Gingrich Calls on Conservatives to Focus on 'Black Success,' Not 'White Guilt' Jul 02, 2020
    Show notes

How will historians look back at 2020? "I think it's a decisive moment and I don't think we know yet how it's going to work out," says former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

"Once you start tearing down statues, somebody hates the next statue, the statue after that," adds Gingrich, author of "Trump and the American Future: Solving the Great Problems of Our Time." "And then you end up with a statue that was built by freed slaves as a tribute to the man who freed them, Abraham Lincoln, is now inadequate, according to people who don't have a clue what the Civil War was like, what Lincoln did, or how gigantic the change was. So you basically have barbarians."

Students, Faculty Target Professor for Writing Honest History of Black Lives Matter Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

Views that part from far-left progressivism apparently aren't tolerated any longer by many colleges and universities. Bill Jacobson, founder and publisher of Legal Insurrection and professor of law, joins The Daily Signal Podcast to explain why he is being publicly shamed for writing the truth about the Black Lives Matter coalition.

Jacobson, who also directs the Securities Law Clinic at Cornell Law School, wrote a blog post in June explaining the tainted history of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as another post about “anti-American, anti-capitalist activists” who started the movement. For this, Jacobson received a public rebuke from the dean of the law school and faces a student-led effort to boycott his class.

A Young American's Take on Why Electoral College Remains Best Way to Elect President Jun 29, 2020
    Show notes

The best method for electing the president of the United States, debated by the Founding Fathers, is a bone of contention generations later. Today, many call the Electoral College outdated. But Carly Terry, a new high school graduate from Nassau County, Florida, argued in an award-winning essay that the Founders settled on the Electoral College for a reason, and it remains the best way to elect the president.

Terry was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the U.S. Constitution Scholarship Foundation for her essay as a senior in defense of the Electoral College. She and Howard Pines, a founder of the organization, join the podcast to discuss precisely why we shouldn't abandon the Electoral College.

Also on today’s show, we share your letters to the editor and a good news story about the prayer gatherings taking place around the country since the death of George Floyd.

There is no easy answer to America’s racial and political divide. But one thing is clear, healing in America will require both the church and government leaders taking action to build bridges in our nation.

Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and a member of the National Coronavirus Recovery Commission, said in a statement after the killing of George Floyd. Rodriguez joins the podcast to explain the need for a national commission to address the broken trust between the African American community and law enforcement, and the role of the church during this critical time in history.
