September 1: VEN. MARIE-JOSEPHTE FITZBACH: The Door That Always Opened Sep 01, 2026
    Show notes

Venerable Marie-Josephte Fitzbach turned her own grief into an open door for women no one else in Quebec would take in.

Widowed young, Marie-Josephte Fitzbach joined the Sisters of Charity of Quebec and spent her nights bringing her sorrows to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, asking who needed her most. The answer was always the same: women just out of prison, with nowhere else to turn. She opened a refuge called Sainte-Madeleine, refusing to ask anyone to prove they deserved help first, and eventually founded a whole new religious community to keep the door open.

"Every woman who walked through her door, Marie-Josephte believed, was Christ arriving in disguise."

August 31: STS. JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA AND NICODEMUS: Followers in the End Aug 31, 2026
    Show notes

Two secret followers of Jesus — afraid their whole lives — finally stepped into the light at the foot of the Cross.

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus were powerful members of the Jewish council who believed in Jesus but kept it hidden out of fear. After Jesus died, something changed: Joseph boldly asked Pontius Pilate for Jesus's body, and together the two men wrapped Him in linen and spices and laid Him in Joseph's own tomb — the first public, costly act of faith either man had ever made.

    "Something broke open inside them."

August 30: ST. JEANNE JUGAN: She Carried the Elderly Home Aug 30, 2026
    Show notes

St. Jeanne Jugan carried a blind, forgotten old woman home in her own arms — and started a worldwide order.

On a cold winter night in France, Jeanne Jugan carried an elderly, blind woman named Anne into her own home and gave her, her own bed. More elderly poor kept arriving, and Jeanne kept making room — begging door to door for whatever they needed. Though a priest later took credit for founding her congregation and pushed her aside for the rest of her life, the Little Sisters of the Poor she truly started now serve in more than thirty countries.

"She called what she did simply 'making room.'"

⭐Today's challenge is just the start.

August 29: STS. SABINA AND SERAPIA: The Slave Who Led Her Mistress to Heaven Aug 29, 2026
    Show notes

A slave girl's quiet faith led her wealthy Roman mistress all the way to martyrdom — and to heaven.

Serapia, a young Christian slave in ancient Rome, never preached to her mistress Sabina — she simply lived her faith so visibly that Sabina couldn't stop noticing, and eventually asked to be baptized herself. When Serapia was arrested and martyred for her faith, Sabina stepped forward publicly as a Christian too, choosing martyrdom rather than staying safely silent.

"The slave went first. The mistress followed."

⭐Following Sts. Sabina and Serapia's example doesn't have to end when the episode does.

August 28: ST. MOSES THE BLACK: From Bandit to Monk Aug 28, 2026
    Show notes

St. Moses the Black led a gang of bandits through Egypt before becoming one of the desert's holiest monks.

Once the leader of a feared robber gang along the Nile, Moses found peace he'd never known when he took refuge in a monastery and stayed. His conversion wasn't easy — he wrestled with anger and pride for years — but he became one of the great teachers of the desert, known for radical humility about his own past even as a priest and elder.

"My sins are running out behind me, and I have come to judge the sins of another?"

August 27: ST. MONICA: The Son of So Many Tears Aug 27, 2026
    Show notes

St. Monica prayed and fasted for her wayward son for seventeen straight years — and never once gave up.

St. Monica wept for years over her brilliant but faithless son, Augustine, who ran from God and from her — even sailing away from Africa in the night without saying goodbye. She followed him all the way to Milan, praying and fasting the entire way, until she watched him step into the baptismal font at the Easter Vigil, at last a Catholic Christian.

"It is impossible that the son of so many tears should perish."

⭐Today's challenge is just the start.

August 26: ST. MARIAM BAOUARDY: The Little Nothing Aug 26, 2026
    Show notes

St. Mariam Baouardy, an orphaned servant girl left for dead at thirteen, was nursed back to life by Our Lady herself.

After refusing to renounce her Catholic faith, young Mariam Baouardy was attacked and left for dead in the streets of Alexandria — and woke in a cave, healed and cared for by a woman in blue she came to recognize as Our Lady. She went on to join the Carmelites, help found the first Carmelite monastery in Bethlehem, and lived a life of deep, hidden prayer marked by extraordinary mystical gifts.

"She called herself 'the Little Nothing.'"

⭐Following St. Mariam's example doesn't have to end when the episode does.

August 25: ST. LOUIS, KING OF FRANCE: The Crown Worth More Than a Kingdom Aug 25, 2026
    Show notes

St. Louis, King of France, once paid a fortune for Christ's Crown of Thorns — then carried it home barefoot himself.

St. Louis IX ruled one of Europe's most powerful kingdoms while attending Mass twice daily and praying the full Liturgy of the Hours. When Christ's actual Crown of Thorns came up for sale in 1238, Louis paid an enormous sum for it and walked barefoot through Paris to carry it home, later building the stained-glass Sainte-Chapelle to house it. He washed the feet of lepers with his own hands.

"A prince ought not to believe too readily those who flatter him; he ought to distrust his own judgment whenever it is in his own favor."

August 24: ST. BARTHOLOMEW: Jesus Knew His Name Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Before they ever met, Jesus already knew Bartholomew's heart — and told him so under a fig tree.

St. Bartholomew was skeptical when his friend Philip told him they'd found the Messiah — until Jesus spoke first, revealing that He'd already seen Bartholomew before Philip ever called him. Bartholomew became one of the Twelve Apostles and carried the Gospel as far as Armenia, where he was martyred for refusing to deny what he'd witnessed.

"Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit."

August 23: ST. ROSE OF LIMA: The First Flower of the Americas Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

St. Rose of Lima wore a crown of roses hiding metal spikes — a secret gift of love to Jesus.

The first saint born in the Americas, Rose of Lima spent hours each day in prayer in a tiny hermitage in her family's garden in Peru. She offered up every small suffering to Jesus, and personally cared for the sick, poor, and enslaved people that colonial Lima pushed aside — washing their wounds and feeding them with her own hands.

"Suffering, she had learned, does not have to be wasted."

⭐Following St. Rose's example doesn't have to end when the episode does.
