Judah Trembles as Assyria Rises | Day 175 Jun 24, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 175 | Isaiah 8:1–11:16

In today’s reading, Isaiah continues to deliver messages of both judgment and hope. God warns His people not to think like the world and not to fear what the world fears. While Assyria is rising as God’s tool of discipline, a promise of redemption shines through: a child will be born, a Son will be given. Isaiah prophesies the coming of Jesus—Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace—who will reign with justice and righteousness. Though judgment is certain, God assures His people that a remnant will return. The line of David will not be cut off; a righteous branch is coming, and He will not disappoint.

The Prophecy of Emmanuel: Hope in a Dark Time | Day 174 Jun 23, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 174 | 2 Kings 15:32-38; 2 Chronicles 27:1-9; Micah 1:1-16; 2 Kings 16:1-9; 2 Chronicles 28:1-15; Isaiah 7:1-25

Today’s reading plunges us into the heartbreaking decline of Judah under King Ahaz. Micah and Isaiah both prophesy during this time, warning of judgment as Jerusalem and Samaria are filled with idolatry and rebellion. Ahaz, king of Judah, rejects God's word and even sacrifices his own son in fire. When God offers to protect him—and even invites him to request a miraculous sign—Ahaz refuses, choosing to trust in Assyria instead. Isaiah responds with a deeper promise: a virgin will give birth to a child called Emmanuel. While Ahaz walks away from God, the promise of Christ quietly enters the story, offering hope in the midst of rebellion.

God Shows Amos Visions of Judgment | Day 173 Jun 22, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 173 | Amos 7:1–9:15; 2 Kings 14:28-29; 2 Kings 15:8-29, 6-7; 2 Chronicles 26:22-23; Isaiah 6:1-13

In today’s reading, we watch two prophets step into history—one a humble shepherd, the other a royal insider. Amos sees terrifying visions of judgment but pleads with God to relent—and God listens. Despite rejection by the king, Amos boldly proclaims Israel’s exile, yet ends his message with hope: God will restore David’s fallen house. Then we meet Isaiah, who sees the Lord in all His glory and answers the divine call: “Here I am. Send me.” But God’s message is sobering—Isaiah will speak, but the people will not respond. It’s a powerful reminder that God calls us not to success, but to faithful obedience.

The Lord Promises to Strike Israel for Their Rebellion | Day 172 Jun 21, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 172 | Amos 1:1–6:14

The prophet Amos steps into history not as a priest or royal official, but as a farmer called by God to deliver a devastating message. In these chapters, the Lord begins by naming the sins of the surrounding nations—but quickly turns His judgment toward His own people. Israel had become indistinguishable from the world: oppressing the poor, embracing immorality, and forgetting the God who rescued them. Through Amos, God pleads with them to wake up, return, and live. This is a sobering call to examine our own lives—are we living like we’ve been redeemed, or like we've forgotten who we belong to?

Thrown Overboard, Swallowed by Mercy | Day 171 Jun 20, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 171 | 2 Kings 14:1-14; 2 Chronicles 25:1-24; 2 Kings 13:12-13; 2 Kings 14:15-16, 23-27; 2 Chronicles 25:25-28; 2 Kings 14:17-22; 2 Kings 15:1-5; 2 Chronicles 26:1-21; Jonah 1:1–4:11

The book of Jonah is far more than a story about a giant fish—it’s a piercing look into the heart of a reluctant prophet and the mercy of a God who loves even the most wicked. Jonah runs from God’s call, faces a terrifying storm, and ends up crying out to God from the belly of a fish. When he finally obeys, the people of Nineveh respond with stunning repentance—from king to cattle—and God spares them. But Jonah, still bitter, reveals a heart out of step with God's compassion. This episode is a sobering reminder: God loves all people, even our enemies, and His mercy always outruns our pride.

Finishing Well: The Legacy of Elisha | Day 170 Jun 19, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 170 | 2 Kings 13:1-11; 2 Kings 12:17-21; 2 Chronicles 24:23-27; 2 Kings 13:14-25

Today’s reading unfolds the haunting weight of legacy—both human and divine. Kings of Israel continue to follow the sinful path of Jeroboam, spreading idolatry long after his death. Joash of Judah starts well, repairing the temple under godly mentorship, but ends in ruin after turning from the Lord. In contrast, the prophet Elisha finishes faithfully, his impact so lasting that even his bones bring life. Yet through every failure, God’s covenant remains firm—merciful, gracious, and unwilling to completely forsake His people. This episode challenges us to examine our own legacy and remember: with God, it’s never too late to return.

The Boy King Who Reclaimed the Throne | Day 169 Jun 18, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 169 | 2 Kings 11:1-3; 2 Chronicles 22:10-12; 2 Kings 11:4-12; 2 Chronicles 23:1-11; 2 Kings 11:13-16; 2 Chronicles 23:12-15; 2 Kings 11:17-21; 2 Chronicles 23:16-21; 2 Kings 12:1-16; 2 Chronicles 24:1-22; 2 Kings 10:32-36

Today we trace the dramatic rise and fall of King Joash, a hidden child rescued from a murderous queen, crowned at just seven years old, and guided by the faithful priest Jehoiada. Under Jehoiada’s influence, Judah renews its covenant with the Lord, destroys pagan altars, and begins a spiritual revival. But when the priest dies, Joash listens to new voices, turns to idols, and rejects the very Word that once guided him. God, still merciful, sends prophets to call His people back—but they refuse to listen. It’s a sobering story of influence, drifting hearts, and the unchanging faithfulness of God.

    A Trap for Baal’s Priests | Day 168 Jun 17, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 168 | 2 Chronicles 21:8-20; 2 Kings 8:23-29; 2 Chronicles 22:1-7; 2 Kings 9:1–10:17; 2 Chronicles 22:8-9; 2 Kings 10:18-31

Today’s reading is one of the most dramatic and sobering in the Bible. Jehu is anointed as king with a divine mission to bring judgment on Ahab’s family and all who enabled Jezebel’s evil. He moves with ruthless obedience, fulfilling prophecy down to the last dog’s lick of blood. But even in his zeal, Jehu stops short of full surrender—he obeys when it’s public and powerful but refuses a heart of daily devotion. Through this, we’re reminded that God seeks not just acts of obedience, but hearts fully His.

When the Invisible Army Fights for You | Day 167 Jun 16, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 167 | 2 Kings 5:1–8:15

In today’s episode, we witness the remarkable healing of Naaman, a powerful commander who learns that salvation comes not by status or strength, but by humble obedience. Elisha’s refusal of glory points back to the One who truly saves. We then see God's power revealed again through invisible armies, a floating axe head, and four outcast lepers who discover God’s salvation and choose to share it. From miraculous protection to convicting reminders of our duty to share the gospel, this reading shows how God works through both the powerful and the outcast to proclaim His salvation.

When Shalom Stands in the Face of Loss | Day 166 Jun 15, 2025
    Show notes

    Day 166 | 2 Kings 2:1-25; 2 Kings 4:1-44

Today’s episode marks the passing of Elijah’s mantle to Elisha and the beginning of a remarkable ministry empowered by God. Among the miracles we see, one quiet woman from Shunem stands out—not for her name, but for her unwavering faith, hospitality, and peace in the face of tragedy. When her long-awaited son dies, she responds not with panic but with "shalom"—a deep, soul-level peace rooted in trust in God. This episode reminds us that true peace isn’t circumstantial. It’s the presence of God sustaining us, even in loss, and it’s available to us through Jesus.
