Drunk Socialite Rebecca Gross Heads Back to Court, Hit by Parents Civil Suit Oct 12, 2024
    Show notes

A judge has set a new trial date in a civil case against Rebecca Grossman.

The socialite was convicted of second-degree murder in the deaths of two Westlake Village boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander. The 8- and 11-year-old boys were struck and killed by a speeding car driven by Grossman.

Just after 7 p.m. on a September evening, Jacob and Mark Iskander, their siblings, and parents went for an evening stroll to a nearby lake. The six-member family was crossing in a crosswalk at a three-way intersection when mother Nancy heard a speeding car coming their way.

She says her husband and daughter were farther from the street. She tried to signal to two approaching SUVs to slow down. She managed to grab one of her children and dive out of the way, but Jacob and Mark were hit. Mark Iskander died at the scene, and Jacob died later at the hospital. According to police, Mark was thrown 254 feet.

Nancy Iskander told police that two SUVs were "zig-zagging with each other as if they were playing or racing." She said the drivers didn’t stop at the intersection, not even when the 11-year-old was on the hood of the car. Deputies reportedly caught up with a white Mercedes with significant front-end damage a third of a mile from the scene.

Behind the wheel was Rebecca Grossman. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department believes the vehicle was traveling over 80 miles an hour. Grossman’s breathalyzer test after the crash showed a blood alcohol content of 0.076%, according to local news reports.

The legal limit in California is 0.08%. A blood sample taken three hours after the crash registered at 0.08%

SEARCH FOR EVIL UBER DRIVER: MOM CHANTI CALLS CAR AFTER WORK & NEVER GETS HOME Oct 11, 2024
    Show notes

Chanti Dixson gets off of work after midnight Sunday morning, and immediately orders an Uber to run a quick errand before heading home. When they make it to the drop-off location, Chanti asks the driver to wait for her a moment, she’ll order a second ride home when she finishes her errand. The driver agrees and Chanti orders the second ride. A few hours later, Chanti’s family realizes she never made it home. The mom isn’t answering her phone either. When Chanti is still unaccounted for 24 hours later, her family reports her missing and heads to her home to search for clues. Inside her home, a family member finds Chanti’s Apple watch. The watch shows Chanti’s phone is still pinging, not far from her home. The family walks toward the phone’s location, ending up in a wooded area about two blocks away.

As the confused family walks through the area, Chanti’s mom, Rise Dixon doesn’t find her daughter’s phone—but sees what looks like a crumpled figure behind a concrete barrier. As she gets closer, Rise realizes it’s a woman lying on her stomach. Her head is covered with a sweatshirt, and she’s naked from the waist down and unresponsive. Rise calls 911, fearing the worst. Investigators discover the woman died from a single gunshot wound to the temple. Rise identifies the woman as her daughter, Chanti Dixon.

SCOTT PETERSON BIG TRIAL WIN: SWEARS HE KEPT MISTRESS TO "FIND" WIFE LACI Oct 10, 2024
    Show notes

Scott Peterson won another court victory in his attempt to have his murder conviction overturned. He was originally sentenced to death for the murders of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Connor, but that sentence was later overturned. The court determined that Peterson's trial judge improperly dismissed jurors who opposed capital punishment. He was resentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

Now, a California judge is granting Scott Peterson discovery rights, 20 years post-conviction. The defense team believes these materials could support their claims of trial irregularities and potential evidence mishandling. The judge rejected several requests from Peterson's team for specific evidence while approving others.

The Los Angeles Innocence Project and Scott Peterson want to test other items related to a burglary near their home that they believe are connected to the case. Their current theory is that Laci was abducted and killed by burglars who broke into a home across the street from the Petersons' on Christmas Eve 2002. This theory is based on the idea that Laci was still alive after Scott left to go fishing because multiple witnesses saw her walking her dog in the neighborhood.

DNA testing is also being conducted on a piece of duct tape found on Laci Peterson’s remains

DIDDY “PARTY COCKTAIL?” COCAINE & HORSE TRANQ: MOM'S BOMBSHELL Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

Sean "Diddy" Combs' attorneys are returning to court for a third bail hearing, hoping for a different outcome.

A judge previously denied bond, citing Combs as both a flight risk and a threat to witnesses. Combs disputes these concerns. Meanwhile, Combs' mother, Janice Combs, has publicly responded to the allegations for the first time.

In a lengthy statement, she criticized what she called the "public lynching" of her son. While acknowledging that he has made mistakes and been dishonest about his treatment of his ex-girlfriend, she insists he is not guilty of the "repulsive allegations" and charges against him.

Janice Combs described the multiple lawsuits as attempts to extort money and blamed the federal indictment on his legal team's mishandling of Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit.

BRYAN KOHBERGER TRIAL: VICTIM KAYLEE GONCALVES’ DAD WITH US LIVE Oct 08, 2024
    Show notes

Moving the trial of Bryan Kohberger nearly 300 miles from the crime scene may provide a larger jury pool, but it also creates potential hardship for some victims' families.

A GoFundMe account has been launched to help the Goncalves family raise money so they can attend the trial, now set to take place nearly 400 miles from their home. The family, living about 100 miles north of Moscow, has attended every hearing and court appointment since the legal process began and does not want that to change.

The trial of Bryan Kohberger is scheduled for next June and is expected to last about three months. The Goncalves family started the GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Kaylee Goncalves Family Attend Trial" to raise funds for accommodations, hoping to secure an Airbnb or house for all 10 family members and their small pets during the trial.

They also aim to cover loss of income, food, and other essentials. Today, father Steve Goncalves joined Nancy Grace.

WEALTHY UTAH MOM MAKES 'BIG PURCHASE' AFTER SPECIAL OPS HUBBY DISAPPEARS Oct 07, 2024
    Show notes

Matthew Johnson serves in the military as a National Guardsman in the Special Ops Unit.

He takes a brief leave of absence as the children return to school. On the day Johnson is set to return to work, his wife, Jennifer Gledhill, reports him missing. She tells police he should have been home from base hours earlier, but his phone is going straight to voicemail. It turns out Johnson never showed up to work that morning. Jennifer says she last saw him driving away from their home.

The last time anyone other than Jennifer saw Johnson was three days before he was reported missing, at a neighborhood gas station. Neighbors recall seeing his truck and hearing him and Gledhill arguing late into the night.

The next day, Johnson’s communication, even with his children, stopped entirely. As police search for him, they find his truck ten days later, parked less than a mile from a million-dollar home.

The truck is locked and has gas in the tank. Nothing appears out of place inside, but none of Johnson’s belongings are found. Investigators begin processing the truck for evidence. Neighbors report last seeing the truck in his driveway the day he disappeared.

During the investigation, police discover that Johnson and Gledhill were in the midst of a contentious divorce after ten years of marriage. Gledhill initiated the split in July, with proceedings set to be finalized by the end of October.

She claims she is afraid of Johnson and says he had been violent toward her in the past. Cottonwood Heights police had visited the family’s home several times for domestic disputes.

A temporary restraining order was issued, but Gledhill needed to prove abuse for a permanent one. She provided video and text messages as evidence in her fight for the permanent order. One video showed Johnson calmly cleaning up broken glass from a family photo.

Court Commissioner Russell Minas denied the permanent order, ruling there was no evidence of abuse. He described the relationship as highly dysfunctional, with both parties equally confrontational, and noted that Gledhill did not seem afraid of Johnson. The commissioner suggested the restraining order request was a litigation tactic in the ongoing divorce.

Five days after Johnson was reported missing, Cottonwood Heights police received a call from one of Gledhill’s friends.

The friend claimed that Gledhill had called them before reporting Johnson missing, offering a very different story. According to the friend, Gledhill said she killed her husband and disposed of his body
