What You Can Do to Promote the Pro-Life Cause Even Though the March for Life Is Canceled Jan 26, 2021
    Show notes

The annual March for Life has been canceled for the first time in its 47-year history, due to coronavirus concerns as well as as a result of the pressure law enforcement in and around the Capitol is currently facing.

The annual rally instead will take place virtually, with just a small group of pro-life leaders from across the country marching in Washington this year.

What can you do to promote the pro-life cause even though the March for Life, which annually draws hundreds of thousands of people from across the country to Washington, D.C., won't be held in person this year?

Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, joins "The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss that.

    • Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

    Show notes

Over 14,000 school boards, with about 100,000 members, set the course for instruction in classrooms across the country. To understand the views of parents and school board members in debates about K-12 content and policy, The Heritage Foundation commissioned a nationally representative survey.

The survey covered views on civics education, school discipline, and character- and values-based instruction. Lindsey Burke, director of the Center for Education Policy at The Heritage Foundation, joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss.

Trump Made Foster Children a Priority. That Shouldn't Change Under Biden. Jan 19, 2021
    Show notes

“Every child deserves a family,” begins President Donald Trump’s executive order last June on “Strengthening the Child Welfare System for America’s Children.”

The Trump administration made foster children a priority, working with state and local groups to place children in loving homes more quickly and to ensure that fewer children are entering the system to begin with.

Lynn Johnson, assistant secretary at the Administration for Children and Families, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, joins the show to discuss how that executive order last summer has improved the foster care system and why it’s so important for the incoming Biden administration to continue to make vulnerable children a priority.

We also read your letters to the editor and share a "good news story" about a young woman who found a way to use horses to inspire a love of reading in students.

Here’s What Might Happen If Senate Opts to Hold 2nd Impeachment Trial Jan 15, 2021
    Show notes

President Donald Trump on Wednesday became the first president to be impeached a second time. The House voted 232 to 197 to impeach the president, with 10 Republican members joining all of the Democrats.

President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration is less than a week away, which doesn’t give the Senate enough time to hold a trial before Trump’s term expires. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says that if a Senate trial is to take place, it will occur after Trump leaves office.

Fred Lucas—The Daily Signal’s chief national affairs correspondent, co-host of "The Right Side of History" podcast, and author of the book "Abuse of Power: Inside The Three-Year Campaign to Impeach Donald Trump"—joins the show to explain what precedent exists for holding an impeachment trial after an individual has left office, and what the likely outcome of that Senate trial would be.

    We also cover these stories:

    • Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., says it’s not within the Senate’s purview to hold an impeachment trial after Trump leaves office.
    • Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi proposes a new House rule to fine members $5,000 if they don’t follow new security protocols.
    • Nike announces that it won’t donate to the campaigns of politicians who wanted to decertify the 2020 election results.
