Cancelling David O McKay At BYU Hawaii Apr 13, 2023

Show notes

The famous David O. McKay mural is apparently on the chopping block. But suspect reasons for its destruction are plenty. Many on and off campus believe the move is political.

This is an intriguing and meaningful story. No room has been allowed for donors who want to preserve the mural which could be removed as soon as June. The mural is an iconic tie to the legacy and heritage of Polynesian members of the church. Imagine losing the "This Is The Place" monument!

7 Threats in Our Times - Threat 1- "The Rise of the Scoffer and The Depraved Mind" -Del Tackett Apr 06, 2023

Show notes

"The Rise of the Scoffer and The Depraved Mind" is the first in a seven-part series. This interfaith collaboration is based on Del Tackett's series written on his website at deltackett.com In this first episode, we discuss the downward spiral from "Simple" to "Fool" and finally to "Scoffer." This is a Biblical sequence seen all around us today in our culture.

We discuss the perils of moving beyond God's Law of Chastity, how we can be given over to a "Depraved Mind" and how this affects rational thinking. Sound familiar? So often today we are making rational arguments with those who do not accept reason.

Stay tuned for the next episodes in this series.

The Covenant Path, Different Voices, LGBTQ Within The LDS Church Mar 27, 2023

Show notes

This is a panel of three gay/same-sex attraction men who are following the covenant path and are not happy with alternative voices to that path. Cwic Show has always tried to elevate these voices.

"They think the church is denying us from greater happiness and joy by enforcing these archaic Biblical beliefs and that the Brethren should just whip up some revelation to make it easier for us so we can have our gay marriage."

- Discussion on the Pride Flag

- How they interpret LGBTQ attacks on the church

- The role of "Identity"

Some gay Latter-day Saint influencers in the church don't always give a complete covenant path message and they are growing in popularity. In fact, they are traveling around the country giving stake firesides. Often these firesides are good and spiritual. But a quick check of their podcasts and social media shows something different. The voices on this panel are important but are rarely amplified even in "main-stream" LDS media. This is a travesty.

He cites North, East, South, and West directions in the text, population, agriculture, and other points he believes support the Mesoamerican model.

We also cover the crucial point of "Where is the Hill Cumorah?" Everything may ride on how you interpret this location and the history of referring to the hill in New York as Cumorah.
