Rocco III - Secret "Boros" Attackers - 382 Jan 30, 2023

Show notes

I couldn't resist doing another Rocco deck. He's the ultimate in versatility. This time, it's mostly a Boros Attacking Legendaries deck. They've started pushing Boros Legendaries, recently. Not enough to make me want a whole Boros deck, but Rocco will do nicely!

Show notes

Jan Jansen is a value Mardu Commander. He ramps, he makes an army, and he's got haste, so there's no waiting! Sean goes over the basics, a solid core, and then a few options to branch out to suit your style. Proliferate? Lifegain? Stax? All of the above??

Farid. Commander or 99? - 377 Dec 19, 2022

Show notes

Farid makes “useless” scrap tokens. Of course we’re going to see how we can get a ton of value from them! Here’s a look at Farid and cards that would go in their deck, as well as some other Commanders that would appreciate Farid’s extra scrap!

Tawnos Spellslinger - 376 Dec 12, 2022

Show notes

Tawnos seems like an artifact Commander at first, but there’s a powerful spellslinger brew in here too. Returning spells by copying creatures, untapping Tawnos, proliferating the charge counters on huge artifacts. This deck is a hoot!

Mishra - Unearth Pingers - 375 Dec 05, 2022

Show notes

Mishra Unearth doesn’t do this Commander justice. There’s a lot of neat synergies to dig up surrounding this ability. And there’s a hidden pinger deck that goes perfectly with Mishra.

The Archimandrite - Persistent Petitioner Beatdown - 374 Nov 28, 2022

Show notes

The Archimandrite has a ton going on. Multiple creature types, draw engines, attack support. I go over a few of those concepts, but my favourite is certainly Persistent Petitioner Beatdown.

Ashnod the Uncaring - 373 Nov 21, 2022

Show notes

****** I’m switching podcast hosting sites soon! Unfortunately, it’s not possible to give you a seamless transition. I’ll keep putting episodes up here until sometime in January. To keep listening, you’ll need to subscribe to the new feed here:

https://commanders-brew.captivate.fm/listen

Ashnod’s copy ability will lead to some very neat moves. It can be a bit tricky to narrow down the search. I’ll also cover some Scryfall search tech to help you out!

Scryfall search:

Id:grixis (t:artifact OR t:creature) o:/sacrifice.*:/

Just add o:mill or o:draw at the end to get specific effects.

Ghen Tokens, Zirda Companion - 371 Nov 07, 2022

Show notes

Ghen Enchantments is already a pretty unique Mardu brew. But what if Zirda was the companion? Are there enough really cool enchantments with activated abilities that get awesome when they’re two cheaper? Spoiler - yes, if you’re making tokens.

Here's a TCGPlayer link to the deck:

(link coming soon!)

If you're looking for cards from the new set, one of our decks, or anything, really, please use this link. It helps a lot!
