‘Brain Fog On the Tyne’ Chelsea FanCast #1085 Nov 27, 2023

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at a disappointing 4:1 defeat away to Newcastle on Saturday.

We start proceedings with a tribute to former Chelsea player, Terry Venables, who sadly passed away at the age of 80 on Sunday.

Atrocious defending and poor discipline cost us up at St. James' Park on Saturday, with three of the goals avoidable and many of the yellow cards. But is Silva past his sell by date or do we have short memories? Did we miss Moises bite in midfield? How much of an impact did the International Break have on a lacklustre and dozy performance?

In part two, was Poch's criticism of the players justified and how much should he shoulder the blame? Jackson offered nothing again, how much do we need a new striker in January or do we pray that Nkunku is the bollocks? How much of Chelsea's malaise is down to the players, or Poch or Clearlake for not buying a striker and experienced players? How far off it are Chelsea – Europe? Mid-table? How long to put it right and how? And finally, how secure is Poch?

Chelsea FanCast #1084 'Preview Show' Nov 25, 2023

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman to catch up with the Chelsea news and look ahead to Saturday's match against Newcastle.

In part one we discuss Friday's press conference and with the latest brouhaha about FFP infractions we ask is there anything to worry about with possible Premier League investigations in to Chelsea.

In part two we look ahead to the Newcastle match starting with Chidge's team selection. Is there any reason to make any changes from the draw against City? Will Enzo and Moises suffer from travel fatigue? Should we be confident given Newcastle's injuries and Poch's good record against Newcastle and Howe? Can Chelsea match the intensity we saw v City and be as clinical in front of goal? We wrap up with 'They Played For Both' and our predictions,

'Four Four...F*!?ing Hell!' Chelsea FanCast #1080 Nov 13, 2023

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back on a remarkable match against Man City on Sunday.

In part one we discuss Chelsea's electric start almost scuppered by Antony Taylor's poor decision for the penalty and great comeback to lead 2:1 before the sucker punch either side of half-time. But Chelsea stuck at it, going toe to toe with City and goal for goal, before Ice Cold Palmer equalised with minutes remaining. Palmer, Sterling, Cucurella, Gallagher and James were outstanding and Sanchez made some great saves. Poch got his subs spot on, with Broja getting the foul that led to the last minute penalty.

In part two we reflect on a brilliant week for Chelsea, arguably the best it's been since winning the FIFA Club World Cup in February 2022. It seems we've turned a corner and the team has evolved, showing bravery, confidence, resilience and playing front foot attacking football and breaking free of the turgid tippy tappy sideways borefest of recent years. A real bond seems to be growing between players and manager and indeed the crowd who were the loudest we've heard for years and from all four stands. While there will inevitably be some downs to come, a bright future is emerging.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1079 Nov 10, 2023

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dayne Whittle to look ahead to Sunday's match against Man City.

In part one we catch up on the latest Chelsea news and ask where will Nkunku fit in with the news that he maybe available for selection for the Newcastle match?

In part two we welcome back David Walker from ReadButNeverRed.com for the 'Opposition View'. We ask David how happy he is with the season so far? Has De Bruyne’s absence hampered City? Why did City let Cole Palmer go? How’s Kovacic doing? Do City have any weaknesses? And what is David's prediction for the game. Lastly David tries to name the 30 City players who have also played for Chelsea in 'They Played for Both'.

In part three we preview the Chelsea v City match starting with Chidge's team selection. Surely you can’t drop Jackson after a hat-trick or can you? Having lost our last 5 against City, without scoring a goal, how big an ask is getting a result? Is keeping Haarland quiet the key? City have lost 3 of 6 matches against Poch sides away. We wrap up with our predictions and JK and Dayne see if they can name the 30 Chelsea players who have also played for City in 'They Played for Both'.
