Although Sheriff Richard Tarbell (played by Frank Luz) is dating Lillian, the owner of the local eatery, his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Johnson returns to the island after a four-year absence and their romance blooms again. Elizabeth (played by Lisa Langlois) happens to be the daughter of the town’s mayor, Elias Johnson (played by Robert Lansing), who is in cahoots with an evil corporation called INTEC that has been secretly breeding mutant roaches that are immune to normal insect repellants. CinePsyEP241: Erotic Nights Of The Living Dead
Once again, any and all excuses will be accepted and made to discuss Laura Gemser on this show in any form. Erotic Nights Of The Living Dead does not feature Ms Gemser in a main character capacity, but she remains the unhealthy fixation of both socially and emotionally distant co hosts of the show.

CinePsyEP239: Christina 1984
Cort develops a quick obsession with Jewel Shepard and Matt decides he just doesn’t see why. The dim witted duo then discuss Christina, an erotic B movie from 1984 that was made specifically for the Playboy Channel. Every film of this nature the show has covered yet seems to have elements that neither of the boys can find enjoyable, and the objectionable elements in this film border on way too rape culture to say many “thank you movie”s all that much.

CinePsyEP238: In The Cold Of The Night
Should we be panicked and run to the hills from the pandemic? Should we talk about a film that is quite possibly the template of “Erotic Thriller” films for the bulk of the 90’s? In The Cold Of The Night makes an early appearance in 1990 and sets a mark as one of the earliest of the decade. Is it a good film? Was any of the 90’s direct to video “Erotic Thriller” films ever any good? Time to talk about this film and some of the offspring that came later.

CinePsyEP237: Linda and Abilene And Passion Plantation
The boys do another old school double feature cast where they discuss the third and final film in the lost pornographic films of Herschell Gordon Lewis. Linda and Abilene is a tale of the old west and incest which has the hosts debating (Lets call it that) the morality of the film. Passion Plantation is the basic Nazisploitation film plot with the wicked warden sadist being primarily the daughter of a plantation owner taking over her father’s mantle. Cort dubs it “Ilsa, She Wolf of the Southern Plantation” and things fall apart from there.

CinePsyEP236: Black Love and The Ecstasies Of Women
The boys do an old school double feature cast where they discuss two of the lost pornographic films of Herschell Gordon Lewis. Black Love is a hardcore feature masquerading as a cultural study of the black community that is racist AF and The Ecstasies Of Women is a soft core feature that attempts to channel a groovy 60’s vibe. The films spark much discussion and occasional outrage from both hosts as they navigate the land mines found within.

The ballyhoo, fervor, and frenzy behind some of the most outrageous elements of exploitation filmmaking is explored in That’s Sexploitation! A fascinating documentary that covers the decades span of sleazy movies that fought against censorship and produced content to titillate regardless of the legal ramifications. That’s Sexploitation! brings it all out into the light of day on this week’s show.

CinePsyEP233: Antropophagus
Cort Starts the show by declaring he is quitting and this is the last show for Cinema Psyops. Matt attempts to console and find out what is wrong with him, but has no luck. The pair work through 1980’s Antropophagus as Cort’s anger and irritation slowly subside while Matt’s discomfort and nausea increase. Will the show be saved so that Cort can get his sadistic groove back? Is Matt really that close to throwing up? The only way to know is to listen to the show!

CinePsyEP232: Luther The Geek
When a film’s reputation has it built up to be at a mythical level, the search for and obtainment of that film becomes more than a check on a list of other movies. A rare find is often lauded for its scarcity over its own merit, but what happens when that rare find is also a notorious and sometimes devious artifact? The myth grows even more. Luther The Geek represents that exact unicorn of a rare find to those that sought it out in the days of VHS tape trading, heard of its own brand of weird nastiness, and simply had to have it for the bragging rights.

Gothic horror and salacious femme fatal worlds collide in the story of Lady Frankenstein. Obsessed with her fathers work and on the verge of perfecting its processes, the titular character manipulates her way through treachery and slimy men trying to bed her using only her feminine wiles and her own treacherous nature. The plot twists more than the knives stabbed in each characters back, but who will survive, and whom will they be rebuilt out of?

CinePsyEP230: Giallo In Venice
Giallo In Venice was a much sought after film for Cort upon seeing only a brief shot that lit his imagination on fire as to what would happen next. After losing the grey market supplier who had the film available and not even knowing the name of the film or what that brief glimpse even represented, it surfaced years later when Scorpion Releasing put the film out. Matt finds much more to like and enjoy in the film than just the one scene stuck in Cort’s mind as the Dim Witted Duo dig into some really unpleasant subject matter hung around a very interesting inverse murder mystery.

CinePsyEP229: Malibu High

CinePsyEP229: Malibu High
Back to pure exploitation this week in PSYOPS land. Malibu High was a revelation and a breath of fresh air after the previous week’s disappointment. Marketed as a straight up teen sex romp, the film has a darker edge that really gave the boys something to sink their cinematic teeth into and discuss.
CinePsyEP228: Mountaintop Motel Massacre
Dec 30, 2019
CinePsyEP228: Mountaintop Motel Massacre
A long forgotten entry in the slasher genre from the earliest days of its inception, Mountaintop Motel Massacre has more interesting behind the scenes stories than thrilling kills or plot. Matt literally phones it in once again, this time because he wanted to watch some stupid sports ball event the same week of xmas on the only night the boys could record. There is behind the scenes chat about the show its self layered within the review with talk of behind the scenes of the film Mountaintop Motel Massacre. This podcast is now like Inception in that it is convoluted, self important tripe.
CinePsyEP227: Holiday In Cannibal Holocaust
Dec 23, 2019
CinePsyEP227: Holiday In Cannibal Holocaust
Cannibal Holocaust, The big daddy of all exploitive trash cinema is on the docket for the Holiday review. Some may call this the most wonderful time of the year, however some perspective on the worst man kind has to offer may help to enhance the holiday cheer, or ruin it. Just face it, Cort is miserable and wants everyone else in Whoville to be as loathsome and vile as he is.
A film with one trick and a nasty selling point of a maggot sexual assaulting a woman to death, Galaxy of Terror is somehow just now making its way onto this show. The effects and production design are a precursor to what James Cameron would later do with his film Aliens. A star studded cast with suits and opticals purchased from a Battlestar Galactica liquidation sale after its cancellation are more subtle delights to enjoy in this lack luster mock buster.
CinePsyEP225: Battle Royale Full Franchise Fest
Dec 09, 2019
CinePsyEP225: Battle Royale Full Franchise Fest
Upon every 25th episode a Full Franchise Fest must be celebrated in the PSYOPS Labs. The boys decide the best way to handle the 9th installment of this on going series is to cover a franchise with only two movies in it. (Hey, it’s still the FULL Franchise) That brings us to the cultural phenomenon that is Battle Royale. Plagued with controversy and held from official release in America for over a decade, Battle Royale spawned an ocean of emulations. imitations, and out right theft of intellectual property to cement its place in cinematic excellence.
Things become a little dour in the studio as Cort and Matt get a little help from Brandon to discuss The Poughkeepsie Tapes. The discussion is sparked from an experiment to see if a hackneyed theory Cort had about seeing the film in its poor quality bootleg form being more effective than the modern BluRay HD transfer and all of its high resolution. The group goes into discussions of serial killers, mind hunters, profilers, and sexual sadism to really pick the bones of a film that everyone and their side podcast has already covered.
After a phenomenal episode on The Devil’s Nightmare, Cort chooses the schlocky Forbidden World to talk about to destroy all momentum and guarantee an episode of sheer tom foolery and stupid juvenile antics. Mission accomplished as the show completely derails with in seconds of the start.
The studio has a guest visitor drop in to discuss her favorite horror film Devil’s Nightmare and verbally accost Matt at opportune moments. Cort leads the charge and repeatedly distracts everyone creating shit loads of outtakes and clips.
We have feed back from both NaschyCast hosts, an overdue gift delivery from Paul of Who Will Survive that Cort misplaced for a year, and plenty of talk about baby stabbing.
CinePsyEP221: Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 3
Nov 10, 2019
CinePsyEP221: Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 3
Matt is back and finally able to hear enough to participate in this epic episode that discusses the end of the Ash Vs Evil Dead series. There is an update on what made Matt sick and how his illness was made worse by medical treatments, news, and a very cranky Cort due to Carb withdrawal.
CinePsyEP219: Curse of the Crimson Altar
Oct 27, 2019
The fourth week of spoopy movies brings us the second and final pairing of Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee in Curse of the Crimson Altar. Cort confesses to a life long obsession with Barbra Steele as Matt tries to hold his illness at bay to do the notes. The scavenged iMac has a massive power board failure and causes the boys to record with out the benefit of any live playback for the music, promos or clips. They soldier on and do the best they can with what they have as the film Curse of the Crimson Altar was so unbelievably good that neither wanted to miss the chance to do it.
The third week of spoopy movies brings us the would be sleaze fest Demented from 1980. Demented is a veritable cornucopia of examples of the wrong thing to do in the face of a horrific sexual assault on a loved one. The film bums out both hosts who attempt to find something worth discussing amongst all of the film’s victim blaming and patriarchal pandering to rape culture.
CinePsyEP217: The House That Screamed
Oct 14, 2019
CinePsyEP217: The House That Screamed
The second week of spoopy movies brings us The House That Screamed and stuns both hosts in its story telling and ability to weave numerous plot threads into an engaging and emotional story that sparks many side tangents. Cort confesses to his disappointment in not getting the kind of sleazy flick he was expecting and proceeds to side track Matt with his perverted expectations as they where not met.
The Spoopy is back for the Halloween season at PSYOPS labs as Cort picks various titles in a horror theme. First up is The Devil’s Rain aka Dallas and Kirk battle McHale’s Satanists with a little help from Orville Wendell. A star studded cast and some truly amazing effects round out a solid devil cult comes to the desert to seek reincarnated revenge against the descendants of wayward followers.
The final film in the Listener Supported picks from Robert brings a boxing tournament within the walls of a federal penitentiary and all the other horrible things that happen in the titular Penitentiary as well. The film sparks many debates between the cohosts as well as a discussion on the possible messages and social commentary layered into the plot llnes of the film itself.
CinePsyEP214 The Last House On Dead End Street
Sep 22, 2019
CinePsyEP214 The Last House On Dead End Street
The story behind the scenes of the film may be far more interesting and disturbing than the film itself these days, however in its 1977 debut, four years after its troubled production, The Last House On Dead End Street became its own urban legend and shocked the entirety of 42nd Street. A film filled to the brim with anger and vitriol spewing as much contempt and rage as possible in 78 mins of screen time, The Last House On Dead End Street is certainly the kind of film one would easily mistake for being real in the hey day of sleaze. Cort and Matt discuss all of this and more and create several clips that will be just horrifying out of context.
CinePsyEP213 The Secret Life: Jeffrey Dahmer
Sep 15, 2019
CinePsyEP213 The Secret Life: Jeffrey Dahmer
In another poor taste move, Cort decides to cover a controversial film made rapidly on the heels of the trial and conviction of Jeffery Dahmer. The film piggy backed off of a media circus and the shocking crimes of the most notorious necrophilic cannibal killer in modern America. The reason for covering this movie on episode 213 is probably the most tongue in cheek and may cause eye rolling injuries when revealed.
Corruption, is it supernatural? Are the events of the film fractured memories of a dying mind? Are all faustian deals with the devil or can one sell their soul in increments because of poor life decisions? All of these questions are not the average things that should be going through your mind when watching an adult film, but none the less here we are in the third and final adult film suggested by listener and supporter Robert.
CinePsyEP211 Listener Supported: A Woman’s Torment
Sep 01, 2019
CinePsyEP211 Listener Supported: A Woman’s Torment
Mental health of the affluent female is explored here in an adult film from Listener Supported Selection: A Woman’s Torment. The film represents the triumphant return of director Roberta Findlay to the show. and as our discussions of her films Lurkers and Prime Evil sparked Listener Supporter Robert to select the films for this series.
CinePsyEP210 Listener Supported: Memories Within Miss Aggie
Aug 25, 2019
CinePsyEP210 Listener Supported: Memories Within Miss Aggie
The First episode of our Listener Supported selections from our boy Robert is Memories Within Miss Aggie. This film is unarguably pornographic in nature, however the storytelling craft takes both the hosts by shocking surprise as they find deeper meaning in all the things placed deep within Miss Aggie.
The First episode of year 5 has both the boys in ill health and ill tempered. The boys complain like the old ass pieces of shit they are for most of the opening about everything and anything until Matt starts in on bullshit conspiracy theories and angers Cort even more. Eventually the dumb ass duo get their shit together enough to talk about Umberto Lenzi’s Eaten Alive. Its sleazy, its cheaply made, it has tons of uncomfortable nudity and a dollop of Jones town thrown in to a film made less than a full year after that tragedy happened. Its year five and already things are looking bad for us.
CinePsyEP208 Cort’s Favorite: The Ninth Configuration
Aug 11, 2019
CinePsyEP208 Cort’s Favorite: The Ninth Configuration
The final episode in year four brings Cort’s favorite film to discuss for review.
The Ninth Configuration is a film that has deeply affected Cort from the day it randomly entered his life over two decades ago. The film is a chaotic mix of multiple genres that collide into a beautiful fever dream about existential dread and finding a reason to go on within a world you no longer feel welcome. Discussions get deeper and more introspective than was ever possible for the dim witted duo before. Has the show raised the bar to match what Cort loves most about this hidden gem or has the moronic immaturity inherent in the show dragged the discussion into that same juvenile idiocy once again?
CinePsyEP207 Matt’s Favorite: Animal House
Aug 04, 2019
CinePsyEP207 Matt’s Favorite: Animal House
With the Romero Full Franchise Fest closing with two episodes left in year four, Cort has decided that the Boys will each choose their favorite film to discuss for review. Matt’s choice is up first with the comedy classic Animal House. This episode has both of the boys geeking out about not only a comedic corner stone film, but also the creators and the effects the film had on the style of comedy both hosts love.
CinePsyEP206 Full Franchise Fest: Survival Of The Dead

CinePsyEP206 Full Franchise Fest: Survival Of The Dead
The run to the end of the fourth year is upon us with an epic Romero Dead Films Full Franchise Fest! We made it 206 weeks continuously with out missing a single week! We celebrate with covering the single favorite franchise of both hosts one movie a week to close out the show. The show opens with the ending audio drama segment. Then we move on to Survival Of The Dead, which represents the last and strangest twist of the franchise as yet another full divergence of opinion for both hosts as Matt dislikes much of the film and Cort was shocked at what he liked about it. The bots have to intervene as Matt loses his shit and refuses to finish the review. We also have an article on Day Of The Dead read by the author Jamie J. Sammons!

Night Of The Living Dead 1990 represents a second chance for the creators and original film makers to finally get a payday on the film that was mistakenly made pseudo public domain due to a mistake in the last minute retitling.
CinePsyEP203 Full Franchise Fest: Land Of The Dead

CinePsyEP203 Full Franchise Fest: Land Of The Dead
The run to the end of the fourth year is upon us with an epic Romero Dead Films Full Franchise Fest! We made it 203 weeks continuously with out missing a single week! We celebrate with covering the single favorite franchise of both hosts one movie a week to close out the show.
Land Of The Dead is proof positive of a movie studio that refuses to get out of its own way and stop fiddling about with the creative process. A compromised film that is uneven and frustrating to both hosts upon watching all four films in a row.
CinePsyEP202 Full Franchise Fest: Day Of The Dead

CinePsyEP202 Full Franchise Fest: Day Of The Dead
The run to the end of the fourth year is upon us with an epic Romero Dead Films Full Franchise Fest! We made it 202 weeks continuously with out missing a single week! We celebrate with covering the single favorite franchise of both hosts one movie a week to close out the show. Day Of The Dead is Cort’s favorite Romero film. The nihilistic look at how quickly humanity devolves into savagery, brutality, and the satification of baser desires resonates with his world view. Finding a touchstone with Bub, the excess of gore, and the finest feeding frenzy in the series hooked him right off the bat.
CinePsyEP201 Full Franchise Fest: Dawn Of The Dead

The run to the end of the fourth year is upon us with an epic Romero Dead Films Full Franchise Fest! We made it 201 weeks continuously with out missing a single week! We celebrate with covering the single favorite franchise of both hosts one movie a week to close out the show. Dawn Of The Dead is Matt’s favorite Romero film. The discussions on these films is what garnered the respect Cort has for Matt, what little there is of that. The asinine debates on the Dead series has been an on going thing for the Psyops boys, it is only now after four years any one else has to suffer through them.

The run to the end of the fourth year is upon us with an epic Romero Dead Films Full Franchise Fest! We made it 200 weeks continuously with out missing a single week! We celebrate with covering the single favorite franchise of both hosts one movie a week to close out the show. Night Of The Living Dead changed the way people saw horror films and was so shocking upon its release, it was banned in over 37 countries. The film buried scathing social commentary in gore soaked madness that portrays how easily civility and social norms will collapse under the weight of crisis. We have a humbling amount of feedback from our loyal listeners and are ecstatic to celebrate this milestone with all of you!
CinePsyEP199 Movie Stack Jenga: Emmanuelle And The Last Cannibals

CinePsyEP199 Movie Stack Jenga: Emmanuelle And The Last Cannibals
Finally, after enduring the painful run of May Mattei, Cort and Matt settle into the 199th episode to talk about the Joe D’Amato
sleazefest Emmanuelle And The Last Cannibals. We aren’t saying we only enjoyed this because of Laura Gemser, but having her in the movie certainly helped. As of this release the show needs feedback and well wishes for our 200th episode and the following Monday the 10th is the final day, anything received on that date should be able to make it onto our 200th episode as we record Tuesday the 11th.
CinePsyEP198: May MatteI: In The Land Of The Cannibals
Jun 02, 2019
CinePsyEP198: May MatteI: In The Land Of The Cannibals
We’re Not saying In The Land Of The Cannibals is a Predator rip off, but its definitely a Predator rip off. Mattei at his awful best with a movie only slightly more enjoyable than Mondo Cannibal with actual helicopter sequences stolen right out of Predator! There is little joy found in the movie itself but all of the fun ends up becoming an outtake as Cort and Matt are punch drunk from a month of subpar films. This marks two weeks to the Full Franchise Fest for Romero’s Dead Films as well!
CinePsyEP197 May Mattei: Zombies: The Beginning
May 26, 2019
CinePsyEP197 May Mattei: Zombies: The Beginning
Zombies: The Beginning is clearly ripping off an action packed blockbuster sequel and replacing the threat of other worldly killing machines with Resident Evil like zombies. A side-loaded sequel to Island of the Living Dead and the most fun we have had yet on the inaugural May Mattei, Zombies: The Beginning is a bright and shinny turd in a sea of backed up sewage. We know it’s ripping off some sort of extraterrestrial space bug hunt, but We’re not 100% sure which one. We aren’t saying it’s Aliens, but it’s Aliens.
CinePsyEP196 May Mattei: Mondo Cannibal
May 19, 2019
CinePsyEP196 May Mattei: Mondo Cannibal
The anger is real on this episode as Cort goes off on Mattei for the choices made in Mondo Cannibal. Matt is disappointed that this plot-line, stolen completely from Cannibal Holocaust, spoils that film before he ever saw it. Both of the boys are concerned at how much worse it can be to finish out May Mattei. Is all hope lost? Will this destroy the show?
CinePsyEP195 May Mattei: Island of the Living Dead
May 12, 2019
CinePsyEP195 May Mattei: Island of the Living Dead
Cort realizes that an entire month devoted to Bruno Mattei might be the worst idea he has ever had for this show. Matt and Cort lament the latest film for May Mattei, Island of the Living Dead and tease out the upcoming Full Franchise Fest with the promise of much, much better films to come. The dim-witted duo then dig into the frustrating nonsense that is Island of the Living Dead. There is news and out takes to make it all better we swear.
CinePsyEP194 May Mattei: Violence In A Women’s Prision
May 05, 2019
CinePsyEP194 May Mattei: Violence In a Women’s Prison
Cort finally has the scavenged iMac up and running thanks to the help of the unnamed patron saint of Data Transfers. Matt reveals a shocking revelation of his knowledge of Laura Gemser and the smuttier films from his past. Its recorded on the Wednesday before its Sunday release and Cort has no time to edit with so much on his schedule. When it’s time to talk about the Mattei made schlock the conversations strays into out takes quite a bit.
CinePsyEP193 Movie Stack Jenga: Point Of Terror
Apr 28, 2019
CinePsyEP193 Movie Stack Jenga: Point Of Terror
The Cold open shows that Matt is still trying to delay pulling his own weight for the show. Cort’s anger is diffused by Matt still not realizing how podcasts are made. Matt tries to claim he is a massive turn on, which is the most vomitus thing Cort Has ever heard. The show then kicks into a discussion of Cort’s mental issues and how they get amplified when he is away from his wife for extended periods of time. The boys then discuss the Crown international film Point of Terror. This weeks film is compared to the previous week’s installment as they were released as a “Twofor”.
CinePsyEP192 Movie Stack Jenga: Blood Mania
Apr 21, 2019
CinePsyEP192 Movie Stack Jenga: Blood Mania
The Cold open reveals that Matt has a complete “How to get away with watching porn at work” plan all worked out. The Boys then begin discussing The Crown International sleaze fest that is Blood Mania. Things get real weird real fast as the sleazy Blood Mania infects Cort and Matt with its misogynistic tendencies. A new catch phrase is coined, outtakes abound, and we have the return of Horse sex related PSYOP NEWS!
CinePsyEP191 Movie Stack Jenga: Prime Evil
Apr 14, 2019
CinePsyEP191 Movie Stack Jenga: Prime Evil
Cort reveals why he has the worst headache at the time of the recording by sharing a tale of how his intermittent explosive disorder once again got the better of him and caused a series of ridiculous things to occur. The boys then settle in to discuss Prime Evil and why using magic to get laid is wrong. Morality arguments ensue as Cort plays a literal devil’s advocate and Matt is forced to be a warrior for virtue.
CinePsyEP190 Movie Stack Jenga: The Lurkers
Apr 07, 2019
CinePsyEP190 Movie Stack Jenga: The Lurkers
The Show Kicks off with the debate on moobs, boobs, and chests of a flat variety and spirals out of control while the guys tell stories abut their friends that may be hurt that we talk about them without naming their shame. When the actual review kicks in Cort has a growing experience that has him contact his court appointed therapist and ruin the review and Matt’s concentration as it comes through on mic. There is news, tom foolery, jack assery, and sexual innuendo in ludicrous amounts.
CinePsyEP188 Movie Stack Jenga: Hellbent 1988
Mar 24, 2019
CinePsyEP188 Movie Stack Jenga: Hellbent 1988
Matt rides a make shift boat across the new great lake “Nebraska” to join Cort in the lab to record about Hellbent 1988. Hellbent is the second feature from Richard Casey, who left the boys angry and confused with how much they ended up loving his first feature Horror House on Highway 5. The second film has the boys just as flummoxed but for shockingly different reasons. There is news and a second week in a row where Cort has done outtakes!
CinePsyEP187 Movie Stack Jenga: Feed The Light
Mar 17, 2019
CinePsyEP187 Movie Stack Jenga: Feed The Light
Werewolfman Jack opens the show with interruptions from Matt sexually harassing James Stewart and attempting to Gaslight Cort about what went down. Cort reveals he has been purposely rupturing holes in the fabric of reality and space time in order to have a timeless void for a man cave. Matt states that all timeless voids would be turned into She Sheds or be taken away by one’s wife. The boys then move on to discuss the Swedish Film Feed The Light and there is a brief return of outtakes in this episode.

CinePsyEP186 Movie Stack Jenga: Queen of Blood
The perils of ride sharing, “Vegas Baby!”, and the art of padding out an episode with pablum. Queen of Blood picks up where Blood For Irina left off and amplifies the frustrating experimental aspects to the breaking point of both hosts. Spontaneous unconciousness over took both hosts as they viewed the spiritual sequel to the film that broke the show.

CinePsyEP185 Movie Stack Jenga: Blood for Irina
“Why such a short episode?” The listener thinks to themselves after seeing the first runtime of a CInePSY episode of a full movie review below 90mins. “Wait What?” the listener says out loud several times to themselves starting the episode off just after revelations about the experimental and “ Avant Garde” film that is the barely 75 min Blood for Irina. The boys get snarky and downright asshole about this one and strive to find a way to describe the extended scenes of leg shaving and blood vomiting that makes this the shortest review they have ever done. There is news, and for those that survive it, little surprises once it’s all over.

CinePsyEP182 Movie Stack Jenga: The House That Vanished
Cort and Matt are taking an edgier, more nihilistic tone partially influenced by this weeks film, The House That Vanished. The PSYOPS labs checks its many fields upon which their fucks have been grown and found them all to be barren as they attempt to pull it all together and battle this sudden onset of “Edgelorditus” in a half hearted attempt to make a half assed episode that has half the effort to appeal to the edgy crowd who is already over it.
Jim Van Bebber’s unwavering drive to complete The Manson Family was a whispering myth in the underground film scene for the 15 years it took to complete. Van Bebber created a powerful film using that large span of time to his advantage as he fleshes out what would have been a simple narrative with the tale of a faux documentary as it is being created and the contemporary cult that will never stop trying to keep if from seeing the light of day. Flavor aide vs Kool aide and tapioca pudding fueled castration jokes abound as The Manson Family sparks conversations about cults, faith in false gods, and the longing to give over all responsibility for your actions to another abound.
It is revealed that Werewolf-Man Jack has been hiding out in a timeless void built for Jimmy Stewart so that he wont age. In this void Werewolf-Man Jack has been stewing on the current state of the world and has assembled a play list designed to incite and agitate in order to “Burn This Mother F****er Down” as his constant ramblings state. Has Werewolf-Man lost his mind? Does he want the people to revolt and take back what has been stolen from them? is this a publicity stunt on his part to get his name back out there after such a long absence? Why would he risk the safety of a timeless void with such outrageous rhetoric? The only way to know for sure is to take the musical journey through his mad rambling mind.
Cort dips his toe into the first ever solo review for the show with Reform School Girls. While it’s not the greatest WIP flick ever made, it does star the punk rock goddess Wendy O Williams and has a special place in Cort’s heart for more than that reason alone. The show must and does go on as Cort does his best to maintain his ranting and raving while trying to review a movie so varied in tone it has no idea if it is a drama or a comedy.
Matt stays home to record because of reasons Cort refuses to believe as true. The pair discuss the multi titled Richard Johnson vehicle The Night Child Aka the Cursed Medallion aka Together Forever. Night Child is another movie with an arguably inappropriate father and daughter relationship that has Freudian overtones to it. This subtext was completely unknown to either of the Psyops crew but seemed intensionally scheduled when in reality it was another random Jenga pick.
Cort argues it’s an art film while Matt declares it less than porn. Cort delves for deeper meaning while Matt is upset at the lack of scissoring. Jess Franco created what is arguably his most cohesive narrative with Lorna The Exorcist. Equal parts pornographic and artsy with a faustian tale that ends in tragedy and incestuous lesbian sex. Could this be the discussion that will be banned from iTunes? Could this be the episode where the sex talk finally goes too far? Is this actually an art film or is Cort full of shit? Find out as we argue passionately about Lorna The Exorcist.
Cort seems doomed to never enjoy a New Years Eve as he starts the show with a story of hate for a popular form of bar entertainment and a health scare that had him nearly headed to the hospital at approximately 3 in the morning. The dimwitted duo then discuss 1970’s The Vampire Lovers, the start of the Hammer Karnstein Trilogy. This film brings an uncomfortable glimpse of how lesbianism is viewed in a patriarchal society and forces Matt and Cort to acknowledge those revealed truths while trying not to drool too heavily over the other worldly beauty of Ingrid Pitt and Madeline Smith.
Mr and Mrs sit down to discuss the Peter Jackson Director’s Cut of The Frighteners between opening presents and preparing a nice Christmas Dinner. The pair discuss what they love about offbeat humor and horror and why Cort does and or does not need a switchblade style scythe to round out his knife collection.
Unique Individuals will gravitate to the tale of Duane and Belial, brothers who were once inseparable and were torn apart by family demands and expectations. Belial is no innocent victim here as he chews off faces and sexually assaults women that show an interest in his brother before finding his own place in a world of other unique individuals and fathering a ton of babies. A strange and unbelievable 3 film arch has been chosen for our 175th episode Full Franchise Fest! We also have a few emails and some great listener questions!
A Lost gem? A modern classic? A reason to keep Cort awake with no sleep so Matt can select over 16 clips which most were over 10 mins long prior to being cut down for the show? What would make the Stuntman justify that many clips? Peter O’Toole’s dialog delivery? The relationship dynamic that develops between the characters of Steve Railsback and Barbara Hershey? Or is it possibly the pure laziness of Matt who overused the clips as a crutch to not have to do his due diligence and write a decent review? The choice is yours to decide gentle listener as this truly interesting and unique film is discussed in this weeks show!
Cort and Matt struggle with their inability to interpret a film like The Blood Spattered Bride that appears to be speaking about subjects they feel unqualified to analyze and lament their faliure to do so. They place the context of their interpretations on the supplemental materials found in the BluRay release of The Blood Spattered Bride from Mondo Macabro which shows perhaps they are not as ill equipped to understand such intelligent filmmaking. Along the way the Psyops boys take on Incels and the patriarchy while Cort sings the praises of two fellow film lovers he wishes he had even the slightest glimmer of their talent and knowledge. The boys dig deep to try to find every message and symbolic overture they can, but probably should just stick to the dick and fart jokes they are good at.
It is often as true of video box art as it is of books that you cannot judge its content by its cover. With MurderLust being an interesting and low budget character study of a serial killer that was very ahead of its time, this is one time that is true for sure. MurderLust tells the story of a misogynistic, narcissistic, and sexually sadistic serial killer who runs rampant in a small community on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert. The film handles this subject matter in surprisingly adept ways one will not find until crime procedural shows that appear almost a decade later.
Expectations dealt out at the beginning are laid bare by the end of Project Nightmare. The film is a haunting vision of the darkness in one’s own mind given manifestation through an experiment gone horribly wrong. While the production itself is rough, low budget, and deeply flawed, the film has a captivating charm and a thoughtful approach that makes it much more than a basic no budget horror film.
The first Bruno Mattei film covered on the show brings the triumphant return of the vomit meter as well as the nastiest WIP film we have covered so far. The titular jail is not just the hell of women, but also any viewer who does not enjoy the misogynistic degradation and violent sexual abuse of its imprisoned women.
The boys settle in to the review after Cort plays an anti police remix of dialog from the film. Lady Coco is a spitfire woman that demands your attention. Cort is crushing on her from the get go after her first antiestablishment diatribe while Matt discovers his own love of her constantly berating the men around her into submission.
The episode the vampire pedophiles tried to stop using dark money and Russian operatives to poison Cort. Despite this illness Daeron, Matt, and Cort take the fight to the man and recorded possibly the angriest, most rage filled discussion of a comedy movie about our broken political system in 1992’s The Distinguished Gentleman.
Matt uses his one call from a rehab facility to talk to Cort about the Matt Cimber film The Candy Tangerine Man. The episode is lean and to the point with only a few side rants as the boys were short on time and patience for each other. Matt completes his full crossover into the distrust of law enforcement as he tries to sneak sips of a Hot toddy to fight off his “rehab flu”.
The gentlemen from They Must Be Destroyed on Sight! podcast stoop to an all time low to do a crossover with the garbage people of Cinema PSYOPS to discuss the Jess Franco blind dead influenced Mansion Of The Living Dead.
Cort and Matt discuss the film as Cort finds ways to make Matt feel super uncomfortable about the title of the film with out actually saying it. While trying to discuss the flim-flam and slick deceptions involved in said hustles, Cort becomes increasingly dubious of just how and why these all seem to work in stealing money out of the hands of the same community you live in daily and how you could get away with this. Before the film discussion completes, we realize there may be something far more sinister at work here than we initially suspected.
