Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Why does Paul often begin his letters with long introductions?

    2. Why did God create a world where he knew Adam and Eve would sin and that people would suffer?

    3. If I have doubts does that mean God has taken his Holy Spirit from me?

    4. Jesus said to sell all his possessions and give them to the poor. Was Jesus only saying this to test him? Did Jesus really mean to teach that God wants people to give up their possessions to help the poor?

    5. What is glorification, and how does that relate to salvation?

    6. When I first became a Christian the gospel and church seemed really exciting but now after years of going to church, I feel like I have fallen into a rut because church no longer excites me the way it used to. Can you help me to understand the stage I'm going through and find a way to overcome it?

    Show notes

Episode 277 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I'm confused about the unpardonable sin. How does it fit with Jesus saying that whoever comes to me, I will not cast out? It seems like the gospel is offered to everyone without exception but if you commit the unpardonable sin, where does that leave you?

    2. Should we think of Jesus' ministry of miracles and healings as just proving that he was God? Or does Jesus' ministry have a greater meaning somehow connected to his death?

    3. My question is dealing with 1 Peter 1:17. It makes me not want to pray. Can you give me some help and guidance?

    4. I'm confused about the end times. Does 2 Peter 3:10 teach that heaven will be burned up and destroyed?

    Show notes

Episode 276 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. My church asked me if I want to give my testimony. I want to but I'm a bit nervous and don't really want to talk too much about my past partly because somethings are embarrassing and I'm not sure all of it is important or helpful for people to know. What do you think is most important in giving a testimony?

    2. I'm new to Christianity and I'm trying to do everything I can to ensure that my soul is saved. Do you have to tithe to go to heaven? Or is this something you do because you want to do it?

    3. I feel like I haven't grown much in my Christian life in several years. What can I do to change my situation and finally deal with sins that I have dealt with for years?

    4. Why do so many Christian talk a lot about hell and judgment? Isn't Christianity supposed to be about love?

Should Christians Believe in Dinosaurs and Cavemen? Sep 20, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 275 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How can Christians, that believe in the creation story, explain dinosaurs and cavemen when we have evidence to prove they existed?

    2. I grew up in a Christian home, accepted Christ, got baptized, and attend church regularly. I used to get up at 5 am and spend time with God and our relationship was awesome, but our house burned down. Graciously, individuals opened their home for me to stay then I became like the prodigal daughter and stopped attending church. In the process, I met my boyfriend and we started living together but I sleep in a different bedroom. Are we common law married? What am I supposed to do?

    3. When Jesus told the thief on the cross in Luke 23 that today he would be with him in paradise, how does this fit with how you emphasize that to be a Christian we need to go to a church?

    4. How does the resurrection fit with heaven? It seems like the Bible makes the resurrection physical, but heaven is about the soul. After the resurrection, do we go to heaven?

Why Do the Wicked Prosper? Sep 19, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 274 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Is there such thing as coincidence, chance or luck? Or is God in control of even the smallest things in our life?

    2. I've been listening to your program for a while and I had a question about some of the imagery the Bible has about believers. Verses like Romans 8:15 call us adopted sons of God while in chapter 1 of the same book and other places we are bondservants/slaves of God being bought from slavery to sin. How do these two seemingly contradictory images reconcile each other in our lives as believers and followers of God?"

    3. In regard to Hebrews 6, impossible to renew to repentance. Can you help me understand what that means? Do we take it at face value? I am trying to figure this out for about a year now. I feel like this portion of Scripture really describes me and my eternal destiny is at stake and I can't get the answer to this. And it seems from experience that sometimes we see people leave the faith and then come back. Who is this describing and how can you know if you are in this state?

    4. Why do so many Christians suffer while lots of people who don't know the Lord or don't care are successful and experience blessing?

How Do We Approach Politics in a way that Grounds Ourselves in the Faith? Sep 18, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 273 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I wanted to follow up on a question on politics and religion. I know that there can be different interpretations of the Bible for example immigration in the United States. How do we take an approach to that in a way that makes sure that we ground ourselves in our religion but at the same time at what point do we bring the two together? I know people who separate the two while others who bring both together. I wanted to get your perspective on that.

    2. What do you guys think about apostolic succession? How do you understand Mat 16:18? "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

    3. What does it mean when they say that we are justified by faith? I think I understand what it means to have faith but I'm wondering what it means to be justified.

    4. What is the sin that leads to death? Are there degrees of sin that do not lead to death?‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Should Churches Build Relationships with People of Other Faiths? Sep 17, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 272 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. My question is about Exodus 17:8-13. Is the imagery here foreshadowing Golgotha and the crucifixion? I would love to hear your thoughts.

    2. I'm really struggling in my prayer life. When I pray it feels like God isn't there or isn't listening. Can you please tell me what the Bible says about this?

    3. If Jesus conquered sin and death, why does God still allow suffering and death to happen? Why do faithful Christians still suffer and die?

    4. How do you understand Jesus where he said that he was the way the truth and the life? Based on that, do you think it's good or proper for churches to build relationships with people of other faiths, like pastors getting to know the local rabbi or Imam?

    5. Psalm 103 says, "The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed." How do you understand this passage?

Will We Recognize Our Loved Ones In Heaven? Sep 16, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 271 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Will we recognize our loved ones in heaven?

    2. What does blasphemy of the Holy Spirit mean or entail? I hear discussions about how all can be saved. What about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? What can a person do?

    3. My son was killed. A woman was driving 100 mph, ran a stop sign and t-boned us, taking my son's life. She was impaired. My question is, and I blame my self, I never had my son baptized. Now, at the funeral service, the priest did the baptismal ritual along with the burial ritual. If there is any information you can pass on to me to help me, my wife, and the rest of my family feel better or just to look in one of the passages of some sort, it would be greatly appreciated?

    4. Can we prove that God exists; or that the Bible is true?

    5. Did God know Adam and Eve would sin and if so, why did God create them to do so in the first place?

Does God Love Some People More Than Others? Sep 13, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 270 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Does God love some people more than others?

    2. What are good reasons for Christian married couples to put off having kids? When does concern about things like finances, time, and energy in regards to having children cross the line from being wise to being unbiblical and not trusting the Lord's provision or sovereignty over the womb? What if one spouse has a strong desire to have children and the other doesn't?

    3. I'm curious how you guys have worked through doubt in the past. I can read a lot on apologetics and spend time in prayer and Bible study, but it just seems like there are times where doubt starts to creep in and I can't seem to stop it. I get to these unexplainable moments when it seems like the evidence for Christianity seems too thin to stake one's entire life on it, especially since this is supposed to be evidence from an Almighty God pointing us in the direction of eternal life with him or eternal damnation away from his presence. There are times I fear I only remain a Christian because of the social pressures against de-converting and not out of a heartfelt faith.

Is God Punishing Me for Not Being a Devoted Enough Christian? Sep 12, 2019
    Show notes

Episode 269 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I'm trying to do family devotions with my kids before bed time. Our oldest is 4 and our youngest is 2 and a half. Right now, all I can do is read a short passage, a few verses, and then say a short prayer. Should I be trying to do more? Do you have any advice?

    2. I believe in God and I believe in Jesus. I don't feel saved. I know I trust God and Jesus but I'm not able to meet them on their terms. Can you help me?

    3. A friend of mine recently asked me this question over coffee: "How do we explain why God commanded the slaughter of people in the Old Testament?" She is Christian and loves the Lord, but she is really struggling to understand this and I don't know what to say to her. I appreciate any help you can give me.

    4. How do you tap into the Holy Spirit's power? I truly feel a lot of defeat. I know that I'm forgiven but I feel back into sexual sin. Maybe I never renewed the mind. I want to get backed to where I used to be. I'm about to get a divorce. Is it that I don't devote myself enough, is that why I'm suffering?
