Under the Banner of Heaven - Cwic Review Apr 29, 2022

Show notes

Absurdly Negative Cliche of Latter-day Saint Life

I could barely get through the first two episodes of the Under the Banner of Heaven series. It was brutal. An incessant onslaught of stereotypical Mormon life complete with every meme you can think of. The characters talk as if they are 19th-century Amish, the Church history is all negative, and the window on "Mormon" life is a joke. Also, the reverent TV makers insert a temple ceremony complete with Temple Robes.

NAACP /Church Agreement Based On Self-Reliance - Changes Already at Twitter

According to Critical Race Theory and Whiteness Studies, self-reliance is "whiteness". However, this is exactly what the bulk of the NAACP/Church financial agreement is about. The Church is "bucking the system."

Has Twitter's algorithm already been changed since the Elon Musk announcement? Left-leaning accounts are losing followers, others are gaining followers.

Come Follow Me LDS - Exodus 24, 31-34, Tablets & The Higher and Lower Laws Apr 24, 2022

Show notes

The Ascension of Sinai is the Ascension of the Temple

The two sets of tablets are the Higher and the Lower Laws. The Children of Israel reject the opportunity to "see the face of God" which happens at the veil. They reject the Higher Law, the Melchizedek Law. Could the Golden Calf be a representation of Jehovah made into the image of the Children of Israel? Do we make God into our own image?

How Postmodernism Will Change Scripture Apr 22, 2022

Show notes

"Lean not unto thine own understanding"

Postmodernism in light of Proverbs 3:5 -

Postmodernism seeks to elevate your "lived experience" above an objective truth such as the gospel. Postmodernism is primarily responsible for the idea of a "social construct."

I explain how postmodernism and its Deconstruction will attack the scriptures with the example of Nephi's "liken all scripture unto us." This phrase may be used to support the idea that there is no absolute truth and that only our own personal truth matters.

"ites", Babel, Jonathan Haidt, & Social Media Apr 21, 2022

Show notes

Social Media is Disintegrating Society

Author and social phycologist Jonathan Haidt recently wrote an article for the Atlantic. It is a summary of what he has been speaking and writing about for the last 10 years. Like the aftermath of the Tower of Babel, Social Media is pulling us apart and we are speaking our own languages. From simple adjustments such as "share", "retweet", and "like" buttons, our behavior is being manipulated online from social connecters to performers, from authentic statements to dishonesty. We are becoming the "ites" of the Book of Mormon.

Come Follow Me LDS - Exodus 18-20, Moses, Jethro & Priesthood Apr 19, 2022

Show notes

Exodus chapter 18 is not primarily about delegation. It is about the priesthood. It is parallel to Abraham 3. As the stage gets set for the Sinai experience, we see the formation of a temple template through the Interpreter of Temple Imagery and Drama. "Bounds" are set on Sinai, and the Children of Israel become afraid of being "proven".
