    What Frederick Douglass Might Say to Us Today Jun 08, 2020

    The wisdom of leaders like 19th-century abolitionist Frederick Douglass is critical at this moment in America’s history. The Rev. Dean Nelson, the executive director of Human Coalition Action and chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, joins the show to explain what Douglass’ message to America might be if he were with us today.


    Nelson also explains that to end racism in America, society as a whole must place a value on all human life, whether that be babies in the womb or grown men like George Floyd.

    Kay C. James on Why Conservatives Should Lead the Civil Rights Movement Jun 05, 2020
    Show notes

    The killing of George Floyd was “a tipping point for many Americans” says Kay C. James, president of The Heritage Foundation.

    James lived through the civil rights movement and has experienced segregation firsthand. Today, she joins the podcast to share her own story. “I thankfully have lived long enough to see that the America that I loved provided a means and a pathway forward, but I am also not blind to what exists today,” says James.

    James also encourages conservatives to be the voices leading the civil rights movement today, because conservative solutions have the power to end many of the racial inequalities the African American community is experiencing.

    Why Third-Degree Murder May Be the Wrong Charge Against Derek Chauvin Jun 03, 2020
    Show notes

    Derek Chauvin, the officer who arrested George Floyd and proceeded to press his knee into Floyd’s neck for over eight minutes, has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Some legal experts are raising questions as to whether or not these are the most appropriate charges to be brought against Chauvin.


    Amy Swearer, a legal fellow in the Heritage Foundation's Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, joins The Daily Signal podcast to discuss the legal implications of Chauvin’s use of force against Floyd and whether or not the charges that have been brought against him are the correct charges for the crime committed.

    One Man's 'Adventure' Quarantined on a Cruise Ship During COVID-19 Jun 01, 2020

    Burt Quick, a retired California police chief, took a cruise with his wife last winter only to be quarantined on the ship for five days when other passengers got sick with COVID-19. Quick and his wife then spent two weeks quarantined at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Georgia along with hundreds of other cruise ship passengers.
