    Show notes

Episode 428 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. What was Moses intending to communicate to us in the account of Balaam and the talking donkey?

    2. I'm a military veteran. I was baptized. I was anointed before leaving for my first tour in Iraq. I believe in Jesus but I'm trying to find that feeling that I know everything is going to be okay and that I'm in the right place. But I'm having trouble finding it. I'm just looking for some advice on how I can turn and get closer to God. Any advice will be helpful.

    3. I have two friends. They're my co-workers. And they are not believers, but they are getting married next year in March. They have asked me if I am willing to marry them as a notary, although it would be in their ceremony, their wedding ceremony. So my question to you is, is it biblical for me to do so? I am a Christian myself, so I would just like to know if it's a sin against God, I guess is what I'm trying to say if I am marrying two unbelievers as a notary.

    4. At the end of Genesis, Jacob says a blessing over each of his sons before he dies. How was the original audience of the book of Genesis meant to understand and apply these words of blessing said over the patriarchs of their tribes, and what, as Christians, are we meant to walk away with?

Am I Overthinking My Faith? Apr 21, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 427 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I have been really struggling in my Christian walk. Friends have told me that it's because I have focused too much on head knowledge and not enough on the heart. I thought I would ask you guys what you thought about head knowledge getting in the way of the heart and what I should be doing to improve my walk with God.

    2. Acts 16:31 it says You shall be saved and your house. How does this translate to those in your family who aren't believers?

    3. I'm struggling to make sense of Luke 12:35–40. Is this about the wedding supper of the Lamb?

    4. What is a good commentary or resource to use to help understand scripture? I find that when I read my Bible, I get a bit confused but I'm not sure where to go to get true, biblical clarifications.

    5. I love the show and listen most days on my morning walk. Something I have heard you guys say in passing a couple of times is that when we are struggling with our sin, we need to fix our eyes on Christ. Can you explain this a little more?

How Do I know I am Going to Heaven when I Die? Apr 20, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 426 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Thank you for being so pastoral in your answers. Regarding the coronavirus, what are some ways that your churches have used technology to encourage one another as local gatherings are shut down? I know of video meetings, but are there any other creative ways your flock is caring for another using technology? Blessings.

    2. A buddy of mine is struggling with his faith, doubt, and agnosticism, but he also has Christian tattoos . How should I talk to him? He knows what the Bible says, but he grew up in a family that taught him the science behind why life exists.

    3. Do you believe that all Christians are filled with the Spirit or do we need to seek the filling of the Spirit after we become believers?

    4. How do we pray? The Bible talks about being close with Christ. Jesus says, "come to me those who are weary or come to me and I'll open the door" but nowhere in the Bible does anyone pray to Jesus or talk about praying to Jesus. We are to pray in his name. How do we have a relationship with Christ if we are not praying to him?

    5. How do we know we are going to heaven when we die? How do I know my mom made it to heaven when she died?

If I was the Only Person on Earth, Would Christ Still Have Died for Me? Apr 17, 2020

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. If I don't produce enough fruit or love people enough does that mean I won't be saved? I really do want to love others though. I know the mark of a true Christian is love but I don't feel like I have enough of it.

    2. Jesus spoke about if you don't do]the law better than the Pharisees you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Did this pass away with the Old Covenant? Or do we still need to work to understand the law so that we can be saved?

    3. How do I develop a love for reading my Bible?

    4. Does God hear the prayers of non-believers?

    5. Would Jesus have died for me if I was the only person on earth?

Is Alcoholism a Generational Curse? Apr 16, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 424 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. What do you do with Jesus' call to take up our cross? It seems to me that Jesus is saying that a person should be willing to die for their faith. How would you encourage someone like me that still struggles with the same sins? I don't feel like I can honestly say that I would be willing to take up my cross because I can't even deal with the same sins I keep going back to.

    2. Jesus taught that we should forgive a brother 70 times 7. But in the parable of the sower he also taught that people could fall away, and Hebrews 6 says that a person who has fallen away can't come back because that would be the same as crucifying Christ twice. I need some clarification of this because I am one of those backsliders that failed the temptation and if I can't repent and come back to the Lord, I'm in a heck of a mess.

    3. I have a friend who believes in soul sleep I have tried to take him to certain passages like Philippians 1 and 2 Corinthians 4 and 5 but he keep telling me that these are talking about the resurrection and not the time between death and resurrection. I was wondering what your thoughts are on that.

    4. How should I rightly understand the Sermon on The Mount?

    5. I hear you talk about generational curses and how those don't exist anymore I was just curious if there is a distinction for propensity for certain sins over a curse? For example, can a person have propensity for alcoholism that is maybe handed down even though it's not a curse?

    1. According to 1 Corinthians 14 speaking in tongues is still in the church and I wanted to know your perspective of it.

    2. Could you please explain Isaiah 2:4? It seems that Isaiah 2:1-3 is about the last days which, according to Hebrews 1:2, we are in. If that's true, what is Isaiah 2:4 about? And does it have anything to do with Joel 3:10? Thank you!

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. What do you think of the idea that the sons of God in Genesis 6 are angels in light of Hebrews? Isn't it more coherent to think of them as descendants of Seth?

    2. You guys recently answered a question of mine so I don't know if I'm hogging the airtime, but here's my question: This COVID-19 virus started with the Chinese eating bats in Wuhan, China. How does that fit I with what the Lord Jesus told Peter in Acts 10:9–16, that all animals are clean to eat? Thanks! Love you both brothers!"

    3. I'm from the UK and listen regularly to your podcast on Spotify. Thank you for your insight and help to understand the Scriptures. In this time of fear and anxiety as the coronavirus continues to ravage so many countries, what can Christians take from Psalm 91, will we be spared from this 'plague'? I am a frontline worker in the health service. Thank you for your thoughts.

    4. I was talking to one of my good brothers and we were talking about the Hebrews 6:4–6 passage. And I wanted to get your take on it. Are we able to lose our salvation?

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. If I repent for a sin and do it again later, does that mean I have never really repented? I have asked the Lord for forgiveness, but I still fall into the same sin over and over again. What am I doing wrong?

    2. How literally should we take the verse that says we should love nothing in this world?

    3. My husband is a sex addict and I have been married to him for 29 years and I have been struggling with praying for him and being a good wife? What should I do? What does the Bible say about a wife being married to a sex addict?

Do We Enter the Presence of God at Death, or at the Resurrection? Apr 10, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 420 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. The dead in Christ will raise but the thief in the cross was in paradise? Which is it? When we die are we in the presence of God or do we wait for the resurrection?

    2. You guys talk a lot about grace but what about works. The Bible also teaches that "faith without works is dead" and the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God. Maybe I'm confused but when you talk about grace it sounds like you are leaving out our part.

    3. I have heard people talk about salvation as having a past, present, and future aspects so that we could say that a person has been saved in the past, is being saved in the moment, and will be saved in the future. I feel like I don't really have a grasp on what this means. Can you explain it?

    4. What would Jesus think of the Multisite church model? In our area it seems like there is a growing number of churches that are expanding and planting new churches and in doing so they maintain one teaching pastor and meet at multi-sites that meet across the city. I wonder if there are any downsides to this. What are the perks to that and what are some of the downsides to that could come with that kind of model?
