Litecast: Vegas Memories, UNLV Recap, and Baylor Look Ahead Sep 22, 2021
    Show notes

The Litecast is home from Sin City recapping a weekend in the desert and an absolute domination of UNLV by the Cyclones. Matt, Austin, and Dylan break down the game and try to find meaning for the rest of the season. Maybe we just needed to beat somebody really badly for the confidence boost. Up next is a trip to Waco to play Baylor. We've crunched the numbers and their schedule so far is terrible. But the Bears should not be taken lightly, and we know the players to look out for. The New Big 12 is continuing to win games and the Pac-12 decidedly is not so we are working to brand ourselves as better than the Alliance. Plus, a little conspiracy corner comes out as we ask the question: are we sure the Big 12 won't raid the Pac-12? Lastly, we make picks for the upcoming college football weekend. Shoutout to our sponsor Es Tas Bar & Grill and to all the Cyclones who took over Las Vegas!

Litecast: CyHawk Post-Mortem, Big 12 Expansion, and Remembering Big 12 Legends Sep 15, 2021

The Litecast is back to recap an absolute dud of a CyHawk game. Matt, Dylan, and Austin break down when they knew things were going wrong, how badly the in-game experience was, and eventually segue into some bigger picture things for the rest of the season. Is there a QB controversy right now? Do we have concerns about Iowa State's ability to compete in the Big 12? And just what will it take to get the offense back on track?
Elsewhere, the Big 12 made the additions of Cincinnati, BYU, Houston, and UCF official. Who is the most exciting new additon? Iowa State is sure to create a rivalry with someone. And these new schools give us an opportunity to reminisce on some Big 12 legends (not leaders) like Taysom Hill, Blake Bortles, Case Keenum, Jimmer Fredette, and more. We finish with a visit to the Wide Right moneyline because the poor start to football season isn't limited to just Iowa State on the field. Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring. Stay safe and gamble responsibly if you'll be in Vegas this weekend.

DPNL: 2021 Game Week - Iowa Preview Sep 10, 2021

This week, Levi, Marchie, and JD are back to preview the CyHawk game, and dig into the player perspective of what it means to be playing in a big game like this. What should Iowa State be looking to do to improve on their offensive output from the UNI game against an even better defense? What I can Iowa State's defense do to shut down a somewhat limited Iowa offense?

SPECIAL PODCAST: Josh Pate of The Late Kick from 247Sports Sep 09, 2021

As part of a special podcast this week, we welcomed Josh Pate from 247Sports, and host of The Late Kick. We talked about his show, why he's become such a big Iowa State fan over the years, and why he's so excited to make his first trip to Iowa to watch the CyHawk matchup. This interview was a lot of fun, and we're thankful that Josh was able to come on to gush about our mutual love for Iowa State.

Litecast: College AmesDay 2.0 ft ESPN's Chris Fallica! Sep 08, 2021
    Show notes

It's a loaded brand new episode of the Litecast for rivalry week! Matt, Austin, and Dylan start by breaking down what we saw on the field in Week 1 against UNI. There were a lot of things to improve, but some stuff we liked as well. Eventually we landed in a good place. From there, we did a little bit of breakdown on Iowa's win over Indiana and how we see this weekend's game playing out.
ESPN's Chris Fallica, aka The Bear, aka the Unofficial Mayor of Ames joins the show to talk all things College GameDay. We got a rating on Ames as a host, what it's like having Lee Corso back in person, how the host gets selected each weekend, and the casual fan's guide to why they should watch on Saturday. We also got to the bottom of Bear's affinity for Iowa State which goes surprisingly far back to the 90s. Of course we had to ask about Matt Campbell and how he's perceived, plus if Kirk Herbstreit is cool with our fans again. Lastly, we had to talk some gambling and get Bear's guide to surveying the board on a given weekend, plus a little preview for what he likes on Saturday.
Thanks to our sponsor Es Tas Bar & Grill for making this happen! Go Cyclones!

This week Levi, Cole, and former Cyclone JD Waggoner break down the Iowa State-UNI game this weekend in Iowa State's season opener for the 2021 season. What are the expectations on each side of the ball? Is Breece Hall going to have a big game? Should we see more explosiveness in the passing game? All of that and more in this week's episode of Down the Pipe & Natty Lite.

Litecast: UNI Preview, Alliance Talk, and Week 1 Gambling Picks Sep 01, 2021

Game week has arrived, and since we talk about college football on the Litecast we of course had to start with blind speculation about Matt Campbell's coaching future. The guys react to Iowa State's initial depth chart and dive into our preview of the UNI game. We pick our offensive and defensive players we're most excited to watch. Matt gives his special teams preview. And lastly, we predict how the game will play out. With the news of the Big Ten/ACC/Pac 12 alliance, it's time for another realignment segment. We break down what is next for Iowa State and the remaining Big 12 members. Plus, we debate who is public enemy #1 in Iowa State fandom at the moment. Last but certainly not least, it's the return of the Wide Right Moneyline. The guys give their picks for the best games of Week 1 and what gambling trends we're looking at to start the season. It's a jam-packed episode as the season has finally arrived! Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring!

Litecast: Game-By-Game Predictions and the Draft of Tailgating Things Aug 25, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us a text

Football season is finally upon us. To get the fanbase in the spirit, Austin, Dylan, and Matt are going game by game for some predictions and how we think the season will play out. We all ended up with the same record, but not the same path to get there. Spoiler alert: there will be slip ups, so find out where we think they'll happen. After that, we tackle the biggest cliches we expect to see throughout the season, both for Iowa State and the Big 12 at-large. Lastly, we wrapped this episode up with a draft of our top tailgating things. It's purposely vague, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation and a lot of room for fun. We love football and can't wait for the season to finally kickoff. Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring this podcast!

DPNL: 2021 Opponent Preview - Texas Tech, Oklahoma and TCU Aug 20, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us a text

This week, Levi and Marchie talk about Iowa State's last three opponents, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and TCU. The road trip to Lubbock can be a tricky game, so will Iowa State take care of business? Can the Cyclones take down the Sooners in Norman and put themselves in the driver seat for a playoff berth? Will the TCU game be a critical play-in for the Big 12 title? We answer all those and more on this episode of Down the Pipe & Natty Lite.
