Conscious Music Consumption with Dana Falconberry May 31, 2018
    Show notes

Today I get the opportunity to sit down with an absolutely incredible singer-songwriter by the name of Dana Falconberry! We talk about the music industry, how local scenes have changed, and how we can listen to music more consciously.

Dana Falconberry & Medicine Bow's new album, From the Forest Came the Fire, guides us past the forest's edge, beneath the surface of the water, and up the base of the mountain, leaving listeners awestruck at the meeting of natural landscapes and the supernatural forces that lay within them.

Change the Choreography, Don't End the Dance with Abi Robins May 24, 2018
    Show notes

Today, I sit down with a very special guest, myself! This is the first of hopefully many "teaching/sharing" episodes of Conscious Construction. In this episode I talk about how the patterns we fall into with those around us are more like subtle dances that we do, and what to do when the dances are no longer serving us. Let me know what you think about this format for the show and if you want more or less of it! Also, I talk about why I launched my Patreon page and how you can help me keep Conscious Construction growing and improving!

Things I talk about in this episode:

My Church! I love The Church of Conscious Harmony and if you're interested in the place that changed my life and provided healing for my relationship with Christianity, check it out! www.consciousharmony.org

PACE AND KYELI! These ladies are total badasses and I love their podcast The Dervish and The Mermaid! Go listen!

Today I sit down with Scout Chavers to talk about her experience growing up as a black woman in the South, her work in the yoga and birth worlds, as well as what spiritual communities are missing.

Scout has matriarchal healing in her blood and comes from a family of strong cultured mothers who advocate and help other women. As a 29 year old with no children, Scout has decided to dedicate her time and ultimately her life to supporting women in all stages of their personal journeys including but not limited to: puberty, discovering sexuality, conceiving a child, pregnancy and postpartum. Embracing her personal practices of spirituality, ritual and tradition, Scout enjoys cultivating and connecting communities of women and people of color through teaching yoga, self care modalities, childbirth preparation and intimacy classes. She enjoys helping women get in touch with their divine identities and step in to their feminine power. You can find Scout in Austin, Texas teaching Hatha Flow, Vinyasa, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga as well as various childbirth education and self care/exploration gatherings. The communities she is affiliated with include but are not limited to: Austin Born, Yoga Yoga, Austin Area Birthing Center, SHADES of Movement yoga collective & LoveWildAwake. The Mother's Bill Of Rights with Graeme Seabrook May 10, 2018
    Show notes

Happy Mother's Day! Being a mom is hard work, and few people know that better than Graeme Seabrook. Graeme is a life coach just for moms and on this week's episode we talk about how mothers can care for themselves and reclaim their personhood.

Graeme is a Motherhood Life Coach, whose approach to coaching is based on the belief that you must be a priority in your own life in order to thrive. Following a traumatizing birth experience and postpartum depression, anxiety, and PTSD Graeme began a healing journey as a mother and a woman.

That healing journey led her to creating The Mom Center, a social network and group coaching community for those who mother. The Mom Center is a space where mothers can come to be witnessed, nurtured, inspired and supported so that they can integrate motherhood with personhood, and not the other way around. She does this work because she believes we are living in a global culture that treats mothers as if we are inhuman, and expects us to be superhuman.

Graeme's work is dedicated to helping mothers reclaim their humanity.

From the Front Porch to the Living Room with Kevin Garcia (Enneagram 8) May 03, 2018
    Show notes

How on earth do you share your life on the internet and still have a life "irl?" Kevin Garcia knows, and in today's episode we sit down to talk about the difference between authenticity and intimacy, living in the public eye, and being an Enneagram 8.
    Kevin Garcia is...
a speaker, creative, musician, content creator and worship artist based in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2013 with a BM in Music Education and has been everything from a barista to a corporate office worker to a non-profit professional since then. After coming out in the fall of 2015 as a gay Christian, Kevin has reached thousands of individuals across the globe with his blog, theKevinGarcia.com, his podcast, "A Tiny Revolution," on his YouTube channel where he unpacks theology and addresses life as a queer person of faith, and through speaking engagements at churches, universities, and festivals. Kevin also works with The Reformation Project, an LGBTQ direction action organization with a mission to make the global church more inclusive for queer people. He is presently a candidate for a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. He believes that by telling our stories, we set others free to tell theirs. In addition to LGBTQ advocacy, Kevin's passions include vocal jazz, tacos, and really horrible dad jokes.

Romance and Reality with Sandy and James Hughes Apr 26, 2018
    Show notes

A couple nights ago I had the extreme pleasure of sitting down with two of my most favorite people, Sandy and James Hughes, owners of my favorite coffee spot in all of Austin, Stouthaus Coffee Pub. In this episode we talk about building community, starting a family business, and the balance between romance and reality when working with the one you love.

James and Sandy have owned and operated Stouthaus Coffee for the last five years, with their brick and mortar coffee pub having it's 4th(!) birthday this September. They love their community, amazing coffee, and exceptional beer. They built Stouthaus to be a place where you can go and get to know people and be a part of something bigger. Check them out here:

What is the More? Faith, Relationships, and Yoga with Amanda Green Mar 29, 2018
    Show notes

In today's episode I sit down with my personal yoga therapy mentor and primary teacher, Amanda Green.

Amanda candidly discusses her journey with faith and challenges she faced in her marriage. She also shares how engaging with her yoga practice and undergoing the process of yoga therapy helped her to see both her faith journey and her relationship with her husband with fresh eyes.

Amanda took her first yoga class in 2001 and has been practicing ever since. After moving from Seattle to Austin in 2010, she enrolled in a hatha yoga teacher-training program and soon after completion, she began teaching yoga full-time.

Amanda met her teacher and mentor, Chase Bossart in 2011 and her yoga practice took a turn toward a more gentle and therapeutic approach and her yoga study expanded to embrace the broader teachings of yoga. Yogic philosophy and texts, practices including āsana (postures), prāṇāyāma (breathing techniques), meditation, vedic chanting and the practical application of the tools of yoga for therapy are all a part of Amanda's ongoing practice and study.

Amanda has over 15 years of personal yoga practice, 2,000+ teaching hours and more than 1,200 hours of yoga training. She is a graduate of the YATNA yoga therapy training program, and a certified IAYT yoga therapist.

Amanda lives in Austin, TX with her two daughters, husband, and extended family. She paints, dances, reads, writes and gardens. Amanda offers yoga therapy, small group instruction, workshops and mentoring for yoga teachers and yoga therapists in the Austin area and online.
