In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer exposes the Left's attempt to brand Americans who love both Jesus and their country as ‘Christian Nationalists.’ In homage to 1930 Fascism, the left has uncorked a full-scale propaganda campaign, spearheaded by Hollywood film director, Rob Reiner who will release his new documentary God and Country, in February just in time for the 2024 election. ‘Christian Nationalism’ is the left’s latest boogeyman of the day. Meathead, the character played by Reiner in the 70s sitcom All in the Family, hopes the film will fool enough Americans into believing the Nazis are back and controlling the Republican Party to reelect President Joe Biden, whose low poll numbers have the Democratic Party seriously spooked.

Bauer says that left-wing, neo-Marxist ideologies, which are taught and celebrated at colleges everywhere are squarely to blame. He points to a recent scientific survey that showed that the more highly educated an individual is (advanced degrees and significant time in spent in higher education), the more likely they were to hold to strong antisemitic, anti-American, and anti-Christian views.

Reflections on the Origin of Thanksgiving and Its Influence on America Nov 30, 2023

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer embarks on a journey that traces the origins of the first Thanksgiving celebrated by the Pilgrims in the autumn of 1621. This first Thanksgiving came as a result of a harsh 1620 winter, where as many as half the original colonists died. It was after a strong crop harvest the following year that the Pilgrims decided to hold a day of celebration and prayer, and they invited their Native American friends, who had helped them along the way, to join them. Fast forward 168 years, when our nation’s first President, George Washington, issued the Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789, which described in its opening sentence what the occasion was all about. President Washington wrote: “Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor…” Seventy-four years later, Abraham Lincoln in his 1863 proclamation urged all Americans to observe the last Thursday of November “… as a Day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.” The fact that Lincoln could call for such a day even during the sufferings of the Civil War demonstrates how much he believed that all our blessings came from the “Most High God.” With this act, the American tradition of Thanksgiving was ensconced into our culture. May we never forget.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer chats with Kirk Cameron, American actor, evangelist, and television host. Kirk shares what challenged him to launch his child reading program in public libraries. He saw how libraries in large cities were not being utilized by locals because they had become overrun by crime, drugs, and homelessness. As Christians, Cameron says, we must take a stand for riotousness in the public square. “We need to bring the blessings of heaven to our cities…so that the goodness of God, not only in salvation but also in the positive influence Christianity, will have an impact on our society,” Cameron insisted.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer calls out pro-Hamas marchers in New York City for their brazen hatred of Jews on Veterans Day. Thousands of these demonstrators were heard shouting slogans the infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels would have thought useful in the 1930s. As if this wasn’t outrageous enough, these same miscreants scaled statues and tore down American flags, so they could be trampled underfoot. Then they replaced the downed American flags with the Palestinian flag. This will most certainly be a Veterans Day Manhattanites will remember, but for the most heinous reasons. The same kinds of marches occurred all over the world, including on Remembrance Day in London, where tens of thousands of anti-Israel Muslims organized identical activities and marches. But Bauer says there is some good news. On Tuesday, November 14, more than 290,000 Americans held a somber and peaceful march on the Washington, D.C. Mall in support of Israel. This was a beautiful and encouraging site. As Christians, we must continue to pray for Israel in this time of peril and also for Jews in our local communities. After all, Jesus said in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Most disturbing was the demonstration that happened over the weekend in Washington, D.C., where nearly 100,000 Islamist-supporting activists defaced statues of America’s historical heroes, surrounded the White House, and chanted, “Biden, Biden you can’t hide!” All while attempting to breach the perimeter fencing. Bauer issues a dark warning. These pro-Hamas antisemites don’t just hate Jews, they also hate America.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer celebrates the election of Rep. Mike Johnson as the new Republican Speaker of the House. In his acceptance speech, Speaker Johnson stated his strong agreement with the founders where they wrote in the Deceleration of Independence that our freedoms come from God, not government. Since this speech the Speaker was interviewed by Sean Hannity at Fox News, where Hannnity asked Rep. Johnson about his political philosophy. “Go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview. That’s what I believe,” Johnson replied. This isn’t sitting well with the mainstream media or Democrats in Washington, D.C., who are caterwauling that the new Speaker wants to turn America into a Christian theocracy! Bauer reminds listeners that this is nonsense and that Speaker Johnson’s beliefs are solidly in alignment with the vast majority of the Founding Fathers, and even those of religious skeptic Benjamin Franklin, who said in a speech near the end of his life, “I have lived a long time, sir, and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men.”
