ep 036: actress/singer Jan 10, 2019

Show notes

hi all. back with a surprise episode for the new year. i go on a long monologue about acting and performing music. i hope it rings true to ya'll in some way, because it helped me crystallize a lot of ideas i was having about performing, and how i always felt uncomfortable with it. and i truly think acknowledging all the roles a person can play will help develop some empathy for our beloved performers, be they of any artistic medium. hope ya'll are having a solid 2019 so far. xoxo talk to you soon.

ep 035: crazy talk Nov 08, 2018

Show notes

what do patsy cline and gnarls barkley have in common? they both wrote a song called crazy and we analyze both and decide who wore it better. how is the word crazy best represented in musical language? what is the infinite in music and how can you represent it? why can i listen to the gnarls barkley crazy until i go blind? who exactly is HW plainfield? how many homer simpsons can you pack into a backing choir? we love you all keep hitting us up with your thots and opinions. we'll be back in two thursdays with some more killer content. xoxo deadheirrecords

ep 034: radio drama Oct 25, 2018

Show notes

hi folks it's an episode about the aught's favorite hipsters the decemberists! every once in awhile it's healthy to acknowledge that our personal heritage is made up of sad white guys, so we take a listen to a song i've been hearing on the radio a lot called "sucker's prayer." we talk timelessness, "the nihilistic happy", nostalgia, harold and maude, and longmont potion castle, somehow. see everybody in two weeks! xoxo dhr

ep 033: we're back Oct 11, 2018

ep 032: a brief history of every idea ive ever had Jun 15, 2018

Show notes

holy moly does anyone remember "all for love" from the three musketeers? it came out in 1993, and rod stewart, bryan adams, and sting really go hogs deep in this one. we talk about it for longer than anyone arguably should. but boy oh boy what a pretty song. ever wondered what dependability sounds like in its platonic ideal? this song. i hope you all enjoy. pics of the analysis on our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deadheirrecords/ stay tough everyone xoxo deadheirrecords
