    E205: The Ammons Family Haunting/ The Demon House Oct 19, 2023

    The Ammons family, including mother Latoya Ammons, her three children (two boys aged 7 and 9 and a girl, age 12– their names have never been released), and Latoya’s mother (Rosa Campbell) moved into a rental home located at 3860 Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana in November 2011. It seemed ideal for the family…but it wasn’t long after the Ammons moved in that bizarre things began happening. You see, this week’s case is one of a woman and her family who have publicly proclaimed that their home (if not themselves as well) was possessed by a demonic entity– or, in this case, upwards of 200 demons. Was this a true case of possession or was it all a hoax?

    The Murder of Jessica Briggs and Conviction of Anthony Sanborn Part 2 Oct 13, 2023

    On May 24th, 1989, the body of 16-year-old Jessica Briggs was pulled from the waters of Casco Bay in Portland, Maine. For some time afterward there were no names suspects; that is, until law enforcement honed in on Briggs’ ex-boyfriend— Anthony Sanborn, also 16. Despite the fact that no forensic evidence from the scene matched Sanborn, there were three witness statements that would seem to provide motive AND put him at the scene. Based upon those statements, although Sanborn continued to state his innocence, he was convicted. Decades later, with the Innocence Project involved, a new investigation was launched and Sanborn was granted a post-conviction hearing. What private investigator Kevin Cady uncovered would turn everything on its head. Join me as I go through the case piece-by-piece with Bob Motta, host of Defense Diaries and co-host of The Docket.

    On October 22, 1966 many in Tallahassee had made plans to watch the Florida State Football game. Three of the five members of the Sims family, however, had stayed at home: dad Robert (42), mom Helen (34), and daughter Joy (12). When oldest daughter Norma (17) came home at 11pm, she found the television on but none of her family was crowded around it as she would normally find them. Going next to her parents’ bedroom, it was there that she saw a horrifying scene. She found her parents and her baby sister had been bound, gagged, and left for dead. What law enforcement has NEVER found was the killer or killers.
