Walk - God's Patriarchy And Plain and Precious Things, Interfaith Work, Arriving At My Own Testimony Aug 30, 2023

Show notes

God's "Patriarchy" is part of what was lost in the time of Lehi, the Plain and Precious things. It is restored in 1 Nephi 1, Moses 1, and Abraham 3. It is the council of the Gods that we participate in.

Interfaith work is different from missionary work. For those who don't have this experience, it is difficult not to fall into a missionary mindset. But there is goodness to be had in creating relationships with others even if the goal is not conversion. President Nelson gives great examples of this and summarizes this idea in his "Peacemakers" talk.

I have arrived at my testimony in three different ways, Intellectual, Experience, and Spirit.

Tree of Life In Gethsemane - Laman and Lemuel Were Religious - Lehi's Jerusalem Aug 23, 2023

Show notes

Fathom The Good - http://www.fathomthegood.com

Val Larsen and I think a lot alike. I could talk to Val about the Book of Mormon and the Old Testament for hours. This is just one of those hours.

We discuss the two religions of Lehi's Jerusalem and Lehi and Nephi. And the insights on Lehi's Dream are essential and poignant. We show that Laman and Lemuel were religious, just to another religion. The disastrous, centralizing reforms of King Josiah.

Val tells of how the Tree of Life may have been an almond tree shaped like a menorah in Gethsemane on the Mt. of Olives, there since the time of King Solomon. Listen to this episode, and you'll get some real meat.
