern between what songs belong to what projects and the ever fluctuating relationships of a band. And though we spoke for a while, I really felt we only scratched the surface. Enjoy! 27. Kyle Morton (Typhoon) Nov 10, 2020

Show notes

Dude....what an episode. I really felt a kindness and a kinship with our guest this week. Kyle Morton is the frontman of orchestral-indie rock band, Typhoon. Kyle is a pensive and fun guy. We dip between grandiose pontification, comedy fandom and eventually songwriting and touring. Enjoy!

25. Joe Vann (From Indian Lakes) Oct 20, 2020

Show notes

Our guest this week is Joey Vannucchi. He fronts From Indian Lakes, he's got new solo projects sprouting up everywhere and he's been a big inspiration of mine for years so this is a fun one. Joe's a calming presence, and he shares a lot of insight into how to carry yourself as a DIY musician, what it takes to make sure you recreate yourself with every release and also the benefits of getting back to his roots in Yosemite after living in New York. Enjoy!

Show notes

Hi there! My band Arms Akimbo released a brand new single. It's called "Dizzy" and I'm real proud of it. This episode is a lil' behind the scenes on the songwriting and crafting of how a song is made in my particular band, from the steps it took me to write it, to the orchestration my band used to build it and the production collaboration with our friend and producer, Brian Rosemeyer. Enjoy!

23. Petal Oct 06, 2020

Show notes

Our guest today is Kiley Lotz AKA Petal. We had a pretty amazing talk. Intense at times since this was back a few months and our eyes were newly opened to some injustices that have been going on for...ever. We talk a lot about the state of the world, the state of the music industry and how the quarantine affects our personal relationships with artistry. We also reminisce on hitting the road together. 22. Parker Gispert (The Whigs) Sep 29, 2020

Show notes

Dude....what? This guys like, my bud now and that makes me happy. My guest today has been a personal influence and legend of mine for about 12 years. His name is Parker Gispert and he fronts The Whigs. He's toured with other amazing acts like Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Drive-By Truckers and a ton more. He's played a bunch of Late Night sets including ones with Dave Letterman. The bulk of our talk however is in reference to a time when he and his band took a chance on me at a show in San Diego and gave me a shot at playing onstage with them. Big moment for a 16 year old...Other than that we discuss rediscovering your identity as a solo artist, the difference between club and arena tours and the perks of quarantining in the woods. Enjoy!
