Craig Beck: The Stop Drinking Expert

Meet The Stop Drinking Expert: Craig Beck

Craig Beck, ABNLP, ABHYP, DhP, is a leading alcohol-addiction therapist, coach, and bestselling author whose work has helped more than 250,000 people create lives they no longer need to escape.

    Why Craig’s Method Works

Craig spent twenty years caught in the same drinking loop you may know all too well, rationalising “just one,” waking up regretful, repeating the cycle. Traditional routes felt wrong: twelve-step meetings didn’t resonate, rehab was impractical, and quick-fix gimmicks failed.

Eventually, he had a ‘penny drop’ moment where he realized that alcohol isn’t a reward at all but just attractively packaged poison. First, he fixed his own problem and has spent the last fifteen years helping others with a clear, science-backed framework that anyone can follow.

No labels, no judgment, no willpower battles.

Who's to blame for the alcohol epidemic? Jun 10, 2019

Who's to blame for the alcohol epidemic?

Last year I was asked to be interviewed by BBC Radio WM in the West Midlands of the United Kingdom. They asked me to talk about the shocking discoveries broadcaster Adrian Chiles had uncovered when he was forced to put his own drinking under the spotlight.

A year later and Adrian is back and he's not happy. He's claiming that the alcohol producers are not playing fair.

Tonight BBC Panorama will run a special on how the alcohol industry is not helping when it comes to the growing problem drinking epidemic in the UK.

This is no shock to me!

I have long said that the alcohol companies are acting as badly as the Big Tobacco companies of the '70s and '80s.

Adrian says, throughout creating a docudrama called Drinkers Like Me last year, I discovered just how much I was boozing, and what damage I 'd done myself. I wasn't anywhere near as healthy as I thought I was, my liver was struggling for sure. More than that, I discovered that my drinking could also be responsible for my high blood pressure and other health concerns.

If I am being honest I would say I really wanted to find somebody else to blame for this mess I had found myself in.

However, it does appear that the booze makers actually aren't being as honest and transparent as they really need to be. I still appreciate a beer or two and, even though I have reduced the number of drinks I have per week, I most likely still dust off a lot more than the advised safe maximum amount of alcohol use.

I am not here to preach

Folks everywhere must have the opportunity to partake of what they like, but they ought to do this with full facts made available to them. The drinks industry appears hell-bent on holding this important information back from us.

Think about a bar, with its never-ending row of frosted beer and lager taps. On a few, you will see clear labeling of the amount of alcohol in the drink. But why doesn't it advise you the number of units of alcohol there are in a serving?

Even MacDonalds has to show it's calorie information these days, so why doesn't alcohol have to do the same?

It goes without saying, if you pay for a pack of chips to go with the beer, it needs to have complete dietary details plainly and clearly noted on it.

It seems there is effectively a dispensation for beer, wine, and spirits.

The alcohol industry is getting away with murder

If it's got booze in it, then there's no requirement to have the health details on there. For that reason, while there need to be transparent facts on sodas and candy, surely something as damaging to the nation's health as alcohol must have the same requirements placed upon it?

    That just feels plain wrong!

A few years ago the UK chief clinical specialists calculated and published the latest UK drinking standards at a brand-new reduced amount, for both males and females. Several years later, on the substantial bulk of alcoholic goods we checked out for my TV show, many manufacturers still aren't choosing to make this at all clear.

    Nobody really understands units anyway

Little wonder that less than one in five of us understand how much is too much, as it's on barely any labels whatsoever. In many cases, the outdated guidance, just under 30 units for males and 20 for females, is all you'll get.

When it comes to the UK safe alcohol consumption advice, for what it's worth, in contrast to many in

Hypnosis To Stop Drinking – Does It Work? May 15, 2019

Hypnosis To Stop Drinking – Does It Work?

You may have seen people online pushing hypnosis to stop drinking and are wondering if there is any evidence to support such grand claims.

I have been a master hypnotherapist for twenty years and in today’s blog post and video, I hope to shed some light on the subject.

Hypnotherapy appears to be recommended for practically everything: From stopping cigarette smoking, quitting drinking to weight management.

    Here’s a brief explanation:

The best analysis proposes that hypnotherapy is an effective resource for self-improvement. And there’s a relatively straightforward reason.

Hypnosis works by enabling individuals to transform and improve unconscious beliefs. Via hypnotherapy, we can reframe and upgrade outdated ideas, that stopping smoking, for example, will be hard and uncomfortable, and substitute them with brand-new, more useful presumptions.

How does Hypnotherapy work to Help Stop Drinking?

Here’s an easy way to understand hypnosis: Hypnotherapy sessions create an exceptionally relaxed frame of mind, through which we circumvent the ever judging ego. Simply put, the consciousness is relaxed and prepared to be taught; the mind becomes a lot more predisposed to positive suggestion.

In profoundly relaxed hypnotherapy sessions, we can bypass these robotic thoughts and feelings, and improve this thinking with fresh, more positive recommendations. Hypnotherapy works by enabling us to modify our subconscious thought processes to help us accomplish certain objectives, like quitting drinking.

    Here’s an illustration:

Suppose you wish to use hypnotherapy for weight reduction.

Your unconscious mind has numerous ideas regarding dieting. You may immediately think: Dieting is hopeless, that you do not want to give up your favorite meals, or that you do not have time for physical exercise.

These subconscious thoughts and feelings, which are formed by memories, practical experiences, and assumptions, inevitably steer our informed responses, and we do not even notice this is occurring.

Simply put, our unconscious mind sets us up to fail. Think about that for a moment, if you firmly believe that quitting drinking is difficult – can you see that your subconscious is going to try and prove that belief is correct.

And that holds true around a lot of our unhealthy habits, harmful self-talk, cigarette smoking, overeating, they’re all heavily embedded in subconscious thought.

    Hypnotherapy For Alcoholism

    The Power Of Hypnosis

Through hypnosis, though, we can start to change and improve these unfavorable presumptions. And that may clarify why the analysis firmly proposes hypnotherapy wo

How Long Does Alcohol Withdrawal Last? May 05, 2019
    Show notes

How Long Does Alcohol Withdrawal Last?

Alcohol withdrawal can sometimes be equally as harmful as alcohol addiction – but it’s important to know that does not apply for all or even most drinkers.

For full blown alcoholics withdrawal can in some cases be deadly for many, and the immediate risks frequently surpass the advantages of aiming for sobriety.

It may appear odd to propose that hard drinkers avoid stopping to reduce their threat of withdrawal, but, clinical experts do suggest alcoholics need a hospital stay.

However, the vast majority of functioning problem drinkers are not ‘alcoholics’ and by that, I mean that they are not physically dependant on the drug.

You are most probably not an alcoholic!

Most people who find this website are not alcoholics at all but simply in a loop with their drinking and they can’t seem to break it. Most members of the Stop Drinking Expert website are entirely functioning in other areas of their life. They are in a relationship, probably parents or grandparents and holding down a job.

They are not being constantly issued DUI tickets or thrown in the drunk tank. However, the alcohol industry keeps telling these sorts of drinkers that it is dangerous for them to quit drinking, it may even be fatal.

The reason Big Alcohol keeps doing this is that it stresses out the problem drinkers – and what do drinkers do when they feel stressed?

Have I changed My Mind On The Sinclair Method And Naltrexone? Mar 17, 2019
    Show notes

The Sinclair Method And Naltrexone… have I REALLY changed my mind?

I have always been a very vocal critic of the whole taking a drug to fix a drug problem. Recently some people have been asking me if I have changed my mind somewhat. The answer is yes and no!

I tried taking medication to fix my problem drinking and it didn’t work. I tried Antabuse and it nearly killed me, I tried The Sinclair Method and I found the side effects horrendous.

As with everything else I write about, my view on this is based purely on my own experience. I can’t recommend taking drugs to fix your drinking problem because that approach didn’t work for me.

It didn’t work for me, but…

However, because I refuse to endorse solutions like the Sinclair Method I get a lot of abuse and hate from fans of the medication. They are often as aggressive as the people who insist that AA is the only acceptable solution. They proudly declare Naltrexone to be the new savior of the alcoholic – just because it worked for them.

The “Sinclair Method” is not a fresh idea and the majority of the analysis pertaining to it was carried out in the 1980s. It is named for the scientist who initially created it and helped it obtain notability initially in Europe. The basis of it is quite straightforward, which explains its allure.

    What is The Sinclair Method?

Basically, the technique entails taking a medicine, Naltrexone, to be precise, just before consuming alcohol, each and every time you drink alcohol.

Naltrexone is an opioid opposer and is most prominently used to obstruct the activity of man-made opioids like heroin, morphine, oxycodone, etc. within the system so that if an individual consumes both compounds the opioid is rendered nonfunctional as far as analgesia and exhilaration.

Essentially, and in theory, a man or woman who consumes alcohol while on the medicine will not experience the same chemically-fulfilling experience an individual who consumes alcohol without it will. Simply put, take Naltrexone before you consume alcohol and you will not get the same pleasure you once did from drinking, Drinking without the pleasure.

Alcohol Offers A Helping Hand... Or So It Seems:

Life is tough sometimes and alcohol can seem like a way to duck out of dealing with difficult challenges or situations. However, using alcohol to deal with problems or negative emotions is a bit like using a loan shark to deal with your debt problem.

Yes, it kinda works... in the short-term. However, it's fairly easy to see that in the long term this 'solution' is only going to create much more misery than you started with.

Alcohol is exactly the same - it makes big promises and initially even feels like it is helping but the truth is, the long you use alcohol to escape reality the bigger your problems become.

Watch my free coaching video today and I will explain how it works and more importantly how you escape the loop quickly and easily.

5 Ways Alcohol Might Be Trashing Your Sex Life Feb 12, 2019
    Show notes

Consume a little bit of alcohol; kiss your bedroom jitters adieu: Anybody who’s changed into Lothario after a couple of drinks knows that.

But beyond that newly found sexual self-confidence, is alcohol consumption good for your sex life?

It's not good news I am afraid... especially for guys!

Alcohol is a sedative, and using it on a regular basis will dampen emotional wellbeing, reduce libido, and render it (cough) challenging for a man to get erections or make it to a sexual climax while intoxicated. As a matter of fact, overdoing it on alcohol is a regular source of impotence.
