    Common Sense Ohio

We’re taking a common sense approach to the news events in Ohio. And why Ohio?
Well, because it’s right from the middle. It’s the heart of it all. It’s the place where you can test almost all Americanized theories. It’s a jumping-off point to having greater discussions about politics and news. And what’s going on not only in the state of Ohio, but the country –and maybe even the rest of the world.

Your Common Sense hosts are: Stephen Palmer is the Managing Partner for the law firm, Palmer Legal Defense. Norm Murdock is an automobile racing driver and owner of a high-performance and restoration car parts company. Brett Johnson is an award-winning podcast consultant and small business owner for nearly 10 years, leaving a long career in radio.

The hosts mention the importance of addressing underlying issues that contribute to disparities in test scores.

Concerns about the fairness of affirmative action and potential discrimination based on race are expressed.

The importance of treating individuals as individuals and protecting individual rights is emphasized.

IRS Going Rogue Jun 23, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode, Steve and Norm begin by highlighting an incident involving an IRS agent who falsely represented their purpose when visiting a woman's house in Ohio. They express concern over the need to protect constitutional rights and question the arming of IRS agents. They also mention an incident where an armed IRS team entered a gun shop in Montana, raising doubts about the necessity of such actions.

The conversation then shifts to the topic of gun control and the perceived unequal treatment of gun violations under the Biden administration. They discuss a case involving Hunter Biden, who received preferential treatment despite serious offenses, contrasting it with the harsh penalties faced by others in similar situations. They argue for stricter enforcement of existing gun control laws rather than implementing more regulations.

Steve and Norm also delve into the ongoing controversy surrounding Hunter Biden's legal situation, expressing frustration with the unequal treatment in the criminal justice system. They question why Hunter Biden is only being prosecuted for tax fraud and not for corruption charges, despite evidence of unreported income. They highlight the dissatisfaction of an IRS whistleblower with the Department of Justice's slow response and emphasize the importance of full cooperation demanded from individuals in similar situations.

This episode also touches on the topic of public defenders and the disparities in legal representation based on financial resources. They discuss the emotional reactions and ethical considerations surrounding the death penalty in extreme cases and the need for a fair and just system.

Norm's Nuggets include the risks and implications of various activities such as submarine trips, bar shootings, road rage incidents, and historic discoveries.

Robert Cooperman from Stage Right Theatrics May 19, 2023
    Show notes

The episode also offers a refreshing approach to discussing conservative representation in the arts.

Rather than advocating for a particular message or agenda, Robert Cooperman, our guest, and owner of Stage Right Theatrics, promotes the Natural Theater. This presents the founding philosophy of the country through art.

“We have protagonists on stage who are not defined by their victim status...there is going to be hope and redemption, which I think is very important and meaning."— Robert Cooperman

This philosophy encompasses human nature, natural rights, and God, and the protagonists on stage are not defined by their victim status. By creating plays that focus on human nature rather than oppression, the Natural Theater provides a unique perspective that sets it apart from other conservative representations in the arts.

The podcast's emphasis on hope and redemption also offers a refreshing take on the genre, rejecting the idea that we are adrift in a meaningless universe.

"Let's have the civil conversation. I'm not budging from my point of view, but I'm going to unlike the left, I'm going to allow another point of view and let the marketplace of ideas decide which is the one that's going to win out."— Robert Cooperman

We also talk about the challenges and opportunities of promoting conservative voices in an industry that is often dominated by liberal viewpoints.

"Our goal is to produce theater from a conservative, traditional point of view because I think we are bombarded every day with messages through the arts as well as other avenues of this woke, left wing ideology." - Robert Koopman.

A big shout out to Andrew Klavan, who was instrumental in the early stages of Stage Right Theatrics with his play, The Uncanny.
