It's freezing outside but Austin, Jared, and Dylan are bringing the fire to keep warm. We start off with the news of the week that Matt Campbell's contract was once again extended. At this point, we must be ready to put to bed fears of him moving on, right? And are we ready to bury the hatchet with Kirk Herbstreit for his famous 2017 tweets? One of us is, the others are not.
The men's basketball team has given some reasons for optimism, as we break down the close losses to West Virginia and Oklahoma. Jared's Chiefs may have lost the Super Bowl, but hopefully you listeners took our advice on props and made some money. The Nets looked unbeatable against the Clippers, and are putting the NBA's COVID protocols in the spotlight again. Jared gives us a history lesson and Austin owns up to a great regret from his time as an Iowa State student. Last but not least, the Bachelor rolls on, and Austin and Dylan break down the latest episode.

Litecast: Basketball Status Check and Big Game Prop-a-Palooza Feb 03, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us a text

After a bye week, the Litecast returns with a big rundown. Iowa State lost to Mississippi State by 39 points and the men’s basketball needs a reckoning. How does this get better? What can Coach Steve Prohm do? Is he the guy to bring us back? With about 5 weeks of games left, we’re waiting for some optimism. But it’s not all bad news. The Big Game (or the Super Bowl if you are reading this and don’t work for the NFL) is this Sunday. Find out who the guys are picking to win, but most importantly, how will they wager on the many, many available prop bets. Key ones to cover include national anthem length, halftime show, and of course, color of the Gatorade shower. From there comes a side conversation about favorite Gatorade flavors and some unexpected nostalgia for All Sport. Last but not least, we’re halfway through the Bachelor season. The bullying in the house is out of control, and it’s time for Matt James to mix it up. Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill as always for sponsoring this podcast!

We also debut our new segment "Try for Three," where Levi presents a topic to Cole and Marchie, and they have to give a top three related to it. This week, the guys rank their top three streaming services.

Marchie airs his grievances about the New Orleans Saints getting knocked out of the playoffs, we discuss some big recruiting news, decide which two fast-food restaurants we would save, then give Marchie a brief history lesson on Chernobyl so he can finally watch the critically-acclaimed mini-series.

Litecast: Bill Fennelly Owns Baylor and Bachelor Recaps Return Jan 20, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us a text

Iowa State news has slowed down a bit, but the women's basketball team now has a 2 game winning streak against Baylor. We break down how the win happened, Ashley Joens' continued excellence, and Kim Mulkey being a predictably sore loser. The Twister Sisters also have a new player, and Jared explains how she is taking advantage of the unique wrinkle of the COVID season. Elsewhere in the news, the NFL playoffs roll on. Allen Lazard and AJ Klein will be playing for a Super Bowl bid this coming weekend. The Nets Minute had to be expanded, as the team we love to talk about pulled off a blockbuster trade. How do we think James Harden will fit in once the Nets have all 3 of their stars active? Lastly, the Bachelor is back, and Austin and Dylan have plenty of superlatives to talk about from the first 3 episodes.
