    Dad the Man

Do you have the skills you need to love and lead your family from the front?

My name is Brendan Wall. I am a father of four and married to my best friend. I started this podcast not because I have all the answers, but because I am in search of them. We have one opportunity to be the best men, husbands, and fathers that we can be, and I plan to seize it.

At DAD THE MAN we interview guys we all know and admire professionally, but more importantly, are setting the tone for what a great man, husband, and father looks like. Guys who seize the opportunity before them to love and lead their families from the front, from a place of opportunity not obligation. This is Dad the Man. This is who we all aspire to become. Every single week, you can expect to hear from household names like JORDAN SPIETH, TIM KENNEDY, ERIC DECKER, SEAN LOWE, STIPE MIOCIC, DAVID MELTZER, DR MICHAEL GERVAIS, STAN EFFERDING, MARK BELL, DREW MANNING, DR JOSH AXE, DR JOHN DELONY, ROBB WOLF, JASON KHALIPA, TODD ABRAMS, LEW CARALLA, BERT SORIN, JOHN ELDREDGE, HEATH EVANS, DANIEL CARLSON, YOGI ROTH, PETER BURNS, CARLOS REYES, and many more represent what DAD THE MAN stands for.

As men, husbands, and fathers, we experience and struggle with so many of the same things, and it’s time we recognize that we are all in this together. If you are looking for more purpose, passion, connection, success, and camaraderie in your life, then you are in the right place.

Rory is the Director of Business Development and Athlete representative at Mayhem Nation, where he works alongside the CrossFit goat himself, Rich Froning. Before working with Mayhem, Rory was well known publicly through his role as Media Director and on-camera personality for CrossFit and the Host of the CrossFit Games from 2010-2017. Rory was instrumental in the viral growth that CrossFit experienced, and he accumulated a wealth of industry knowledge and experience during those years, before ultimately being let go by the organization. During our conversation we talk about the impact of this life transition, the importance of faith during that time, and the identity struggle of rediscovering himself away from CrossFit. Simply put, Rory is a stud. He has a really approachable charisma that makes you feel like you've known him forever the first time you speak. Above it all, he is an incredible man, husband, and father, and it was an honor to host him on the show.

Stipe Miocic is a decorated UFC fighter. He is a six time heavy champion of the world and is arguably the greatest heavyweight UFC fighter of all time. He was born in the US to two Croatian immigrants and his athletic talents were apparent from a young age. In college he played baseball and wrestled at the Division I level, which served as his gateway into combat sports, and the rest is history. Besides fighting professionally in the UFC, he also works full time for his local fire department. Today we chat about why he does so despite his success as a fighter. He is a massive dude, standing at 6 foot 4 inches tall, and weighing about 245 pounds. He's very physically imposing, which contrasts his laid back, light hearted, and charismatic personality. It may be odd to refer to someone with a 20-3 record in the UCF, with 15 of those wins coming from knockouts, as a gentle giant, but that's the vibe I got from the baddest man on the planet. Above it all he is an incredible man, husband, and father, and it was an honor to host him on the show.

Along with Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson, Harry Arnett is the cofounder and CEO of the clothing brand Municipal, which was created to motivate people to overcome any obstacle that gets in their way of living their best life. I have a few tshirts from Municipal, and I can honestly say that their "origin" shirt is literally my favorite tshirt in my closet right now. It Is the most comfortable shirt I have. Harry has a really impressive professional resume serving in executive positions at companies like Calloway and TaylorMade. His journey is really interesting because it wasn't until after leading those massive, household brand names that he left to lead a start up company in Municipal. In this conversation we talked about the psychology of this career pivot "later" in the game which I found to be super interesting and inspiring. With a few teenage daughters, Harry is a seasoned dad, and the lessons from his experiences that we chat about today invaluable. Harry is extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and articulate and has a unique approachability to him. He oozes with wisdom, and after chatting with him it's no surprise he's been as successful as he's been.
