Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1094 Dec 29, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at the win against Palace, the defeat to Wolves and ahead to Saturday's match against Luton.

In part one we look back at Wednesday night's win against Palace. We ask is it all about the win? Gusto was superb; Gallagher great; Nkunku class; Mudryk improving; Madueke, Lavia and Gilchrist had good cameos – does this offer a glimmer of hope? And is it time to cut Jackson some slack? We discuss our defensive concerns and whether Chelsea are a talented bunch of individuals but not a team, all while our home form is improving.

In part two we look back at the defeat to Wolves: a case of same shit different day – the better team but hopeless up front. We discuss Sterling’s criminal miss, Nkunku’s debut, the team's poor discipline and Chelsea's dreadful away form.

In part three we look ahead to Saturday's match against Luton. JK reports on Pochettino's press conference and Chidge reveals his team selection. Luton will be a tough nut to crack away and Ross Barkley will have something to prove against his old team. With our poor away form will Chelsea achieve another unwelcome record? We discuss how will it go and give our predictions and wrap up with 'They Played for Both'.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1093 Dec 22, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at the Carabao Cup quarter final against Newcastle and ahead to the Christmas Eve match against Wolves.

In part one we discuss a potentially massive night at the Bridge last Tuesday where Chelsea beat Newcastle on penalties to go through to the Carabao Cup semi-final. In the process we saw a team bond with each other and the supporters as the stadium was literally bouncing with delight. In addition we discuss the great penalties & penalty save! Mudryk, the enigma wrapped around an enigma. Playing full backs works, please try it again! Gallagher – the glue that binds it together? And ask is it early days for Nkunku?

In part two we look ahead to the Wolves match on Sunday. We have JK’s review of the Presser and pick up on the news that the ESL rears its ugly head again and what is the Chelsea Supporters' Trust planning on Sunday with their Christmas Eve football can #GetStuffed message? In Chidge’s team selection we ponder whether Poch will pick proper full backs? Will Nkunku to start? Is Enzo out? Will we play in a 4:2:3:1 formation?

We look at Chelsea and Wolves form and ask if Chelsea go in to this match with momentum and can they go on a winning run? We wrap up discussing how we see the match going and give our predictions before testing JK and Mark's knowledge in 'They Played for Both'

‘Palpable Relief’ Chelsea FanCast #1092 Dec 18, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Worrall to look back at Saturday's victory over Sheffield Utd and ahead to Tuesday night's match against Newcastle Utd.

In part one we discuss the win over Sheffield Utd where the 1st half looked like déjà vu – low block, possession, and no goal threat but Poch’s 2nd half tactical change paid dividends. Palmer, Gallagher & Moises were the stand out performances and Jackson scored his 7th goal of the season but...

And while back to back wins in the league for the first time in over a year brought palpable relief, was the poor atmosphere a sign of the times or to do with something else?

In part two we preview the Carabao Cup quarter final against Newcastle Utd. JK sums up todays presser and Chidge reveals his team selection. Newcastle have lots of injuries, but it didn’t make any difference last time we played them. Can we make home advantage count? Chelsea's Cup record v Newcastle is very good.

How vital for the season is it to get to the semi and beyond? We discuss how we see it going and give our match predictions.

    'FUBAR' Chelsea FanCast #1089 Dec 11, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd reflect on a disappointing defeat away to Everton.

In part one although Chelsea did alright, better than Utd and Newcastle with plenty of possession and attacks and shots on goal they didn’t really look like scoring and looked typically vulnerable in defence. The folly of not having a decent striker is exposed again. Is there a lack of quality in the side? Did Everton, a gnarly experienced, streetwise PL side just want it more? And to add injury to insult, James goes off again in what is becoming a tragedy. What's his future at the club?

In part two, with 10 wins in the last 45 are we concerned by what is relegation form? The mood seems to be changing regarding Chelsea's recruitment team and the owners, so what happens next? Pochettino alludes to going to the transfer market to solve the problems – is this realistic?

Chelsea FanCast #1088 'The Preview Show' Dec 09, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at the defeat away to Man Utd and ahead to Sunday's match against Everton.

In part one we discuss a shambolic defeat away to Utd which raised question marks about whether the players are good enough and casts doubts on Pochettino's ability to get a tune out of them. But is it more a question of sticking it out and hoping that Nkunku is decent; we get the injured players fit and buy a proper striker. Either way, this is going to take a lot of time and more frustration before the inexperienced team starts delivering consistently.

In part two we welcome back Dave Vitty (Comedy Dave) to the 'Opposition View' to discuss Sunday's match from an Everton perspective. What are Dave's thoughts on the PL FFP ruling? Sean Dyche – how’s he doing? With a 10 points deduction this season, is he worried about relegation again? Key players for Everton this season? With Chelsea having lost 9 of their last 14 matches at Goodison Park is he confident of getting a result? And how does he see it going and what is his prediction.

In part three we preview Everton v Chelsea. JK summarises today's presser and Chidge reveals his team selection. Is Goodison Park Chelsea’s bogey ground? With Chelsea so inconsistent this season are we as likely to pull out a decent performance as we are to put in another shocker? JK and Martin attempt to name the 25 players who have played for both Everton and Chelsea and we wrap up with our predictions.

‘Never A Dull Moment’ Chelsea FanCast #1087 Dec 04, 2023
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge is joined by Dan Silver and Mark Meehan to look back at Chelsea's 3:2 win over Brighton.

In Part one we discuss another mad game where Chelsea cruised to a 2:0 lead before easing off and getting punished and Gallagher being sent off. But instead of capitulating, Chelsea defended well in the second half, extended their lead before giving us all a nervy 10 minutes as Brighton got a second goal. Entertaining, yes, but watching Chelsea at the moment can age you!

In part two we discuss an important win where the team showed character, playing for 60 minutes with 10 men. We also discuss where Chelsea are in terms of competing at the moment and is it time to move on from the years of dominance under Roman Abramovich?
