    DIE-ALOGUE

What are we even talking about when we talk about true crime?

That’s the big question DIE-ALOGUE host, Rebekah Sebastian, is getting to the heart of when she interviews her guests — a diverse cross section of true crime and criminal justice players. From lawyers and creators, to authors and survivors, DIE-ALOGUE examines the most compelling aspects of true crime, challenges the genre’s tropes, and explores the ethics of true crime content for both creators and consumers. Listen in to hear the leading voices in crime, culture and justice.

    Show notes

Please welcome Tiffany Reese to DIE-ALOGUE! Sometimes I can't help myself and I must reach out to a creator while still enjoying their poddcast/book/show, etc. Tiffany is one of those people. Something Was Wrong - her podcast about human dynamics, emotional abuse, and gaslighting, is SO compelling and so UNLIKE anything else I have heard. If you've yet to download and listen, do not delay - subscribe to her show, and get excited because her forthcoming season is about a cult! Also, you will be in great company because her podcast is wildly successful with a huge following. Tiffany was so warm and easy to talk to, but equally inspiring. She is a true creative who in addition to a 4th season of SWW, will release a book later this year. Her currently available book is so fun and would make a great gift. I am excited for you to hear from her. Follow her and her show on instagram: @lookieboo @somethingwaswrongpodcast Reminder! MERRY CHRISTMAS, DIE-HARDS! Making this podcast is such a gift to me, and I am grateful to each one of you who listens! We are continuing the conversation about the Netflix doc; 'The Confession Killer' Today you will get to hear a master story teller share more of his experience around the case of Henry Lee Lucas... Meet Vic Feazell - the DA who was featured in the recent Netflix Doc; 'The Confession Killer.' Vic truly emerges as the hero of the story and I was thrilled he wanted to be on the podcast. Buckle up - his stories are even wilder than what you saw in the film - and if you haven't watched The Confession Killer yet, what are you waiting for? Vic is more than a former DA though. He is a champion of justice and truth, a practicing attorney, a loving father, an ordained minister, a yogi and a podcaster! Check out the Vic Feazell Show where he dives deep into the cases connected to Henry Lee Lucas. Robert Kenner + Taki Oldham | Netflix Confession Killer Dec 18, 2019
    Show notes

Everyone is talking about Netflix's new true crime doc - Confession Killer. Robert Kenner and Taki Oldham are the producers and directors, and lucky me, I got to speak with both of them! We wasted no time and dove right into plot and the mystery of who Henry Lee Lucas is? Liar? Sociopath? Serial Killer? Simpleton? This documentary is worth the buzz and warrants a conversation on DIE-ALOGUE, because it transcends a story about murder; it is about a broken system, what we choose to believe, and how to justice for victims and their families. Enjoy this dynamic conversation with two of the film industry's leading documentary film makers. If you want to check out their other work ( which we briefly discuss) visit Robert Kenner Films to find their films about climate change, the farming and food industry, and many others! Keith Sharon is a veteran journalist with the OC Register, and has been called a Master Storyteller - he's written screenplays too, including 2019's "Searching for Steve McQueen.' He is also host of the Crime Beat Podcast, and trust me when I tell you that Keith eats sleeps, and breathes true crime, so naturally, we had a lot to talk about! I'm thrilled to have made his acquaintance and look forward to seeing more of what he puts into the world.

Josh Bloch is a talented journalist with CBC radio, host of the UNCOVER: Escaping NXIVM Podcast, and all around,, super nice guy! I was thrilled when we agreed to be a guest because I could talk about Keith Raniere, Allison Mack, and NXIVM endlessly. And we do. The Fall Line Podcast | Laurah Norton + Brooke Hargrove Nov 27, 2019
    Show notes

Laurah Norton & Brooke Hargrove are the creators of The Fall Line Podcast - a true-crime podcast that digs deep into cold cases that have received little, if any, public attention. You will hear all about how they seek out, filter, and choose the cases they cover. It is clear in the conversation, that both women put their heart into this work, though what that looks like varies for each of them. Together they have created something truly unique that has had tremendous success, but more importantly, has served families of victims who have not previously had a platform to share their stories. You can listen to The Fall Line here. Their website has more information, and both women also consulted on the recent Oxygen Special, "The Disappearance of the Millbrook Twins," which Laurah & Brooke covered in Season One. Dr. Scott + Dr. Shiloh | LA Not So Confidential Podcast Nov 20, 2019
    Show notes

Last month I had a stellar weekend in Los Angeles, and the true highlight culminated in my last night there, when I got to interview Dr. Scott + Dr. Shiloh, hosts of LA Not So Confidential podcast! I only met them this this summer at the True Crime Podcast Festival in Chicago, but it was one of those fast, easy connections where you instantly know you've met your people. Interviewing them was a lot like listening to their podcast - constantly learning as they speak! Except this was harder, because I had to be present, responsive AND think of the next questions. I think I did ok. I was hoping for some clear cut/black and white answers on some questions, but I guess human psychology is more art than science because their responses were incredibly informative, but not straight forward. My brain hurts just a little. They are heroes for the work they do, and certainly among my favorite podcasters. Please check out their show on the crawlspace network. Hello, DIE-HARDS! Today's episode is full of wisdom, and that is because my guest is so wise, so gracious, and so dedicated. Welcome Mani Tafari- a criminal defense attorney in Queens, NYC, and who you might remember from the HBO doc, "Who Killed Garett Phillips?" where he is featured as Mr.Nick Hilary's attorney, legal advocate,a nd friend. If you have not seen this doc, WATCH IT ASAP. It is so well done - very thought provoking. Mani and I discuss issues like race and justice and I feel so vindicated in my love of true crime because he believes that sharing these stories is vital and positive. He also prefers to speak of true crime as true JUSTICE, and I so here for it. You can find Mani on twitter @AfricananAfric1. I really want to hear what you think of this epoisode.
