Craig Beck: The Stop Drinking Expert

Meet The Stop Drinking Expert: Craig Beck

Craig Beck, ABNLP, ABHYP, DhP, is a leading alcohol-addiction therapist, coach, and bestselling author whose work has helped more than 250,000 people create lives they no longer need to escape.

    Why Craig’s Method Works

Craig spent twenty years caught in the same drinking loop you may know all too well, rationalising “just one,” waking up regretful, repeating the cycle. Traditional routes felt wrong: twelve-step meetings didn’t resonate, rehab was impractical, and quick-fix gimmicks failed.

Eventually, he had a ‘penny drop’ moment where he realized that alcohol isn’t a reward at all but just attractively packaged poison. First, he fixed his own problem and has spent the last fifteen years helping others with a clear, science-backed framework that anyone can follow.

No labels, no judgment, no willpower battles.

Peer pressure and social pressure to drink alcohol Nov 02, 2018
    Show notes

I got an email this week from someone worried about quitting drinking and then having to battle against the peer pressure and social pressure to have a drink.

This leaped out at me because at last week's Quit Drinking Bootcamp in New York this very issue was a huge obstacle for one lady at the event.

She was a corporate lawyer and socializing with clients and alcohol seemed to her to be unbreakably linked.

So let's talk about peer pressure

Quitting Drinking And Finding Peace Oct 23, 2018
    Show notes

I firmly believe that if you want to quit, and more importantly ‘stay quit’ then you have to adopt a binary mindset about this.

Quitting drinking is easy; just don’t put alcohol in your mouth… there you’ve done it.

Staying quit is about the choices you make on an ongoing basis.

It’s easier to make good decisions when you have good data to base them upon.

For example: If your child asked if they could go on a school trip abroad, you wouldn’t just say yes without first asking some important questions and doing a little research.

Perhaps after speaking to the school and some other parents, if you were comfortable that it was safe and sensible you may decide to allow your child the trip.

Quitting drinking is an important decision in your life.

So, make sure you have a head full of good and correct information to allow you to make wise choices.

When you get the temptation to have ‘just one glass of wine’. If you know for 100% certainty that the drug is going to disable your ability to make rational decisions and deliberately try and force you to drink more then it is easy to make a choice that will serve you in a positive way.

I use the multi gym every day because I understand that only I can make the choices required to ensure I am fit, healthy and happy.

Deciding to finally quit drinking is the same; actually, it is the ultimate act of self-respect.

Take ownership of this challenge, become obsessive about learning the truth about this drug and use the weight of this knowledge to help you make empowering decisions.

How To Help Someone With A Drinking Problem Oct 17, 2018
    Show notes

Help Someone With A Drinking Problem… It’s Not Easy!

If you are worried that a family member or close friend may have a problem with drinking, your instant response is most likely that you want to help them to quit drinking ASAP.

However, doing this is not as easy as it first appears, and it’s a course on which you need to take care how you tread. It’s very much something you’ll need to contemplate long and hard before jumping in and attempting to address.

Do they accept they have a problem? It may seem obvious to you and the rest of the world but the drinker may still be deep in denial.

Do you really want to open that can of worms?

Getting somebody to accept the reality and quit drinking alcohol is difficult because problem drinkers become psychologically connected to the drug.

Those who misuse alcohol drink due to the fact that they have become reliant on the drug to help them deal with life. One of the most important things you can do to assist somebody who is drinking excessively is to have a clear conversation with them.

Why is it so difficult to quit drinking? Oct 08, 2018
    Show notes

Why is it so difficult to quit drinking?

If there was ever a loaded question, that's it right there!

The generally agreed narrative about quitting drinking is that it has to be painful, difficult and full of relapse and struggle. This is probably why whenever I post on social media about stopping drinking in one day at one of my Bootcamp's I get a lot of hate.

People love to point out that quitting drinking can't be done in one day and there is no easy way out of the problem. They love to claim that what I am offering is a scam or that I am a snake oil salesman. They make these claims and accusations without ever even looking at what I do. It's their default response to everything.

They insist that it is difficult to quit drinking and that's that!

It's hard for me not to be offended by these comments because I have seen thousands of people achieve happy, sober lives by following my advice and coaching. However, I understand where the negativity comes from. Most problem drinkers have a lot of evidence to back up their beliefs that quitting is difficult.

Is Alcoholism A Disease And The Best Way To Deal With It Sep 21, 2018
    Show notes

https://www.stopdrinkingexpert.com/is-alcoholism-a-disease/ Is Alcoholism A Disease? There’s a great deal of public disarray regarding alcohol addiction and precisely how it impacts people who are dealing with it. Is alcoholism a disease? Many individuals suggest that it is a life-style preference and that quitting drinking is just an issue of choosing to do so. Nevertheless, people who know alcohol addiction better, including the scientists and alcohol addiction experts who manage it daily, understand that there is a lot more to it than that.
