Why Do People Lie? (feat. Dick Talk & Mimosas) Jun 04, 2021
    Show notes

There are many reasons why people lie, some for image reasons, some to stay out of trouble, and some of which are to yourself. On this very special episode (our third ever podcast collaboration), out of the box episode, we are joined by Ana, Jennifer, and Amanda, the hosts of the Dick Talk & Mimosas podcast to discuss exactly why do people lie. This episode is NOT safe for work or your kids. Will consist of a lot of laughs, blushing, tea spilling. Not recommended for those who are sensitive to expletives, and, well, "dick talk". Dick Talk & Mimosas is a podcast where these lovely ladies talk about everything from felines to fetishes, all over mimosas!

Let's Ruffle Some Feathers ft. J Marie & Lani Hankins May 28, 2021
    Show notes

Sexual abuse is probably one of the most heinous acts one can do, yet this subject along with domestic violence, is seldom talked about or taken seriously before an incident happens. What's worse is so many cases go unreported either out of fear of retaliation or fear of being ostracized. We are joined by J Marie, the host of the Women With An Effed Up Mind podcast, and Lani Hankins, the host of the Kruse Corner podcast, to discuss some of the more rough topics about sexual violence that's plaguing both the civilian and military sectors. We'll ruffle some feathers about why this is such a problem and what we can do to help make a difference.

    You're Only Human! May 21, 2021
    Show notes

Despite what many individuals and organizations think, aviation mechanics are neither magicians nor machines. The constant beat down of operations tempo can wear out even the most dedicated worker. This can lead to mistakes, slip ups, shortcuts, omissions, and mishaps. Work burnout is a real thing; it's a psychological syndrome characterized by emotional exhaustion, feelings of cynicism and reduced personal accomplishment. Some may confuse burnout with depression, which is understandable since they have similar symptoms. Burnout can and does lead to depression. In some places, we glorify the burnout (i.e. we pride ourselves in being overworked), like it's a badge of pride. On this episode, we explore how that mindset is developed and how that can have serious implications.

    Let's Talk About FLEX! May 14, 2021
    Show notes

Most workplaces have a set schedule to which its employees adhere to. For some aviation areas, such schedules are in a constant state of flux due to manpower shortages or an over demanding flight schedule. This leads to working long hours and having unpredictable work schedules. There's a saying "don't be flexible, be fluid" and this couldn't be more true when it comes to ever changing schedules like in high demand industries. In many cases, you're expected to jump when called upon and anything outside of what is demanded/expected of you doesn't exist or isn't relevant enough to justify slowing down or missing work.

Angry Oodles of Noodles (feat. La Coyote!) Apr 30, 2021
    Show notes

Almost all aircraft problems can trace itself back to its electronics. Despite what you may think, the technology that keeps a plane’s magic going is OLDER than it seems. These fixes are also much harder than they seem and involve such adventures as untangling years’ worth of neglected wires. Avionics troubleshooting, modifications, and upgrades require a deep level of skill and understanding. We are joined by La Coyote, a former Marine aircraft mechanic, who's recently transitioned into an avionics technician and shares with us some of the common gripes, pains, and attention to detail involved with aircraft electronics. Being an avionics technician typically involves being a pseudo-engineer, and having a good understanding of schematics. We mechanics tend to make fun of avionics technicians for their lack of grease soaked work clothes and their nerdy disposition. When it comes down to it, avionics is the way of the future and it's no wonder they have more longevity than an average wrench turner.

Wonder from Down Under (feat. Hotwings) Apr 16, 2021
    Show notes

We’ve talked about work, travel through work, but we’ve yet to talk about what’s work like in other places. Today we take a trip to Hunter Valley, Australia. We explore some of the similarities and differences their aviation regulations are compared to the US. We also are joined by special guest "Hot Wings", who is thus far our longest distanced guest on the show, is a second-year aircraft maintenance apprentice and an aspiring pilot. Hot Wings recollects what got her into aviation, some of her experiences as a woman coming into a men-dominated workplace, what drives her to continue being in the industry, and shares some wisdom for other aspiring women to excel in aviation.

    Lemon Laws Apr 09, 2021
    Show notes

Aviation maintenance shops seem to perform miracles when getting aircraft ready for its operation schedules and their hard work often gets overlooked. All shops however have a limit to their magic. This limit is often embodied in one or a few aircraft that always finds a way to break down no matter how much work is done to it.
