Ep. 121: Lew Rockwell on Right Populism and the Case for Paleo-Libertarianism Today Sep 07, 2020

My guest this week is the founder and Chairman of the Mises Institute, Lew Rockwell. In 1990, Lew wrote a historic manifesto called, "The Case for Paleo- Libertarianism". This was a case to denounce the culturally leftist instincts of mainstream libertarianism and make the case that liberty thrives much better in a culturally conservative setting. Within the pages of the famed "Rothbard-Rockwell Report", the case was made to cut ties with the Libertarian Party and to back presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan. The political climate of the day was one that saw a mainstream conservative candidate who was an anti-interventionist and not afraid to call out the dangers of politically correct culture. Seeing that as an option and the libertine/leftist/atheist leanings of the Libertarian Party gave Murray Rothbard and Lew Rockwell cause to align with the Buchanan campaign and denounce the LP. Fast forward to today's political climate. Do you see any parallels between then and now? Is it time to walk away from the Libertarian Party in order to support right-wing populism? I ask Lew Rockwell this and a lot more. Lew pulls no punches, and I know you will enjoy this.

My guest this week is the great Dr. Ron Paul. This is a great honor for me, as Dr. Paul has been an inspiration to me for a long time. His willingness to always stand on principle, no matter how unpopular it may be, has been unwavering, and his commitment to liberty and peace is unmatched by any congressman in the history of this country. He is here to discuss the harmful and disastrous lockdown policies implemented by many countries, states, and cities. As he did during the media blitz and myriad of lies regarding WMDs in Iraq in 2002 and 2003, Dr. Paul has been in the fray speaking truth amidst the COVID-19 propaganda campaign from Day One. Will the lockdown warriors be held accountable for the damage they've caused? Only time will tell. All we can continue to do is speak truth against lies and stand on principle, just as Ron Paul has done his whole life.

There is no shortage of dishonest reporting on COVID-19 these days, and we are here to help you understand what is really going on. Statistician extraordinaire Joshua Ketter is back with us to break down not only the COVID facts for Texas but for the country as a whole. How does Texas compare to NY? The NY Times wrote that the situation in Texas was "New York all over again". Why would they lie like that? What numbers are truly important? Is it the death rate? The case rate? Why are death rates so often reported incorrectly? Should children go back to school now? We cover all of these things, and more importantly, we put the information in the correct context and explain what actually matters.
