Alex Murdaugh: Could New DNA Evidence Change the Case? GiGi McKelvey Reports from Court Jun 30, 2026
    Show notes

Josh Ritter is joined by GiGi McKelvey of Pretty Lies & Alibis to break down today's first hearing in Alex Murdaugh's new murder trial proceedings.
Murdaugh was back in court for the first time since being granted a new trial, as his attorneys argued for additional DNA testing, a change of venue, and other key pretrial issues. GiGi was inside the courtroom and joins Josh to discuss what happened, the legal significance of today's arguments, and what stood out from inside the hearing.
Josh and GiGi break down the biggest developments from today's hearing, including the defense's push for DNA testing, the battle over where the retrial should be held, and what today's rulings could mean as the case moves toward trial.
Plus, Josh will break down today's federal hearing involving Luigi Mangione. A judge addressed scheduling and jury selection ahead of Mangione's federal trial, while the defense continues navigating parallel state and federal prosecutions. Josh explains what happened in court today, what it means for the road ahead, and the legal issues likely to shape both cases.

Nancy Guthrie: Did TMZ Just Get a Real Break in the Case? Jun 27, 2026
    Show notes

Criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor Joshua Ritter is joined by Fox News Digital investigative reporter Michael Ruiz to break down the latest twist in the Nancy Guthrie case after TMZ reported receiving a new anonymous note claiming there may be video connected to Guthrie and one of her alleged kidnappers.
Michael has been closely covering the Nancy Guthrie case, and he joins Josh to discuss the latest reporting, what is known about the new claim, what remains unverified, and how investigators may evaluate ransom-style communications like this. Josh and Michael analyze whether this could be a credible break in the case, what red flags to look for, and what it could mean for the search for answers.
Then, in the Leftovers segment, Josh covers major updates in three more headline-making cases:
Tyler Robinson / Charlie Kirk Case — Judge Graf rules on whether prosecutors violated a pretrial publicity order and whether the death penalty remains on the table.
Jonathan Rinderknecht / Palisades Fire Trial — A mistrial is declared after jurors deadlock in the federal arson trial connected to the Palisades Fire.
Alex Murdaugh — Murdaugh’s defense files new motions ahead of Monday’s hearing, including claims involving unknown male DNA.

Nancy Guthrie: Was the Second Note a Confession, Cover-Up, or Clue? Ex-FBI Agent Explains Jun 25, 2026
    Show notes

Josh Ritter is joined by James Gagliano, retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent and Fox News contributor, to break down the latest development in the Nancy Guthrie case: new reports say the second note sent to the media stated that Nancy had died.
    0:00 - Intro
    2:52 - Welcome James Gagliano!
    3:07 - Nancy Guthrie
    51:23 - Goodbye James
    52:40 - Poll Options & Thank You's
    56:30 - Elena Moore
    1:04:40 - Announcements
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, vanished earlier this year in Arizona. Now, new reporting reveals more about a second message sent to the media — a note that reportedly did not include a new demand for money, but instead raised major questions about the sender’s motive, mindset, and what investigators may be able to learn from the timing and language of the message.
Tonight, Josh and James discuss the biggest questions surrounding this development: why would someone send a second note at all, what could the wording reveal about the sender, how investigators evaluate whether a note is credible, and what this could mean for the direction of the investigation.
Plus, vote in tonight’s Viewers’ Choice poll to decide which case Josh covers next:
Elena Moore: Body Found After Gym Visit — South Carolina woman Elena Moore was found dead after leaving the gym, with authorities saying there were no apparent signs of traumatic injury.
Mackenzie Shirilla: Appeal Rejected — The Ohio Supreme Court has rejected a late appeal in Mackenzie Shirilla’s murder case.
Barry Morphew: Newly Released Arrest Records — Court documents reveal Barry Morphew was allegedly using a fake name and living with a woman in Arizona before his 2025 re-arrest.

Luigi Mangione Defense Reversal: Why Did They Backtrack? Plus, Tyler Robinson, Lindsay Clancy, George Pino & Hero of the Week Jun 20, 2026
    Show notes

Criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor Joshua Ritter breaks down the latest major development in the Luigi Mangione case: his legal team has withdrawn its intent to invoke a psychiatric defense in the state case over the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
    0:00 - Intro
    3:06 - Luigi Mangione

    33:13 - George Pino
43:27 - Hero of the Week - Cobb County Police Department https://www.facebook.com/CobbCountyPoliceDepartment
    50:24 - Announcements
Mangione’s defense had indicated it was prepared to argue that he suffered from an “extreme emotional disturbance,” but just one day later, the defense pulled that strategy back. Josh explains what a psychiatric defense could have meant, why withdrawing it matters, what records the defense may have avoided turning over, and how this could shape the case moving forward.
Then, in tonight’s Leftovers segment, Josh covers major updates in three more headline-making cases:
Tyler Robinson / Charlie Kirk Case — Prosecutors are opposing the defense effort to make Lance Twiggs appear live at Robinson’s preliminary hearing. Twiggs, Robinson’s former roommate and boyfriend, received use immunity for statements about the shooting. Josh breaks down what use immunity means, why the defense wants live testimony, and why prosecutors say the recorded statement and messages are enough.
Lindsay Clancy — Ahead of her July murder trial, Clancy’s defense is fighting what her attorney called “voodoo forensics” and “junk science.” Josh explains the battle over expert demonstrations, the 911 call, a jury view of the home, and how courts decide what jurors should see and hear in a case this emotionally charged.
George Pino — As closing arguments approach in the deadly Florida boating case, Pino declined a lesser-included offense instruction. Josh explains why a defendant might reject a lesser option, how jury instructions can shape deliberations, and what the prosecution and defense are fighting over before the case goes to the jury.

Can the FBI Trust Rex Heuermann? Prosecutor Who Took on Serial Killers Explains Sentencing Jun 16, 2026
    Show notes

Josh Ritter is joined by Matt Murphy, former Orange County, California homicide prosecutor and author of The Book of Murder, to break down what to expect ahead of Long Island Serial Killer Rex Heuermann's sentencing, set for Wednesday, June 17.
During his 17-year tenure as a homicide prosecutor, Matt Murphy specialized in high-profile serial killer cases, cold cases, and complex “no-body” murders. Tonight, Josh and Matt discuss what to expect at the Rex Heuermann sentencing, and what justice can still require when a defendant is already expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.
As part of Heuermann’s plea, he agreed to cooperate with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit as part of an academic and scientific exercise. But can the FBI trust Rex Heuermann? Josh and Matt break down whether investigators can learn from Heuermann, how prosecutors guard against manipulation, and whether this gives him one more chance to control the story in the LISK case.
Plus, viewers will vote in tonight’s Viewers' Choice poll to decide which case Josh covers next:
Larry Millete Trial — Trial is underway for the California father accused of murdering his missing wife, Maya Millete, in a no-body case that prosecutors say centers on the collapse of their marriage.
George Pino Trial — The Florida boating crash trial continues for George Pino, accused in the crash that killed 17-year-old Luciana “Lucy” Fernandez.
Palisades Fire Trial — Jonathan Rinderknecht is on trial in federal court after prosecutors accused him of intentionally starting the fire that later became the deadly Palisades Fire, while the defense argues fireworks may have caused the initial blaze.
